Nice compilation of eating Thai food at 3 different restaurants ending with a homemade pad see ew. Blaine is a great eating companion, good interaction and chemistry between the two of you. So cute when he said he did not know how to eat crab and then just dove in. Also, has great chopstick skills. Nice vdo, Raina :)

I watched & enjoyed whole video but I mainly liked when y'all ate the spicy foods because I love when you eat spicy foods (challenges or just eating them). The reaction is always different in a good way. What you made at the end of the video though looked amazing, I would've tried that mainly because while I've never had Thai food, I do love shrimp.

I lived in Bangkok back in 79/80. I ate probably every last different region's food as I travelled all over Thailand while I lived there. I am originally from LA and I honestly never found true authentic Thai food again. Close, but no cigar. What I wish is that I had the money to move back to Thailand to live there permanently. The food is not only great but the people there are so friendly and gracious. Now I would choose to live on the coast there as it is so beautiful there, plus the seafood is incredible!

Back in the 80’s the Original Thai BBQ near Normandie on Beverly was the best: S-1, S-8, Pad Thai, and Meekrob. They expanded too fast after they tried to make it in Vegas and the consistency was affected. The Chino Hills location was still good into 2010 but I haven’t been there since or lately.

Raina your dish 28:00 looks delish. But the only thing to add to make it Thai style is garlic, lime leaves lemongrass or ginger for veg and brown raw sugar lemon juice and some nuc mam ( Vietnamese dipping sauce). All Asian meats or proteins should be blanched in hot soy seasoned or unseasoned water (not on stove boiling)for only 30sec to a minute to seal the outside. Get rid of all water by using cloth. Then when the protein is fried on the pan it's sealed and still juicy . Water or moisture is a killer for any protein when cooking on stove. Unless your cooking European style then after frying meat add veg and water low simmer and then you have ragu or gravy.

The flat noodles are called "river noodles" and are some of my favorite rice noodles out there. Dang, the spice at Jitlai did you in, didn't it?! That looked pretty deadly, and your spice threshold is still way better than mine, for sure. @Jubilant Jane is right, too; fish sauce and lemon grass, as well as garlic, are essential parts of Thai cooking.

Just letting it out there for you or anyone reading this. The curry at the first restaurant is meant to be eaten with the vermicelli. The plate with the vermicelli and veggies, you dunk that in the curry, the whole plate and you mix it and eat it as a noodle soup meal!

I love watching Raina cook!! I noticed most of the sauce combinations seemed to have sugar, lime or some citrus and fish sauce. The honey flavor from the spice you used would have possibly covered the sugar but I feel like nothing but fish sauce taste like fish sauce. Lol And I’m always down to add some lime to a dish! Either way great job! 🖤

I do wonder about how authentic this 1st place might be. I cannot go now because of covid but I normally spend quite of bit of time in Thailand. I have many Thai friends including chefs. 98 percent of Thai dishes are served with with a fork and a big spoon. Chop sticks happen but are rare and usually only happen with a soup that includes a soup spoon as well..
