How to Make Homemade Sachet Bags DIY!!! Learn the BEST Sachet Base! I am going to show you how to make sachets; bags & envelopes. And, different recipes & bases that you can use. Plus, I'm revealing the BEST sachet base- so stick around until the end!!!
RECIPE (each is made with a 1/2 cup of base: Granular- 20 ml. fragrance. Cellulose corn Fiber- 10 ml. fragrance. Vermiculite- 30 ml. fragrance. NOTE: *** Cure all bases at least 2 weeks
BASES: There are many sachet bases but today I am going to be talking about 4 in particular: granular, aroma beads, vermiculite, & cellulose corn fiber. I purchased a ton of the rocky granular sachet base a long time ago & have been experimenting with it since. It holds a good amount of FO (fragrance oil), but it leaves behind an earthy/metallic scent that can ruin an entire batch (depending on FO used). The corn fiber base is very hard & doesn’t absorb much scent. But, what it does absorb it puts out really strong & depletes quickly! ** VERMICULITE base is soft & fluffy. I blended this base in the blender to grind really big chunks down. This base absorbs the most FO for sure! AROMA BEADS: • Diy Air Freshener With... * BLENDS & FILLERS: You can blend any base together & add any filler that you want! I recommend only adding fillers that hold scent. PACKAGING: Organza bags are the most used, most versatile, & most affordable! I would only use the heavy material like burlap & lace for very special occasions as they can be pricey! NOTE: ** Make sure package is secure; envelope flap must be glued/taped down & bags must be tied tightly & double knotted! ENVELOPES: The advantage of envelopes is that you can easily personalize them… OR make your OWN! Making the envelopes were SO much fun! *NOTE: Small, wet dots appear on the envelope, but should disappear within a day or 2! FILLING SACHETS: Cure base fully BEFORE packaging. USING SACHETS: Sachets work the best in small, confined, or closed spaces. I like to put mine in my drawers, closets, overnight bag, & in my car. * They make great favors, too! SACHET SCENT TIME: The amount of time that sachets put out scent depends on several factors: base, FO, space size, etc. The smaller the space, the stronger the sachet will be. Sachets last a really long time, but, the scent looses strength/pungency over time. RESULTS: Vermiculite is the clear winner here & right behind it was aroma beads. Aroma beads aren't specifically made for sachets, but I already had it made- so why not use it? Corn fiber placed above granular for the simple reason that it didn’t have that metallic/earthy side-note to it. The granular sachet was a bit stronger but I consider that less important if the scent doesn’t smell good! Once you are ready to use them, simply hang them in the car, toss them in a drawer, gym bag, etc.!
