10:50 the microscopic young guy on the other side of the pond to the right of the fountain: "Dang that guy! He's catching everything, and I'm still skunked." I'm with you, lil dude. I get skunked a lot too.
I loved this video, Tyler! And when you helped that young kid, it made my me like your channel even more. Add on the fundraiser you’re doing and it proved to me you’re the GOAT. Keep up the great videos and please keep doing pond videos.
I love your channel the most because you always explain the basics to us over and over. Please keep teaching us and dont skip over all the crucial concepts.
So right about giving a helping hand, especially to kids. I love kids out fishing instead of just sitting on the couch playing games or glued to their phones. Every chance I get me, my buys and my daughter are out fishing. Most of the time they are slamming the small sunfish and Im just trying to catch bass.
I just picked up my first pack of flukes ever the day this video was uploaded, the next day, i went through about 4 of them in a pack of 10. In a very high pressure pond where i rarely catch more than 1 in a day, i caught 7, all on a weightless, watermelon red magic fluke ( store was out of watermelon red). Thank you for introducing me to flukes. I will always have some in my bag now.
@@TylersReelFishing Thank you, if you ever make it up to Maine, would definitely love to see a video on how you would fish up here. Thank you again sir.
I love teaching ppl to fish, kids always use to always watch me catch pike up at the beach so I'd let them catch panfish with the other rod. Saves me the trouble of finding bait
Definitely have to get some flukes.. and helping the kid is so nice if you. I remember trying to get into bass fishing b4 your videos and all the Fishermen here where I live in Indiana when you ask what they are using and the technique they are using and they are just like stuck up or act like it's a secret. Or if you using the same thing and they catching them and you aren't band ask for tips most all they say is years of experience and refuse to help or give you tips. Made me a bigger fan then already was
He didn’t, you can clearly see he takes the plastic off the hook and has it in his right hand then throws the line with the hook back in the water while he presumably gets another fluke from the bag to rig up.
Sam Bossn why do you care it’s nice supporting this dude for even teaching us about why the fluke is good if I had to buy tackle like flukes I would use the link but I have flukes so I don’t need any.
First time coming across your channel man, and I can say this honestly. I really enjoyed the content man! Got a new subscriber here. Rip lips bro! Have a blessed day!
Hey Tyler, Enjoyed the video. I met you about a month ago at this same pond! I think you were using the same set up that day to. You had a 5+ lb break off when it jumped out of the water. I truly believe it could have went 8 lbs. Too bad I can't fish there anymore. I had a police officer let me know the pond is for HOA members only. 😂 Dang it. It's a nice honey hole.
@TylersReelFishing When I use Texas rig on a caffeine shad or a even a senko I tend to lose a lot of fish could you explain what to do to lose less fish or what could be going wrong that could reduce your chances of landing the fish? Losing fish can be the most frustrating thing, especially when it happens multiple times it feels like there's something I'm doing wrong that I don't know about. Thanks for the content on pond fishing it is really helpful, this is the one thing I just can't figure out.
@@TylersReelFishingThanks for the response! I use a medium light rod with a 12 lb fluorocarbon lead and a 3/0 ewg hook for Texas rig and I usually try hooksetting decently hard. There are probably so many variables that go into losing a fish that I don't know about. I know it's definently upsetting to have fish come off and not know what you did wrong - maybe that would be a good idea for a video in the future. Your videos are insanely helpful though I really appreciate all the work you put into them , keep it up!
That kid was fishing with a Hula Grub or some call it a spider grub. It will absolutely slay em... I can't even count how many bass I have caught on those things in my life.
Think that the fountain would be a place where the fish would be during the heat of the day because of the oxygen it puts back into the water? Like, air conditioning for bass?
Man, I just spent $250 in tackle and did not get these flukes! (and U live a hour away from any bait store) I’m going to fish a pond tomorrow and I’m bummed now! Loaded up on Senkos and stuff like that hopefully I’ll have some luck! I have a ton of Lunker City Fin-S minnows any idea if those work well for bass? We use them for jigging walleye in Michigan! Thanks for the video!
