A little while ago I was doing some OTF research just checking out the market and seeing what was out there. I have always been a budget OTF guy because I had no real faith in an OTF standing up to the abuse I put a lot of my knives through. I didn't want to take apart and clean my knife once a week so I decided OTF knives were not for me. Having done a bunch of pocket checks recently I have been seeing guys carrying OTF's and saying that they were beating them up daily. Thus began my search for an OTF knife to carry and abuse!
Obviously Microtech has been THE OTF company of the knife world for years and they make a pretty good knife. Guardian Tactical on the other hand makes the smoothest and most satisfying OTF out there! I have had the pleasure of carrying both of these brands for some testing over the years (the Guardian 035 Recon being hands down my favorite), and was interested in what else might be out there. Enter the Axial Shift!
Made in my home state of Utah, relatively new to the knife world, and I was able to stop by their shop to pick one up! My initial impression was that these guys hustle and that they were hungry to make a rad knife. I carried the Shift OTF for about a month beating it up the whole time.
