I just traveled on Spirit with only a TakeOff 2.0. I packed enough for five days of colder weather. I brought a heavy sweater, a couple of thick shirts, leggings, a hoodie, a tablet and a small purse along with makeup and toiletries. I was worried about the zipper pulling apart because it was so stuffed, but all was fine. The Spirit associate made me slide my bag into the personal item bin and it slid in perfectly, so yay!
I learned a lot from your video about current bag options. I am 80 years old and I’ve had several of my bags for several years. I thought they were small but those that you’re showing are much smaller and also roller bags. Thanks for going into so much detail.
I'm a "seasoned citizen" too! I try to cruise twice a year, for at least 7 days, so I check a bag. I have had so many problems finding a personal item bag that I don't have to carry on my shoulder or my back, so I found a roller bag that works great. I can tuck my crossbody purse under my jacket while boarding, and it fits fine on top of my personal item bag under the seat. The roller bag works great as a foot rest too!
The "fanny bag hidden under the hoodie sweatshirt" is a GREAT hack. I do it all the time on Frontier and Spirit. What gets me is....even this extra small bag packed bursting still fits under the airplane seat along with my personal item, another backpack filled to capacity lol.
I have the original takeoff luggage and the new 2.0. I packed for 5 days in Florida in early September 2024. I packed 3 denim capris, 3 tee shirts, 2 shirts a pr jeans and pr of blk leggings, undies, makeup case, etc. but what I did once I passed tsa was take my backpack from takeoff company and put it on. It’s about 3 inches thick and About 12” wide. So I put my pack back on, a hoodie over that and walked right through. HINT: I purchased a man hoodie and went up a size for my body frame. Once on plane, takes off, the hoodie, wear the backpack off the plane no questions no answers My luggage was takeoff so was my backpack. This company knows how to make it work for you. Thanks.
I can vouch for the American Tourister bag. I have that one in magenta/purplish with black trim. I've used it on Spirit as my only luggage for a week trip to Florida. I measured it in the sizers at the airport both before my trip and then for the flight home after repacking and having some dirty clothes in it. I made sure not to over stuff the bag and it fit perfectly in the sizer. I will say that not all Spirit planes are the same with the same size seats. Also the location of the seat affects how the bag actually fits underneath. In my experience, the window seat has the smallest area and I had to sit with ny feet resting on my suitcase during one flight because it didnt fit completely under the seat in front of me. It would have been the same with any bag as this was the design of that particular plane. So just keep that in mind. I personally am not worried about that as long as it fits in the sizer and I can carry it for free onto the plane. But for those who are taking longer flights, this may be a confort issue.
Thanks for that! We're going for a 10 day trip to Spain and I am determined to do carry on only. Unfortunately the airline not only has a limit on size but weight also.. 10 KGS! I'm going to have to do some thinking!!
I Like The Peach Colored One And The Big Packing Cube Put In First In Bottom Of Bag Lay Flat Then Side By Side Pack Other Items On Top Of Big Cube Gives Mire Space And Room❤❤ Love Video Thank You For Showing And The Material Brown Colored Bag You Did Last I HAVE The Blue Bag I Love It. You Did Amazing Demonstration Thank You God Bless You❤❤
I’m actually surprised that both Frontier and Spirit’s dimensions for a personal sized bag are 18”x14”x8”. I mostly fly Air Canada (17”x13”x6”) and WestJet (16”x13”x6”), and they are a titch smaller. Porter is the same as AC. I have one of the backpacks (very similar to the pink one), and thought it looked way too big to count as a personal bag (mind you, I was taking a carry on as well). I still haven’t worked up to personal size only yet. Maybe some day… Nice video showing how much you can pack into these bags. Thanks!
This page is awesome. Much love and support for you and your content. Thank you!!! I am going to look into these. I recently got the tomtoc Travel Backpack 40L of Amazon and it’s PERFECT. I hope to add more bags to my collection with some of your suggestions.
Thank you for a very informative video with several different types of personal item shown. I particularly liked that you measured the bags AFTER they were packed since some soft sided bags can be more than 8 inches then. Very helpful, thank you.
Great info!! Would love to know what the bags weigh empty. Our airlines are picky with luggage weight!! A lighter model allows a few more items to be packed!! 😊
We are heading to Florida for the winter. We are starting to fly down instead of driving. Is there a service that is reasonable to mail down skin care larger bottles? Also a few clothes. Im use to having space to take things when driving.
I've been wearing a fanny pack for years that the strap is long enough I can pull it out and where it is a crossbody if I want to or tighten it down as a fanny pack and a lot of clutch purses to straps are long enough that you can put it as a fanny pack and just pull your shirt over it if I'm wearing black yoga pants I will wear a black pack that way it blends right in
Thank you for this very comprehensive comparison video! I found it very helpful. Those two WANDF travel bags, is there one you recommend over the other? I like the denim options on the personal bag but like the pouched option on the foldable bag. I'm considering for weekend road trips.
