What is the best time to cataract surgery is depends upon the Dr/hospital you visit. Recently I visited a renowned eye doctor/hospital for my regular eye checkups. After initial eye check up formalities by the hospital staff, I was there in front of the renowned eye specialist, after his examination , he advised me that I'm having cataract development and if I go for surgery immediately with cataract replacement lens he can promise a 90% vision but delay may cause complications including blindness and he himself advised a particular brand of IOL . I was so upset, later when I visited an eye doctor doing private practice for a second opinion, after his check ups, advised surgery may be required after 2 r 3 years that too depends upon your profession like regular night time driver. If you are regular day time worker continue with specks with yearly eye check ups, incase you have BP/diabetes visit once in six months. Cataract surgery is a breadwinner for many corporate eye hospitals, they try to find opportunities to earn via cataract surgery , IOLs and tests. Always go for second or third opinion
