Agreed, he was the prototypical physical, overpowering, contested ball wide receiver, very consistent 8 out of 9 year span where he'd put up 1,100-1,500 yards no matter what (team, QB, opponent, etc.), good catch %, played injured. His TDs dropped off when he was in the wrong offenses. He was as good or better than a lot of other receivers that got more headlines, which happens all the time. You wonder how much better he would have been had he not had to deal with his mental health issues.

Bob Sanders needs to be mentioned more. The shortest player in the league when he was drafted, he was plagued by injuries. He only played more than 6 games twice in his career. In those two years, he made 2 first team all pro, 2 pro bowls, earned a defensive player of the year, and won a Superbowl. Sanders in 2007 is one of the best safeties of all time, full stop. If he played even just 5-7 full seasons, Sanders would probably be in the hall of fame right now. He was that good.
