Hey all! Welcome to a video that was actually incredibly hard to make about the Best Secrets in Every Mario Game! Of course I couldnt include EVERY SINGLE SECRET as then the video would be about a day long. I included pretty much an overview of HOW secrets work in each game. You don’t actually have to put the potion on the jar to warp in SMB2. You just need to enter the correct jar while in subspace. If the warp jar is onscreen and accessible when you enter the subspace door, you can go into the jar to warp, regardless of where the door was placed.

People used to not believe me about causing white mushroom houses to appear lol it's almost always a level where you'll need to grab every coin available, sometimes it'll create white mushroom houses or some levels will give you a money boat.

15:15 Wrong! NSMBDS had the stars aswell. First for beating the game, second for finding every secret exit and third for collecting and spending all star coins.

And Copy Cat's explanation of how you get the file stars in NSMBW is wrong too! Here's the correct one: 1 star: Beat the game. 2 stars: Complete every normal level in the first eight worlds. 3 stars: Collect all star coins from the first eight worlds. 4 stars: Collect all star coins from World 9. 5 stars: Use all cannons.

I'm pretty sure all those "secret" moves in Sunshine, except possibly the Yoshi spin, are in the instruction manual, lol. At least, that's how I discovered them.

14:50 you mentioned the Zelda reference by seeing a rupiah but failed in 2:26 when talking about the wrap whistle in smb3. The sound the whistle makes is a direct reference to TLOZ where Link would use the flute to transport between dungeons. The tornado is also the same that transport them.

I remember how amazing it felt when I discovered the SMB warp zones as a kid in the 80s. Especially the one with the giant mushroom platforms that led to the 6-7-8 warp zone. Such an awesome feeling.

In Mario Sunshine I loved figuring out the more advanced moves, I never thought about it as "why didn't Nintendo tell me about this", it was always figuring out new moves for expert players who put in the time to experiment with the controls

My favorite secrets in Super Mario World (SNES) was the secret path in castle #2 which goes to a 1-up game room and skips the second room entirely, and the secret path in castle #7 with the last 3 dragon coins. They're so secret that the official guidebook for the game didn't even include them. :)

Harley Oyelade If by it not being very helpful you mean the punching in Mario 64 then I agree the only time I’ve ever used that button is to pick up things and throw them or grab tails and swing them around....... There’s a reason why the only time it ever appears again is with Super Smash Bros!

The way you can tell a jar is a warp jar in SMB2 is that you can’t go into it unless you’re in sub space Just like how sunspace reverses everything, it makes vases you can’t enter into vases you can enter and they take you to the warp!

I definitely thought you were going to mention the "top secret area" in Super Mario World. It was a special exit from the first ghost house. The entire level was just 2 flowers, 2 feathers and a Yoshi. To be fair, that whole game felt like a big old lump of golden secrets though. Could have just been the pre-web era and not having access to guides etc. Still, cool video dude!

Oops! without looking up any guides as I grew up in the 90s I can tell you there's one more level that has those secret elevators in Super Mario Land. in 3-2 there actually is an elevator that brings you up and then you can go inside a pipe that has a bunch of coins. That clip with the exploding watermelon was definitely unexpected and funny

You don't have to launch the potion on the jar to get the warp. You just have to have the jar accessible in the sub zone when you step through the door.

@@supervak5584 Ah yeah I get you. I'm still blown away by the amount of creativity they put into super mario bros 2. They didn't introduce anything new mechanics wise like they did with oddysey, but they still manage to build really clever levels and always have something new to show you with how they make use of the existing mechanics. Just saddened that the game was so short

Awesome video! For the coin ships in SMB3, you don't need the time on the clock to be even. You just need the 10's digit of your score to match the coin multiple of 11 after the remaining time is converted into points. So for example, if you have 33 coins and 30 points, grab the card on an even second. With 80 points, grab the card on an odd second.

I noted this too. Also, I'm not sure if I'd say the coin ships are harder to achieve than the Toad Houses. I did a full 100% runthrough of SMB3 a year or so back and those White Houses gave me much more trouble than the ships. Especially in world seven - saving a frog suit or two (or three) isn't that hard, but even with it the timer on the P-switch is ridiculously short. If you don't get all, kill yourself and try again until you run out of Frog Suits. One time I even got ****ed by the website I got my info from since they listed you needed fewer coins than you actually need. I then found 3 contradicting sources on how many was actually needed... so in that sense it's a great secret indeed.

