This is one of the cooler camping set ups I have ever seen. So happy for you and look forward to seeing future videos of all the places you'll go with it!
Can’t believe I just discovered this channel! Excellent videos and ideas man, have a model Y and have always been thinking about camping in it. Hope you reach new heights!
Not sure if it can stand up in high wind??$$?? It seems that with out the rods .....with the blow up structure is BAD though not sure about that it's just common sense because I've been tent camping a lot
Thanks Jerrod! Haha, well it works to a certain degree on the off-road part unless the car is moded more for off-roading. Camping on its own is comfy with AC/heating on. 😃
The tent is great UNTIL IT RAINS!!! I have owned many tents and camped in all conditions, I have never experienced it raining inside the tent as well as outside. I contacted MKCAMP about this and they refused the 12mo warranty (I originally asked for a discount to cover the cost of waterproofing it myself) and said they definitely waterproofed the tent properly and the problem must be that I didn't set it up. They sent me the setup video and suggested I try following the instructions and zipping it up properly, which was incredibly insulting. The setup was not exactly rocket science. I live in Vancouver, which is a temperate rainforest. So I have a $1200 shade structure, I guess.
two questions, 1# how do you turn off the light on the rear door of model t? 2# when you open the rear door, model y will think you are ready to drive, so it will heating battery all the time, which will consume lots of your miles. more than this, you can not lock you model y, you can not turn on camping model. how you solve these problems? I called tesla service they told me, they can not support this way of using model y, means they will do nothing, all our fault to deal with it.
I'm a little unclear about what advantage this has over the usual stand alone tent, of which there are many including pump-up tents, which could be pitched alongside the car. That leaves the option of using the tent for everything, in the usual way, or using it for cooking, sitting and eating and then use the Tesla for sleeping for 1 or 2 people.
Well with the tent attached to car you could use what is called utility mode(Thats what is called with the Kia EV6). With it in that mode at least for the EV6 you could use the AC or heat and it will heat or cool everything including the tent. Also the outlet in the car could be used with more room inside the tent to have electronics if you care for that kind of stuff. Basically could make a big little house if you want with AC and heat.
Your videos are legendary, mate. Try getting in front of the camera more. I think you will improve as a personality over time, and I think we want to get to know you! Big love from Florida
I have always wondered about how rigid, how solid these inflatable tents are in high winds. I’m talking winds of 45 to 50 mph. We get those winds regularly in the arid southwest regions of the US.
Cool setup, how high is the tent, im 6'3 or 190cm, not sure if I'll be able to stand. If you're sleeping in the Tesla can you close the boot with the tent attached. Is there a button to open the boot from the inside.
No, that’s not necessary since the car only uses about 8% energy for the climate during the night, and using gasoline defeats the whole purpose of an EV.
Thanks Andrei! If you fully attach all the components, then you won't be able to close the trunk. I think you can close it if you undo the zipper and velcro inside the trunk area, that way the cover can still be attached on the outside.
You didn't use the tesla to warm up the tent? Is there a reason for that? Seems the main benefit of tesla is for climate control? BTW you might want to check out the James Baroud Oddessy hardshell and falcon 270 awning as well. Or the Crua outdoors 'crucoon' + tarp setup.
As always, cool video! Do you know if the tent can be set up to attach to the side of a Tesla, cos that’s where I go in and out into the bed… (model 3)
@@LivinginTesla I found their website but they have like thousands of products and no search on the site. And we don't even get a product name. Just the brand name. Again you know you can make a commission by selling your gear list. I used to build websites but I think you know there is a time and a place for everything. I think your gearlist should be upfront and center right here an Amazon gearlist and you'll make a residual as time moves forward. I don't really like Jeff bezos but he's the only person we can do business with right now.
