Doppelganger Arle left such an impression that she's come back for both, the Drama CDs AND Quest, the former of which being a feat no other Compile-only character has accomplished. We still don't know what exactly her deal is, but at least we're getting more crumbs now...
Not to mention spawning people with their own ideas for her future. Everyone’s favourite aside, there’s also that high school AU from that friend of yours, Crysantheum I think her name is?
Puyo~n is my personal favourite, but mostly for aesthetical reasons... Also I like to think of the one Doppel backstory as canon I think it's really interesting how Chico and Lidelle have the same fuzzy-tipped elf ears! It makes me wonder about the connection between them...
Personally, this game's weird develoment is much more intresting than the actual game it self, really makes me wonder what would it be like if compile never went bankrupt and still owned puyo puyo
I think the biggest issue is the fact that compile went bankrupt. I think had compile continued the series we might have gotten some answers, or at a madou tie in game. It does make me wonder what we could have gotten had compile still own puyo puyo.
I was expecting a review of this game at some point. I think the only flaw of this game was that they never provided much lore behind Doppelganger Arle. And the lore behind her that we do have is (infamously) non-canon.
i think this game wouldve been better if they listened to what the fans want and still want from a puyo game, yes everyone wants a minotaruos strip mini game and him to be playable dressed and undressed
LIT VIDEO! I am such a huge Satan fan, so imagine my utmost horror discovering he gets possessed. It's totally not that deep, but still. I'm glad to know that someone else is a huge fan of how Puyo~n looks, and I'm kind of curious on that curry mode thing for PS1... like, omg, that's Arle doing a mostly normal thing! The whole art being better than the actual gameplay kind of reminds me of Puyo DA! You know... cuz the presentation of both games are fantastic, lots of cool art, really good music... but the gameplay kinda sucks.
This would've reached full potential had Compile been financially stable. 😞 Another thing worth noting is that combining the console roster with the scrapped characters who returned in Pocket Puyo~n and the proposed Dark Witch, that would total the roster to 24, the signature number.
I love this game but god some of the area gimmicks are total ass. The fire area’s gimmick is that instead of a rock (30 garbage puyos) being the max that can fall at one time, it’s one large puyo. You have to painfully wait for your opponents to lose, one full line at a time. The water area has pieces automatically fall painfully slowly, and the latter areas combine both to make a game that is agonizingly slow to play. I’m the kind of person who switches N64 emulators because I can’t wait 30 seconds to play a game. If I wanted to wait around for a game I’d play an idle game.
Playing the game is infamously annoying, especially if you're a high level player used to the speed of every other puyo game. I recommend playing the game if you care about the story, but it's hard to deal with the gimmicks sometimes. Sometimes matches may just last for too long. i have no idea what went in compile when they coded the gameplay