I love your videos, but not everybody can afford a $400 combo, especially if you are only 13 like I am. What should I do? I currently use an Abu Garcia Silver Max baitcast reel, and a 6' 6" MH All-Star Classic Series rod. It is really the only combo I use. What should I do?
Hey Tyler, I am a beginning angler from south central Kansas, and I do most of my lure shopping out of Walmart. Could you do a pond fishing episode using some lures from walmart? I know a lot of RU-vidrs already do this kind of thing, but I would like to see your take on the soft plastic and spinnerbait section, which are two sections that I frequent. Thanks!!
Peter Riehl try to find the good package deals for cheap, I got a good jig with 2 trailers for like 2.50 and the Ozark trail Walmart brand is some good stuff, but they have good prices and so far quality has been decent
I one time was fishing at a lake and this kid was having trouble with a casting reel and tangled him whole line up and I said shoot I give him some of my line I have of my reel tune I set the reel up for him it was a very fancy one it one a cheaper one and showed him how to throw it
It’s the Anglr Bullseye! Pretty cool deal for pre-fishing/breaking down water but even better for actually fishing. The Anglr app is basically a digital logbook that allows you to drop waypoints and saves all sorts of data about each fish catch that you can come back in later and view or edit. Stuff like wind speed and direction, air temp, barometric pressure, etc. The app is free but they offer add-ons like the Bullseye that just make it a lot easier to use and better. That’s the little thing on my hat in the video. It’s like 30 bucks but you can bluetooth link it to your phone and that way each time you catch a fish you just hit the Bullseye and it logs all that stuff without having to take your phone out each time. People compare ANGLR to Fishbrain, but it’s much better than Fishbrain
I have 4 spray bottles of a name brand bass scent. They dont seem to work. Are these products a scam? Have you tried using them? Are they necessary? Maybe catching bass is more about presentation? Your thoughts? BTW, I like your videos. The videos are crisp in quality and wide screen not like cell users that make vertical videos. A thumbs up for ya!
I have tried them before, and have several stories of them working. But most of the time I think they are unnecessary. I can see how many pressured situation that they might hold on longer to a soft plastic with scent on it, but I really don’t mess around with it a whole lot
There’s a local pond here in Charleston, SC that I fish in the mornings that has about 20 yards of weeds before it drops off. Would you recommend using a weight in that scenario to make sure I can cast past the weeds? Or still go weightless?
Hey Tyler, I think you should have asked the kid to show you what he had in his backpack, maybe he had a fluke and didn’t even know. Then wait till he caught one, that would have been awesome....find him again 😂
Hey Tyler, quick question for you! When you are fishing a pond or small lake with ripple current on top of the water from wind (like you can see clearly in 11:19 of this vid) do you cast and retrieve with the current, against the current, diagonal to it, or does it not really matter?
Watermelon red, and Texas rigged, just like I have in this video. Search “TylersReelFishing soft plastics” here on RU-vid to see more of my soft plastics teaching
thanks for the video. im new at fishing. ive gone fishing 3 times this week and havent caught anything. so ill try these flukes. what size hook? do i use a weight? thx

Hey Tyler. Quick question. I just recently got back into fishing and all I ever used was topwater poppers to catch bass and hooks with worms or corn. This week alone I've knocked about 6-8 larger smallies about 3LBs with the top water popper. Would you consider the popper as a go to lure? If not why? I have never had any luck with rubber lures. I've watched your video about different ways to run the rubber worms and such but never any luck. Any advice?
I would not recommend a top water as a go to Luer, only because it is not a year-round tactic. Unless of course you live in South Florida. If you live anywhere else, you’re going to have months where the fish just do not buy topwater because the water is too cold. Give rubber worms a try, and always feel free to comment or send me a message if you have any questions
@@TylersReelFishing awesome, I appreciate it. I'm up in northern NY and only fish during the spring and summer. Been doing good on top water but that makes alot of sense since I don't fish year round. Yea i watched that one video of yours to rig up a Texas style rubber worm and put a rubber shad on it but no luck..didn't get tangled up tho.
So I just ordered a lews Mach 2 baitcaster 7ft and I’m not use to 7ft rod do you think 7ft is a little big for my height? I am around 5’4 5’5 or it does no matter what height you are?
