The Best Settings for New Guild Wars 2 Players 

Chat Chanel "Story" - say, party, and npc. Use it for when you are playing newly released content e.g. Story mode. You block out the world to prevent spoilers but can still get some help if physical nearby other players.

Thank you for video. Only want to add that LOD is "Level of Detail". Basically each object in the game (characters, buildings, trees, walls etc.) has multiple representations: LOD 0 (which is most details version), LOD 1, LOD 2... depends on how many developers have decided to use. But the idea is that LOD 0 is used for close to the player objects, and higher number is a lower level of detail of that same object. So in-game option "LOD Distance" allows to influence on this distance -- when to switch to next object LOD.

Dude! Thank you for showing me how to move my minimap to the top! That's where I prefer mine and I did not know you could do that in GW2.

As someone who had horrible lag/ect, enabling DX11 beta could also help you. It solved a lot of my issues with my GW2.

My biggest gripe with the graphics settings is they don't let you save your own settings. You get the three basic options which are great to change on the fly, especially when there are tons of people on the screen at an event and you want low settings. But the problem comes when I want to switch back to my own settings. There is no option to do so. You have to manually change things back and forth which is a massive inconvenience.

Really nice. If you are a newish player reading these comments before viewing the video, bring pen and paper to take notes! Lots of stuff you will want to remember for the next time you go into the game to make tweaks.

Also worth noting: DPI Scaling forces the HUD & text Scaling from Windows OS. This will likely cause all GW2 HUD elements to be blurry /interpolated. Uncheck to see and use the 'Interface size' option instead. This uses the application specific 1:1 Scaling. Especially cleaner for text if running windows 10

I just started playing recently, and honestly I'm not sold on the game at all, but my boyfriend loves it and so I'm trying to like it more so we can play together. :P The "player chatter" setting, which I found about a week ago, was a freaking godsend. This video helped me to actually get into WvW. Before the Team colors thing I maybe managed 6fps in a zerg now I can actually fight.

DX11 is fully releasing on May 10th, and since I read that on a forum post i've had no really terrible issues with it at all

On the topic of action-camera. I disagree with the statement that action-cam may be limiting. With a proper set-up of keybinds and targeting setting, not only is the action cam as good as standard, it is much better. Ex. While in standard cam you strafe left to right or walk backwards with about 50-75% of your run speed. On the other hand, action-cam makes the movement work in 360° where when you press the 'strafe' buttons or 'back' button, your character will turn to that direction and run that way at full speed with zero down time for turning. If you attack, on the other hand, you will instead strafe or back-pedal so as to be able to attack towards the target. Also, targeting in action-cam is instant and based on the cross-hair. You can still lock onto target, but it is unessesary since melee attack anything in range, projectiles are aimed at a target but do not follow it (missing is entirely possible with both standard and action cams) and target specifics will target the closest enemy to the cross hair or character if no target is selected or is out of reach, depending on whether action cam is on or off. Imo the added mobility alone is enough to make action-cam supirior. But in the end, it is still a preference, but let's at least agree that it's not a choice made due to mechanical issues.

I'm about to get a new pc. I say it's a high end one and I'm excited to play gw2 in high settings and high fps. I've been playing in a shitty laptop and been contended playing at 38 fps for 6 months at the lowest quality 🤣 I only get 60 fps on core tyria maps where I'm the only one playing. I'm looking for settings guide and this one is just right in time.

Man, I've been playing for years, I know some settings are relatively new. But the one about rewards 5:10... Man, perfection. It's sad however that it shows you a glimpse before hiding them :'( Edit: I noticed that you can hide the glimpse of the chest when you receive it by simply unchecking "Temporarily show UI for notifications" as is shown in the video.

Hey Vallun, nice video, i have a question, i was trying how it feels the "instant cast" and the "fast with range indicator" on the ground target options, but if i select them instead of normal, the n4 skill on harbinger shroud wont do the leap to enemy instead makes the toon leap where it stands, what am i doing wrong? im not using key binds thou(maybe thats the problem?)

I had an issue after updating my GPU drivers (or maybe I didn't notice it as much before). Whenever i would spin the camera, the shadows would spaz out and I would see outlines of shadows in walls and shit. I have a GTX 1660 XS Super (and apparently it happens with 3070s too). Tried everything in game and in the NVIDIA GeForce experience app (have everything set to application controlled, same goes for Catalyst control centre, it avoids a lot of headaches). Turns out it was OpenGL/Open3D. Open the NVIDIA control panel and just turn it off, make sure your monitor brightness and gamma settings and stuff are also application controlled. Took me 3 hours to figure out that bullshit.

I started playing yesterday. The game is great, excited to hit max lvl as well. Is there any point in buying last expansions? Playing crusader (I main WoW- playing ret paladin mostly).

Would you recommend collecting everything on the map? Aka Vistas and the Hearts etc

Hello. Thx for you nice clips. I am new at GW2 and have a lot of issues because I came from PS5 elder scrolls online. 1) when you are using WASD how can you reach 1-5? For me it feels bad because I have to take the fingers of my moving keys. I just use the action camera. So you have right clip for target and left click for spamming. Do you think this is a problem? 2) which class and build is easy to handle? I just play with spellbreaker and I die so much. I am not able to win a fight. I was a good player in other games. But here it doesn’t work :/

The difference you show at the start is a bit missleading as one is taken at night, and the other during daytime. Lighting is different depending on day/night. U should have put both night/day.

its all nice settings until you update nvidia driver and gefuck experience overwrites everything... and I was wondering why WvW became so laggy again...

Sorry, but some of this is just not logiacl at ALL: - DPI Scaling should ALWAYS be off due to issues with addons and blurry text - DX11 should almost ALWAYS be on even in beta. There are hardly any bugs at this point and if you got a somewhat newish (im talking like GTX1000 upwards) PC you won't have an issue, but experience like 50% fps increase in some zones. - also the 60fps Lock is weird.

I want to play the game but keyboard and mouse ain't for me and the steam controller thing is clunky I don't know why they can't act controller support Final Fantasy XIV did guess I'll stick with them why they winning wow controller add-on is okay but there trail sucks can't see if I really like the game

I can't enjoy it because it has a very difficult movement and control, otherwise the game is beautiful, it looks like it came out of a beautifully drawn book with magical stories. But that's all, I can't enjoy pvp because I can't coordinate movements and stuff left over.

I absolutely hate GW2 UI. Icons are way too small in a completely invisible spot (Boons/condis). Which makes it hard to play for me. I came from WoW years ago, tried the game and could not stay. I missied proper PvP arenas, but I could live with that. Lack of addons or customization to the UI made it unbearable. Lack of constant DPS meter is also cursed.