I ended up purchasing both, but haven't used either for travel. One I keep in my car to use when needed to transport various items, and it works well so far. I do have the underseat pro roller bag which I have used and love!
My husband and I have used the protégé Walmart roller bag for more than 6 years now with frontier and we have never had any problems. Since they are really cracking down on bags lately, I usually take a screenshot of my bag's measurements and Frontier's off their website. I have never had to use them. I just carry them for self-assurance. Should they ever ask me to put it in the bin and it does not go in, I am in full compliance with measurements on their website and the issue lies within the bin's size. Of course, many can rightfully argue that it seems like too much of a hassle, and it can be. But we have taken several round-trip flights for 40$ each, so if a few screenshots will help me relax, then it's a win. However, I roll into that tarmac like I own the place and with our game face on -- (I am fully compliant and please do not try to tell me it is not so if you do not want to see my screenshots) and 99% of the time, they know this is a compliant bag.
YES! It takes a little practice, but you really CAN use the personal item as luggage and it is more than enough. I have even stuffed an entire sequin dress for NY Broadway in there and had 5 days worth of clothing. Her video is really quite good and explains everything so well. Figure our where you can compromise and it works. Happy travels!! @@HaleewithaFlair
I think I might have used 2 compression bags instead of the one because sometimes things get lost in those larger bags and you're not able to compress it as much as you would like. Just a thought.
I really want to purchase the voyager bag from poppy and peonies for my personal bag on allegiant but I'm so scared they may make me pay for it since it's a smidgen bigger than the requirements.
Will you please explain why all your items easily fit into all bags except for the pink Hanples? How is the pink bag not able to hold the same items, even when other bags were smaller?? Im shopping for a new bag. Thank you for this video!
😂😂 I just got my pink backpack exactly like yours today! I am using it as my personal item for Spirit for an overnight stay. My biggest problem is that I have to pack my cpap machine in it, otherwise I would have more than enough room to pack everything.
I purchased Protege 16” at Walmart but when I read the reviews some people said it didn’t pass as a personal item on Spirit ,because of the wheels. I measured it was 8 1/2 if you measure from front to back wheels. Did you have that issue.?
The purple bag Ive used for years. Its my bestI gave the cheapest bags as gift for my birthday party last year they fold into itself. The pink backpack is what i just bought for my upcoming trip. Im plus size too. I think you made a mistake on how you packed it though. My roller in big airports was making me tired and i wish I had a bag ti put on my back. Your reviews were helpful except i noticed you left out shoes in that 2nd roller bag. Thanks
I had the American Tourister bag which I ended up giving away. From my review I posted on Amazon: "Nice compact design, sturdy construction. It's a little taller than I would like, you can see from the photos that it sticks out from under the seat in front. Note that it sticks out further than my wife's under seat bag (the dark purple one on the right side. When in your plane's seat, it is awkward to find and pull items out of the bag when you are seated. On our recent Southwest Airlines flight (a Boeing 737-800 plane) it was too wide to fit under an aisle seat." Two other things that I didn't like were lack of a laptop sleeve at the back and no small organizer pockets in the front pocket for small things like credit cards, etc.
And oh by the way I am hoping that someone is carrying more than this one bag on a flight because I carry more than just shoes ATSA bag and my clothes as there are personal items that need to be packed somewhere and this does not include them.
I'm sorry but this video is ridiculous. Apparently the cheap carriers allow larger personal items than the major carriers do. American and United both have personal items with the same dimensions which are 17 inches x 10 inches x 9 inches. Absolutely none of the bags in this video fit those requirements. I really wish RU-vid people would start using bags that actually meet the requirements! It does absolutely no good to know what will fit into a bag that is way too big. The title of your video includes United airlines, and none will fit. So in addition to breaking the rules by putting your crossbody bag under your sweatshirt you would also be breaking the rules by having a personal item that big. I hope everyone that breaks the rules gets caught and gets charged for a checked bag and a penalty fee.
@@HaleewithaFlair why did I know I should have put this on the first post. It doesn't matter what you've done in the past. The fact is airlines are cracking down on their rules and requiring people to put their items in sizers before boarding the plane. I've seen videos. What has worked in the past is not guaranteed to work now. To fraudulently represent things on your video is shameful at best. If these items do meet the requirements for frontier and spirit then that's fine. Take the name United out of the title.
Yes! Some people ship some toiletry items or even order them to be delivered to their destination. It's not unheard of! BTW, I found this video very helpful! Though I did just purchase the Underseat Pro Roller, it's very well made, I'd like an option to have a shoulder strap in cases where you can't or don't want to roll it.
Why is that unheard of to you? I frequently stay with family when visiting Florida. I will have groceries, drinks or sometimes other items delivered by instacart or Amazon so I have them available when I arrive. I wouldn't send my shampoo by Amazon if I was visiting a tropical island somewhere and staying at a resort but everyone vacations differently. No need to be rude just because you didn't understand.
@@HaleewithaFlairI prefer a bag on wheels so ones you have to carry not for me as asthmatic. I need to pack my life too on long trip.. at end carry on best as wouldnt fit into under seat..
