Oh boy, now this was a trip down memory lane. The Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod was the first real overhaul mod I downloaded, ever. It completely changed how I saw Medieval 2 and Total War games as a whole, and just like that, my imagination and hopes for the future of Medieval 2, and the Total War series, were forever expanded. Being a Total War fan during the times of Medieval 2 was a true joy, and the Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod was a perfect introduction into the world of Total War modding for me.
It not only introduced a massive new map to the grand campaign, but implemented almost every feature from the various Kingdoms expansions, making this the ultimate vanilla-like total overhaul out there. I remember this mod. I conquered the whole map, except for the bloody Teutonic order. They hold up in a fortress with their doom stacks of infantry and refused to die.

I still use TWC every week, there's just such a wealth of knowledge there. It's not as busy as before in part because of Steam Workshop but if i need help TWC is the 1st place i look.

So , there s this mod and there s vanilla beyond. I have many hours in both of them . Pros of kgc: crusader states, wales, bigger britania, more settlements in europe. Pros of vanilla beyond: bigger america with apaches, caliphate of baghdad, emirate of damascus, cumans, bigger map going into india. The map texture changes with crop upgrades. Known towns from hisyory have a unique building which gives a huge buff. (Notre dame in paris, haghia sophia in constantinople, ) Cons of vanilla beyond: no crusader states, but every city in the holy land has specific buildings that enable you to train units like squires of edessa, canons of the holy sepulchre etc. Ps: i forgot, generals that have unique special abilities in crusades campaign (lionehart, phillip ii, manuel comnenos etc ) have them in kgc

Bulat steel mod is also hudge. It have a lot more, than any other mod and it more "polished" as well. Highly recommend

@@IceniTotalWar it was made by Russion-Ukranian team "Сiчь", but now you can't realy download just a mod from them. You should download it with the pirat version of a game. And this vesion is unstable

I want it so bad :( and I DONT know why it’s not implement in TW games that have online multiplayer. It’s like, just do that, but for offline on the same computer. Done.

Just downloaded.. Does anybody else's bar at the bottom of the screen during the battle (shows unit cards, toggle special abilities, time, etc) show up as completely white and unusable? How to fix? Thanks!

I'm kinda hoping that with the popularity of CK3 that we get Mediaeval 3 next. Empire 2 could be good. I hope that we hear something soon with the conclusion of the Warhammer trilogy. I guess they're waiting for their grand campaign still, what's it called? Mortal empires or something like that. Hotseat would be good for a co-op campaign. It feels like that kind of feature has gone by the wayside because of the rise of faster internet connections. It's just a shame because there's not really a solution for battles. What do you think? How could CA solve that problem?

Oh yes, definitely hoping for a Medieval 3 or Empire 2, it’s soooo high time for those. And for the hotseat battles, the only missing thing is the ability to defend in battle against a human opponent, every other battle type is possible. I think it’s fine, honestly, and I don’t know if there’s a fix to it :/

Well, mongols are already present on the map. I'm currently playing my Scotland campaign (pikes are now fixed oh yeah), but haven't survived long enough for the timurids to come yet

vanilla kingdoms is one of my favorite mods im only annoyed by how sensitive they made the population, they react very harsh to taxes above normal or low settings

I noticed in the files the population limit is 500,000 in huge cities. In vanilla it's about 70,000 or something, so i imagine with a high population, public order may be a problem ... probably designed that way. The max population can be changed in descr_settlement_mechanics

Pretty new to TW as a whole series, have played TW Rome 2 for a couple hundred hours and Shogun 2 for close to that. I used to watch Third Age content for years some years ago and loved it. Is Medieval 2 still very good now? I know the mods are fantastic just wondering if i should bite the bullet.

I would definitely. It's such a classic. Part is likely nostalgia speaking, but it has a charm and just feels so good to play that the later games don't. The only annoying this is that camera movement on the campaign map is a bit too quick as it's not optimized for modern hardware, but that's a very minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

I love how you’ve played the 2 worst total wars and you like this series. Medieval 2 and Rome 1 were series peak. You notice it a lot if you’ve started with these games, but it’s so disappointing how the series keeps getting worst. You know the greatest part about past games? The battle map matches the campaign map in 1:1 scaled down ratio. You can see your city in the distant. You can park yourself on a hill and defend. It adds a whole new dimension to strategy and immersion. Newer total wars just have predetermined battle maps and i will never forgive them for that. Literally makes me feel like I’m playing a game and ruins all immersion. There’s tons more. But trust me, you’re missing out if you haven’t played series peak :)

M2TW definitely feels like an older game, especially with the pathfinding and unit responsiveness which can feel lackluster/be frustrating at times. With that said, it more than makes up for that with the charm and surprising level of depth to both the campaign and battlemap gameplay, much of which is lost in the newer titles

Hey Andy, you represent a hardcore mod for the TW beginners, r u serious? Just a simple case, they besiege an empty settlement and boom: a full stack of prestige guys of that under sieged settlment appear and believe me 2 full stack is a lowest condition to occopy that settlement and you must do it manually, lol.

Ah sorry about that, I’m always trying to make the audio better, but since I have no audio experience it’s hard for me to tell other than “this sounds quite good”. I do know what you mean though. Do you have any tips? Which parts of the EQ should I raise or lower?

@@AndysTake Yeah, no worries man. Audio is tricky. I'd use an EQ to completely cut-off all frequencies below 100hz and then lower the volume on the frequencies between 100-200hz just a little.

Definitely not for a beginner. or is there a way to fix AI spam of units when its city is besieged? Ex. Cairo only has 3 units, so i go and make a siege, and magically they are filled with a full stack of units with all weapon, armor, experience upgrades.

I hate that. In the readme it says that this only happens when Capitals are besieged, but it seems to be at every city. Who the hell thaught, that that was fun? Is it really at every city?

@@MaFe1992 yeah, mostly major cities but i figured out not long after i made that comment to overwrite it. what you have to do is go to a campaign script and delete manually everything that says from "create_unit" along with units and their experience # and armors # right before "end_if". careful not to delete the sieging time. you have to do it for every cities (under the condition of siege) but it won't take long. make sure you save copy first. i've been playing for months with no crashes.
