if you are new keep in mind that the attempt and completion average is based only on surfers that can complete the maps so it's likely going to take way more time and attempts for a beginner to complete those maps

surf summer is a solid map to learn on though. t1 for a lot of it and a solid variety of movements and fundamentals.

I always recommend surf_beginner as a good first map.. and surf_rookie as a map to learn gradually harder stages even though they likely won't beat it at first. And even surf_lt_omnific first 6 stages are very good for beginners as it teaches you some basic things in surf which can be very helpful to apply to other maps.

ngl, I should watch your other content so much more than I do. Each one is a treat.... and I should probably learn the fundamentals. I've learned a lot surfing on my own, but I forgor turnbinds existed. That would make things easier.

funny to see surf_mom_fix on this list. mom_fix was 5th last map I completed out of all tier1 maps (around 120maps). I spent multiple hours on that last stage...

Hey repster. Im currently trying to grind to rank up. Whats the best strat? Ive been going back to maps that ive already played and getting groups and fully completing them. Than once im done doing it to every map ill try new one's.

First of all make sure you're having fun! Don't burn out or stress too much about getting better. In order it would be - 1. Learn to use saveloc 2. Learn to use Turnbinds 3. Focus on the highest tier maps you can (t4, t5, t6) The only problem with groups is that your movement isnt restricted. You might be doing something badly and not know it. Higher tier maps force you to learn it.

This video seemed to do on the good side of average, I wonder if you could reuse the format but for intermediate so people have and idea what t2 maps they should try first. (then t3 -> t4 if you find yourself out of ideas one week)

you should join an empty surf server and !nominate surf_leet_xl_beta7z, then rtv to change the map the map might not be on right now, but any empty server will likely have it

(e: THERE WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING) hey repster, that list is really nice for linear maps, but a stage map with hundred t1 stages don't become harder than a stage map with one t1 stage (that is=linear), or do I misunderstand something, the list only includes the attempts of the hardest stage at each stage map?

I honestly don't know how ksf spit out the "avg attempts" stat, but I tried to test it with Anubis. It SHOULD be the average of attempts across all stages. So if last takes 100 attempts and first takes 1, avg ~50. If u don't have access to the doc I can DM it to you, maybe u can take a look.

@@Repster hmmmmm, yeah, i tried to figure it out before, i remember it as i couldnt find the information in the doc. but i concluded it by intuition because, as you see, 24 maps out of 25 are linear on that list (and the only stage map ofc. only has 3 stages). seems very strange, frankly! i can see explanations. the obvious one is that the oldest maps are linear, but there are many new maps on that list too, hmmmmm, might be wrong

@@Repster Sorry, I misunderstood something. It's because I looked at your list 0:05 and that is the list of only linear maps. But I have seen the document now. I believe you are right that that is how it is measured (but there is no information about it), though that is still a problematic way to measure it, for example, sinsane b4 don't become easier regardless of how many t1 stages you beat before it. But I won't go into detail since it is has never meant to perfect either, but just a rough indicator and as such it does a fine job. But I wish it explained what "Fetch Staged/Linear" means.

Only real comment I have is on something you mention at the end of the video, that you should stick to t1 and 2 maps until you can complete them in a few minutes before moving to t3. I don't agree with this thinking, even if it takes you 30 minutes to beat t2's, if you can beat several of them it's worth trying t3's. I really don't think people should be waiting until they can beat t2's blind in just a few minutes before moving on.

@@Flop1999 I have to disagree with that. If you're trying to improve, you should play outside of your comfort zone because harder maps force you to learn the proper way instead of wasting time smacking all t2 ramps over and over again.

progress teaches a lot more than utopia which is sort of why it was in the video, its a fair bit harder than some of the other maps but it's supposed to be the "end" goal of beginner knowledge and a good milestone, utopia can't supply that in the same way

You should first look for an empty surf server (just type surf_ in the map section.) Then, join a server, do !nominate surf_xyz, and type rtv in chat. Then vote for the map of your choice and it should take you there! Otherwise, just play any map you like, as this was just a guide for very beginner surfers.

unfortunately I never use the workshop/offline maps, they lack the necessary plugins and map fixes. you should hop on to an empty server and play there! (or use gamebanana)

how2surf and year3000 for me are the most obvious ones apart from these. then obviously mesa and beginner. after than both rebels. summit an andromeda better than boreas imho to learn at least. then reytx, deoa, garden, rookie, beyond and colum up and 2. het and surf_n_turf are also fun but challenging for new people. for the easiest tier2s: benevolent, classics, premium, orthodox, oasis, boring, lore, summer syria and ethereal more or less. old non unit staged maps are the best to start grinding. cuz fuck unit.

out of your t2s id personally remove classics, oasis and boring. classics is very long and dated with some stages newer players will probably get stuck on. oasis has that one antigrav section with the holes which is a pain in the ass to do consistently. boring is extremely frustrating and feels harder than it actually is. out of all of those i think benevolent, orthodox and lore are the best
