BARC speeders are really great designs. The ability to take a sidecar or a stretcher is quite nice. For the average citizen of a galaxy far far away that translate to having some decent cargo capacity. Although the Wiki "5kg" cargo capacity doesn't make sense unless you think a wounded clone is 5kg. Really what I'd want is something able to handle a couple saddlebags and maybe a repulsor trailer, or sidecar for more cargo.
Yeah, the Mobquest Swoop [Anakins bike] with its 200kg cargo capacity on a rack, would be the most pragmatic one if you were taking the figures given as absolute gospel. That's approaching the cargo weight a modern small car can carry.
I don’t know how much an adult female corpse weighs, but I reckon the reason the Zephyr-G has such a high cargo capacity is because they based it off the scene where he took his mother back to the Lars homestead.
The 5 tons of cargo listed in the wiki is also an odd choice. For the purposes of this video, I assumed it to mean towing capacity, but technically it doesn’t say that anywhere…
Not on the list but Enfys Nest's Caeli-Merced Skyblade-330 Swoop seems good for hit and situations and can fly at High Alititude levels like a LAAT or T-47 Snowspeeder.
No lie the AVA 614 Speeder Bike would be the one I’d take if I was in the Star Wars universe. And I could mod it to add other things like storage compartments & it folding up to save space is something I would like to have to store aboard a ship of mine.
Swoops are supposed to be engine and basic controls. (Fastest & hardest to pilot). While speeder bike's are safer, easier to pilot and more expensive. Think of speeder bike's as Harley Davidson's. And Swoops as Crotch Rockets. This is according to lore, yet video games, rpg games and their Sourcebooks keep getting them backwards. And now tv shows & movies are making the same mistakes.
I agree about what Swoops are supposed to be vs. how they're portrayed in media. I have an old guide to vehicles and vessels that said that a swoop was short coupled fast but fragile ride, not for the faint of heart. Speeder Bikes were a more general class of simple air speeders that could include swoops but generally referred to a more rugged, utilitarian machine, more like a Harley Davidson or a Honda Goldwing than a crotch rocket. There was also an S-Swoop which was not so short coupled and easier to fly than the stereotypical swoop but still far more performance oriented than one's standard speeder bike. I had written a series of stories about a smuggler character who started out as a swoop courier who had eventually built up a short coupled swoop from scratch to keep him one step ahead of the swoop gangs who were trying to cut into his boss's action. The swoop eventually came to grief and was replaced with a modified S-Swoop.
