This really makes sense. During my many years in the US military, they preached: Train as you fight, fight as you train. In this case: Practice as you race, race as you practice.. Great advice!!!!

I just got another hard iRacing reality check going from a new 7 month iRacer with a average 1300-1500 IR and as I got better with some more experience I started winning races and getting top 3s my IR level jumped to the 1800-2100 bracket and here is where I had to learn how to adapt my race craft because the pace of some of these top splits is almost unbelievable and the racing is usually very close I am talking a 26 car field all with in a second separated by a few tenths. So practice in lobby with other people helps you pick other drivers brains.

I totally agree. The AI is awesome, and great for training and fun. It's perfect for nights when drinking and probably shouldn't be racing other humans. :P Let's hope that iRacing puts the AI difficulty adjustment into the sim so we can adjust on the fly. Another tool not often talked about or used for training/practice is ghost racing. (ghost racing example: wait for race sessions to appear, find the highest split and click Watch)

I know plenty of people who use the Ghost Racing and find it to be super useful! I've personally almost never done it, but many people have vouched for it. Might need to give it a try sometime!

I enjoy spectating and practicing that way. The downside is it's a little hard to see the apex at times when your car is inside another car lol. I find it immensely helpful cuz I can see a lot better where their lines differ from mine compared to looking at telemetry data

After creating a multiclass roster for daytona, the cars were 10 seconds a lap slower than my GT3 PB (1;45). Mind you the ai skill is set to 104 - 125. Maybe im doing something wrong. I would love your input on AI laptimes compared to humans. The gt3's were braking way earlier tat humans, aswell as breaking into the kink before the last infield chicane.

That seems seriously strange... i have no idea what could possibly be causing that. 125% AI was confirmed by iRacing to actually be slightly bending the physics of the game to go faster than is possible otherwise, so there is no way they should be going 10 seconds a lap off the pace. Are you 100% sure the difficulty is set correctly? I've used AI for many months now and never came across this once

Honestly this is a great tip! I definitely don't use this tool as much as I should. I think the practice with traffic management will be the biggest benefit for lower skill drivers (ie me lol)

I hope you start seeing a big improvement in your multi-class racing MountainSnow! It's such a tricky concept to learn, how to best manage traffic, but this should help you out big-time! Best of luck in 2022! :)

AI you say.... might have to look into that. Would be great with a few more cars, like Lotus 79, Kamel GT, GT1 and dirt oval would be superb too. But still very enjoyable as is.

The problem a lot of people would have with running large fields of AI is framerate. Not everyone has a CPU that can handle that many cars at once.

Beau is talking about using this as practice for endurance races where you will also have that same amount of cars on track. So if your CPU can't handle an AI race like that, probably can't handle entering the endurance race either. Could use it to practice 10-15 car races that you get in some categories though so is likely a useful tool regardless of what you're looking to race. Just need more categories of car in there for mine!

But you can’t test with Ai on most tracks with Iracing. This is what I do when available. I really wish Iracing would do this with all tracks

They are, sadly just seems like it is a pretty slow process getting all the content sorted with AI. Hopefully we get a big bunch of new content we can use AI with in the next build!
