Outstanding review (as always) of what looks like a fantastic speaker, though I'm still surprised every time I see that Satori WG tweeter - I don't think anyone else sells a naked Be dome, for good reason. They really need a grille on it. If SB doesn't do it I hope Alan considers doing something like TAD does on their Be concentric drivers (grille over the whole thing with a scrim behind it). One aspect of the performance you touched on briefly that especially impressed me is the vertical directivity - what hole there is points down to the floor! Moreover, the response above axis looks good enough to easily pass the sit-stand tonality test if you place them at seated ear level (most stands are too short, but another pet peeve for another day...).. That's just exceptional control of the forward lobe.

@C--A
@C--A Год назад
@@hideopalescent Wrong! Beryllium tweeters are only toxic in the raw material, and during the manufacturing process. Once the speaker is manufactured the Beryllium tweeter doesn't give off any toxins into the air 👍🏾 If a Beryllium tweeter has a grill cover it's simply a aesthetic or performance choice by the speaker designer/manufacturer 👌🏾
@Voidrunner01
@Voidrunner01 Год назад
@@hideopalescent You're not going to get any dust generated by the tweeter dome unless you take sandpaper to it and snort the dust. And even then, you'd be hard-pressed to get enough exposure for any serious issues. It's a problem during manufacturing with occupational exposure, yes. For the end-user, not so much.

Erin, how well does it produce kick drums and explosions etc? I note you remark on that in some other reviews and for me the instantaneous response on some sounds is a "problem point" or struggle. I'm actually looking at these for myself and would find a few extra independent remarks valuable.

@@ErinsAudioCorner They go deeper than the much larger floor standers they replaced, exhibit no noticeable bass boomey frequencies in my room, are dead silent (no quiet hiss without music playing), and just feel completely at ease no matter what is thrown at them in my opinion. I'd spent a long time trying different speakers, and the ones I liked most in the past always made something specific stand out in a piece of music that I really liked, usually it would be an instrument that would get my attention. But these speakers nothing stands out within music, everything just sounds awesome and I feel like I can just listen to music more and not focus on what the speakers are accentuating.

@@mutsukabure Hi, I'm wondering after your time with the speakers if you could offer a perspective on how they do in action movies and music with very decisive dynamic needs like kick drums. Do you get that visceral 'kick' from them and a sense of the real fullness in the notes? Do they have the dynamic range to play a movie at reference (I'm assuming you have decent amplification that isn't the limiting factor)? I would be using a sub with them (I'm considering them now on my shortlist) and listen at about 3m.
