Today we explore Whidbey Island which is in the Northwest corner of Washington about 1 hour north of Seattle. It is the largest island in the state and we have a very full day planned to hit a lot of the highlights.
We start out with Deception Pass State Park which is one of 6 state parks on the island and is around 4,000 acres. There are a bunch of hiking trails and we plan to hike the Rosario Head Trail to Lighthouse Point. The trail follows along beaches and cliffs, and offers awesome views of the Deception Pass Bridge. The bridge is actually one of the most photographed spots in all of Washington. It spans around 1,500 feet and connects the north side of Whidbey Island with the mainland.
After our hike, we make our way over the Deception Pass Bridge and head south to Coupeville. Founded in 1852, Coupeville is the oldest town on Whidbey Island and the second oldest town in all of Washington state. It is situated on Penn Cove which is known for mussels. We pick up take out from Toby’s Tavern and head to a nearby park to enjoy. We get fish and chips and of course, a pound of Penn Cove mussels, all of which is delicious!
After lunch, we walk around Coupeville a bit. It is a quaint, small town with a lot of charm! There are historic 19th-century buildings that now house specialty shops, restaurants, and art galleries. We head out onto Coupeville Wharf which is a 110+ year old wharf warehouse and dock that gives a great view of the town and Penn Cove.
Next up, it's time for some dessert! We head to Greenbank Farm which boasts art galleries, a winery, cheese shop, gardens and trails. It is also home to Whidbey Pies & Cafe which makes nearly every type of pie you can imagine. We settle on loganberry which is a mix between a raspberry and blackberry.
Our next stop is Ebey’s Landing which is the first National Historical Reserve in the US. There are numerous historic barns, homes, and blockhouses dating back to the mid-1800s throughout the reserve. We hike the Bluff Trail which is around 5 miles and is apparently one of the top things to do on Whidbey Island. The trail ascends from the parking lot and climbs along a ridge with amazing views of the beach below. At the halfway point, we drop down to the beach and make our way back along the shore.
We end our day at Fort Casey State Park. The park used to be home to one of three artillery posts positioned around Admiralty Inlet that protected the Puget Sound in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is also home to the Admiralty Head Lighthouse where we watch an amazing sunset to close out the day!

I spent four years as a child 8-11 years old in the early sixties living on Whidbey Island. I’ve lived in many states around the country and parts of Europe as well . Whidbey is hands down the best place I have ever lived. Wonderful place to grow up if your an outdoors kind of kid.

Really enjoyable video of a very nice place that I have visited numerous times over several decades. You capture some of the highlights that Whidbey Island has to offer. We love Coupeville and Langley. I own a vacation rental in the North Central Cascades and often direct guests from out-of-state to Whidbey to get a completely different experience than that of being in the mountains. Deception Pass is awesome. Washington is so diverse. Drive an hour or so in any direction from the Seattle area and you will find yourself in a different world. Thanks for sharing your delightful day. Ignore the trolls.

Wow! My dream is to move to Washington State and to celebrate my graduation, I'm going to be taking a trip and staying at this island at an Airbnb. Decided to watch a video and it looks so beautiful. I have lived in the desert all my life and have always been angry. Now I get to be happy and enjoy many firsts in my life. I also have a crush on someone from New York and I hope everything goes well with that as well. My life is starting to get so blissful. Also look forward to eating the mussels for the first time. So excited about this new journey in my life.

Fridalgo Island where the town Anacortes is, is not the mainland where Deception Pass bridge connect to from Whidbey Island. The main land is where the towns of Mount Vernon, and Everett are. iYou do know the locals are laughing at you. There’s so much more to this island, you all should of went to the cemetery in Coupeville to learn more about the history. And to learn about the Native Americans who also had an impact in this area. I should write a book!

Thanks for your feedback, Carrie. You're right.. we love to eat! We feel it is a great way to experience a new place/ culture. So much so that we have actually made whole videos JUST on eating. :) We appreciate the time you took to watch this video and we certainly are open to constructive criticism, but I do hope you (and @StacyFlagg) keep in mind that we are real people on the other end off the computer. We read every comment that comes through and take criticism and negativity to heart. We spend many hours planning, filming and editing videos for the enjoyment of others. Do we always hit the mark.. absolutely not but we are simply trying to find the most enjoyment out of life and share our journey along the way. Take care, and I hope you have a great rest of your week!

Sorry, but this video annoyed me for several reasons. Do some research! The first three minutes aren't even on Whidbey. The Deception Pass bridge connects Whidbey to Fidalgo Island (there is another bridge that leads to the mainland). The bridge is not under construction, it is being painted. Ebey is pronounced Ee-be (not Ebbie) And finally, the "government" did not take over the prairie, it was a grassroots effort leading to preservation and conservation easements. Most of the land is still privately owned and is farmland.

Yikes, your attitude is terrible. I live on Whidbey, I still pronounce stuff incorrectly and I would never expect a visitor to pronounce stuff correctly. I don’t know why you found it necessary to be so rude, but hopefully in the 3 years since you made this comment you have gotten a grip on your attitude.
