I bought the sbdc051 when I first saw it. Definitely a great bang for buck tool watch. I am so impressed with the finish of the steel and the bracelet. Because of this I hardly wearmy swiss pieces!

Just received mine last week. Omg this thing is a frickin beauty. From the diashield coating the.domed sapphire and the attention too detail wowsa. Have mine on uncleseiko tropic and diff nato straps because I cannpt stand the lint magnet strap that comes on it.

I have this watch for a little over a month now and love it! Runs about -5 seconds day the dial is beautiful. Easily doubles as a tool and dress watch, I like the silicon strap but it is a huge dust magnate I will be buying the bracelet that comes with the black version 051. Very happy with this Seiko it’s a winner.

Good review, don't need all the dialogue about changing to a nato strap....Don't typically mod my watches and am interested in the stock rubber strap. Definitely don't put leather or cloth straps on watches I dive with.

Hi there, the Shogun you've shown us is 44mm in diameter but when placed next to the SBDC 053, it looks extremely similar in size even though the SBDC is 42.6mm according to Seiko specs. Are the actual dials close in size or is there a significant difference between the two? Thanks!

The Shogun is just slightly larger, 1.4mm isn't much difference. The dials look pretty close in size as the insert on the Shogun bezel is a bit larger.

Great thanks for the info. I've been looking at the 055 variant for a while but was afraid the dial would be too small for me. I've never seen it in person but have seen a Turtle so in comparison, it should be fine based off of what you replied. Thanks again.

Knowtheledge _ longer lug too lug and the.case is totally different. Id say it fits like a sumo but not as big.

It takes a 20MM strap, make sure that you get one that includes pins, or order additional pins as the oversize Seiko pins won't fit through most straps. Most straps come with pins, or have them built in. I really like the Barton straps as they require no tool to install, there's a push pin on the inside of the strap, it's super easy.

I want to like this watch, I really do, however, rectangular hour markers look 'dressy' to me. This watch looks like it doesn't know whether it wants to be a dressy watch or a dive/tool watch. I like Seiko however, it's irritating that they seem to keep their best watches for the Japanese market. I'm about to convert to Team Steinhart.

Funny: people with fresh uncluttered view watch the same things differently. To me these mechanical watches today looking super-bulky and overly heavy in comparison with modern watches that are built using modern materials and technologies. For example, this watch viewed from side-view in its profile showing ugly belly, but you call its profile "beautiful"
