The Best Season in Fortnite History... (hear me out) 

Season 5 was amazing, the summer going into sophmore year, had my first gf at the time, no stress and could play with all my buddies until 4 am. What I would do to go back to those days

Season 7-8 was when I had the most fun with this game personally. I really liked the map changes and it was just a blast all around

It’s not just nostalgia that made seasons 1 - 4 good. Just like you’d think about the games meta, think about the games vibe and how it made you feel. The simplicity and chilled vibe from seasons 1 - 4 was what made them top tier.

Kinda disappointed to see season 7 at the lowest spot. In my opinion, I think that season 7 was the best Christmas themed season. That’s what really made it fun.

season 4 to me was the GREATEST SEASON ever, i had so much stuff happening to me at the same time (good things) and this just added it, and i just loved it so much

Chapter 2 Season 2 is underrated. The feeling of being in the Agency trying to fight Midas while enemy players closed in was unmatched.

Chapter 2 season 2 was amazing because it came after a content drought from season 1 bringing vaults, bosses, mythical brought back, as well as the best poi, the grotto. Which is why it’s my favorite season.

Season 5 or 6 for sure cause things were changing every day and there’s always something to look forward to definitely the best seasons

Personally I'm not blinded by nostalgia, I just really believe that the best version of fortnite is when it's super chaotic. Fortnite was super fun but then they started vaulting all the items the game became more competitive oriented. I physically laugh now when the vaulted gamemode comes out because it's just so much more stupid fun.

Chapter 2 Season 2 was my first ever season and it seems it was the best time to be playing, such a blast and so many memories with my friends

I see several people saying that they're glad Sypher didn't rank based on "nostalgia bias" etc, which is fine. The man attempted to give a non biased review of each season and I respect that. But here is the thing about nostalgia... We as humans only experience nostalgia over things that we found enjoyable and interesting in the past. Yes, objectively the game runs better now. It's more optimized. It has more going for it on paper. But "more" doesn't always mean "better." The saying "less is more" exists for a reason. Yes, the game was objectively in a worse technical state in the past, and the older seasons did have less to do than the newer seasons...but we all look back fondly on the older seasons for a reason: we had more fun. Yes, you could argue that it's just because the game was new. But here's the thing...video games weren't new when this game released. Online video games weren't new. Regular updates in games weren't new. The season that I believe everyone views the most fondly is c1s4, for example. Let's look at the facts - this season had turbo building in a similar state to how we have it now; people were getting better at the game at this point; the game had been out almost a year at this point, with regular updates up to then; the community was huge; and a very large majority of us view it as the best - including Sypher himself. Why do you think that is? It's simple: SIMPLICITY. The game was simple. This is not a novel concept. There was less to do and there was less do distract us in this season, but it had reached a point of being very established. The fun we had was the fun that we created for ourselves. Why do you think that a game such as minecraft continues to also have a massive popularity such as fortnite? Why do you think that the communities of both games view the older iterations as the most fun and memorable? Just think about it people. Before you decide to count out nostalgia: remember...there is a reason that nostalgia exists. Simple games that are good always explode in popularity, but when the game becomes too busy, convoluted, and "crazy" it begins to die out. Games that release as too "crazy" from the get go never see success. Games that retain their simplicity see continued success. You can add WoW classic, everquest 1, etc to that mix as well. People like playing well grounded, but simple games with their friends, because that is where they make the most memories. Nostalgia is an important factor to rating things such as seasons in fortnite, because that nostalgia exists for a reason. Have a good one, friends.

My favorite seasons were when tilted was in the game.. I remember hiding in the bathroom while there were like 25 people running everywhere. The shooting, building, the hype. I'll never see that again.

Ok so I might be very bias Bc I started getting back into fortnite in Chapter 2 season 2 but I think it was such a big change for fortnite. With chapter 2 coming out fortnite needed a big new mechanic like mythical, vaults and bosses. It was such a fun way to spend time in quarantine. I think it was an amazing change to the game and I wish that they bring back something similar very soon. Just with boss poi’s and specific guns that are only accessible when killing a boss.
