these comments make me so happy omg ily all also im almost done my next video but its on a different musical so im praying that people will still like it lol
I was listening to the soundtrack again recently and it made me so happy. I remember this cast being so lovely and perfect for their roles. Then it dawned on me that this musical will be remembered for is that awful movie and I got super depressed.
@@broadwaybiscuit8125 I've tried to avoid the movie as much as I can and just block it out, but now whenever you search "the Prom" on google or youtube, you get the movie and it just sucks. I just try to listen to the musical and forget the movie exists.

They didn’t ruin it, Hollywood and Broadway are two different industries, Ryan Murphy did a superb job adapting it to the movie, also stage acting and film acting are different when it comes to movies it’s best to cast celebrities to ensure maximum viewers to appeal the everyone, I know people that don’t like musicals but watch it because Kerry & Meryl, outside of me dancing in the film my family really got in to the Prom
I FREAKING LOVE THE PROM SO MUCH. I once scoured the internet for a bootleg to watch with my friend (I couldn't find one on youtube at the time) I've seen the movie a bunch of times, I'm currently reading the book, and I got to see it recently when it came to my city, which was wild because I'm not out or anything and I didn't think anyone would take me but my friend's mom knew one of the cast members so she took us and it was amazing. I'm just a bit obsessed hehe
Needless movie shade is needless. The film has acted as a great gateway into the musical for a lot of people, and I think debates/arguments over who is 'better' are needless. I really did like the movie, and understand why in some regards it looks and feels different to the stage show. Though one criticism is them cutting part of You Happened for no reason. If you needed to cut something, cut some of the Dee Dee/Principal story. It was already kinda bloated in the musical and yeah. Gotta say though, I'd love to see a proper obc recording of this, Hamilton on Disney+ style. But as well as the film, not in place of it.
@@broadwaybiscuit8125 Fair. And sorry if I came across as rude, I was sleep deprived af when I watched the video 😂 Good compilation otherwise, I must say.
I don’t live in the US so I didn’t get the see the Broadway show, for me the movie was great and led me to the whole awesome performance on Broadway. Don’t talk shit about it ever, it’s a way to reach out to people, if i had never seen the movie I wouldn’t even know about the show. I love the show more than the film but still.
idk i feel like ryan Murphy really changed what it was all about. it felt like they took away what the story was all about. it felt more about the broadway actors and less about alyssa and emma. also, the musical was so much for funnier and the movie felt corny. alyssa and emma had so much more time and more chemistry. BUT that’s just my opinion. i’m not saying my opinion is right and if you enjoyed the movie, that’s great!! i honestly wish i did enjoy it but i just didn’t and that’s ok :)
@@broadwaybiscuit8125 I watched the movie before the show I guess it’s a thing of perspective. I didn’t know what was it about so for me was kinda “first time” hearing the story. When I watched the Broadway performance I enjoyed much more, you are right it was funnier and so much better. But if it wasn’t for the movie I wouldn’t even know about the show. I’m grateful for the movie because it led me to the show. ☺️
