Especially since r&b has been around since the 1940s, and later evolved into soul and rock, so it's incredibly influential on most, if not all, contemporary music.
Literally me when I subs "Splice" for a month cause I only knew about it, for it selection amount of samples and I was hovering around it for hours and never thought about clicking the preset option after a month of using it, and then I came across the preset selection and was wondering when did they have that option. And the 1st thing i was thinking about is "do they have for Serum?". I shit u not, there was a lot! and that caught me by surprise. I was using "Splice" for a month and never thought of even clicking the "Presets" option. Stefan, thank you so much for mentioning about this other youtubers. You are literally one of the youtubers I followed from time to time just to learn a few things about chords progression and also about the DAW(mostly Logic Pro).
Stephan dont know he has a 26 year old Son from South Africa. Bro u raised me, bro u taught me a lot and ur bedroom n equipment was still basic then. Thanks for growing too Dad. You taught us to appreciate what we hv a work our best with it. Love you bra.
Haha thank you son! Super happy to hear that you’ve learnt a lot from my videos and they’ve had such an impact! Makes it all worth it and I truly appreciate the support bro! Much love man 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
brooo!!! i thank god RU-vid for putting this vid on my recommendations... just like you said: those Presets gallery on Splice is GOLD!!!!!!!!!! im so pump to createeee!!! 🙌🏽
I heard Smino’s Blkswn album like half a year ago and loved it. Monte captured the R&B vibes so well on the album and now i’m actually aware for what kind of noises i like and hopefully this helps me when i produce
Woooooooooooooa and you talking about how nice my chord progression is on my beat "petty". Maaaaaaaaaaaan you blew me away with that smooth sine bend sound and the progression. Bro I'll always be a student of yours lol you stay dope with the r&b chords
To be honest I've never really had a hard time finding leads. Any sine, triangle or square wave lead usually does the job. It's more about adding pitch bend and modulation to get the R&B vibe.
I’m still tryna figure my way around all this but when you said it I was like ok I’m in the right direction lol it was funny because I was like I don’t know how to play well and can use midi packs and then you said that too I was like 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 lol the artist I work with is going to be too happy lol
Haha that’s really good to hear Brittni and thank you for the support!!! Hope your artist likes what you’re gonna cook up with the new sounds and progressions!!
I'm sure you're a busy man but it's a shame you don't upload that much because honestly your videos are always the ones where I learn the most, such great content. This video was soooo helpful, thank you Stefan!
For sure. This is rent to own though, so you’ll eventually own it. And I believe it still cost the same amount overall, there’s no interest added and you can pause your payments whenever, if you decide you cannot afford the payment one month or do not need it one month. Bottom line is you’ll eventually own it out right. That’s why I like this modal. I don’t recommend subscriptions/renting unless the cost is inconsequential to someone.
After hearing how effortless your playing is I had to buy your chord pack. I'm going to learn those progressions and of course just use the midi when I'm lazy. You're an inspiration, man.
Hey man, ah appreciate your support man thank you! Glad to hear that you’re going to learn but 100% hope you found the chord progressions useful in the meantime!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Tried to copy this preset but didn't get the rising note effect, until I tied envelope 2 to global pitch in the matrix section. Didn't realize how to do that first. Thanks for a great video Stefan, really cool stuff 🙌
A friend asked what the fuss was about Serum and this was exactly my point. Not got it yet, but want it. You can make similar sounds on Vital. But would happily pay for presets “soulect” is a really good one.
ajkehrgve thank you so much 😭 ive really wanted to get into making rnb and had no idea where to start, then i found ur channel. seriously, all the love you have no idea how grateful i am-
I did and felt exactly the same as you and did this 2 months ago. I was looking for the same sounds found synth hacker then paid 30 quid for his serum sounds pack. Then I rented serum for a month on splice. Then I discovered Vital which is free and basically the same as Serum. And now I know I’m just gonna have to learn how to make this sounds and how they work as my next level up as a producer. It was a good starter pack but I’d suggest learning how to do this all in Vital if you wanna save money lol.
You’ve literally helped me so much in these couple of months since I decided to pursue the music route. Honestly thank you so much, would be a dream to collaborate with you one day 🤞🏻❤️🙏🏻
A lot of artists starts out in RnB and move on to other genres such as pop . . . . over time as they gain experiences and opportunities to work with other artists
its pretty cool - actually that same hack (modulating the pitch via envelope) is pretty much one of the ways of making your own boomy 808 bass ...and if you dig deeper you can even make your own drums like that too, blew my mind