Theres also a SUPER EASY to get secret in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. After getting 99 lives Mario loses his hat permanently, besides the penguin suit and propeller suit. I mean, it IS a secret

Completely failed to mention what happens when you beat star world tubular levels. The season changes in the entire game from spring to fall. Entire color palette change and new enemies

I actually have a consistent strategy for getting the treasure ship in Mario 3 on the first level. Also, from someone who plays and has beaten the Lost Levels several times, the secret flagpole 1-up isn't actually that hard to trigger on most flagpoles if you're careful with your coin count, and getting it frequently helps make the game much easier.

It's actually not terribly hard to beat SMW in under 20 minutes if you take the secret path straight to bowser's castle. All together you have to beat like 8 or 9 stages to get to the end without glitching.

I think the princess slide star, where you have to complete it in a certain time, is the most hidden star because there's no indication in the game that you had to do it. Took me years later to find it when a friend told me how to get it.

I’m SMB 3 when you were comparing the white mushroom house and treasure ship. I agree the house is easier but as a kid by accident I got the ship way more than the house. It’s weird, then Nintendo power started coming to my house. Oh baby! Great video

10:40 it’s not actually 4 equal zones for the different times. The 12 zone is really small while 6 is second smallest and 3 and 9 are the biggest.

One- Super Mario 3D World - winning with all chars is easy. Pause and join them all right before a flag grab. Two- if you hold flag with every character the level flag changes from a green star on hold flag, to a sparkly gold star.

In 1-1 from NSMBW there is a secret room next to the last rolling hill. If you dont go in the pipe there but stand still on it, than you can enter a secret room with 3 1-ups and a lot of coins

In SMW, if you go to the underwater level on Star Road with a Yoshi, the egg that hatches gives you a Star instead of the blue Yoshi. If you can swim fast enough while killing all the Rip Van Winkles along the way, you’ll come to another block that gives you another star, letting you continue your sushi slaughter. If you do it right, you can get 15 or so free lives. Also, I think it’s Vanilla Secret 2, halfway through the level there is a grey P-switch. If you grab it and bring it back to the beginning where all the Koopa Troopas are, it turns them into silver coins. After you collect enough, you start getting free lives. I think you can get 10 or so.

Some SMW secrets you missed that are awesome SMW- If you go to the top ghost house in donut plain and fly against the left edge of the start location, you can access the Top secret area In the special zone, if you wait in the map for a while the music will change to the mario theme If you complete the special zone, the sprites change and the world changes colors (the ending credits change too) In the GBA version, if you collect all the coins in donut plains 1 sub area birds will appear and bounce around the area

my favourite secret in smw is the super secret area. you have to take a specific path in the ghost house and you'll find a normal looking door which leads to a normal looking flagpole thingy. not exactly a flagpole in super mario world but whatever. when you walk through it you'll find that on the map screen the super secret area has been unlocked.

You forgot about the secret area you can reveal by finding the secret exit (in Super Mario World) - by flying all the way on top of the left part of the screen and scrolling over right - in the first ghost house. The area will appear on the main map screen and you can keep going back in there repeatedly in order to keep getting Yoshi over and over until you end with infinite lives!

Speaking as someone who was around when Mario 1 was new, nobody figured out the warp zones on their own. It was word of mouth on the school bus. I mean, I'm sure some people did find it on their own, but I'd say 99.9% of us did not.

3:15 the warp whistles not useless, you can use it to go back from world 8 to world 2, 3, 4 again on the warp map screen.

In SMB3 the score doesn't necessarily have to be the same digit as if you have 33 coins and your score ends in 80 getting an odd number on the timer will make it 30 and will still work the same way

I did have 5 stars in Super Mario 3D world. Me and a friend would play every level twice. The second time you could just run trough. And when I unlocked Rosalina, I just played again. Haha. I was so proud. Still have that world....

Dude I think Top Secret was probably the hardest 2nd exit to find. I mean who the hell would have though to fly at that tiny gap at the beginning? I Didn't know about it until my buddy pointed it out.
