@@villagomezc I think its easier to do it by yourself. Hiring a mountain guide is pretty expensive and I really would only hiring one if you have never done a via ferrata trail before and are unfamiliar with the harness

Great video. Can you rent gear for a week at a time in the Dolomites or do you need to bring your own? Is there a charge $$ to do the via Ferratas or are they free? I'm slightly older but mentally still 20, do you still recommend? I'm in decent shape for this (I think). Loved the variety of the places you hiked in your video. Thank you very much

Are there any specific instructions for finding that waterfall on strobel? None of the pictures on all trails show the waterfall that I can find
@PhilippKlein
@PhilippKlein Год назад
Quick clarification: we did 2 activities on most days. On the day of Strobel, we climbed Strobel in the morning and later drove to “Parco delli Dolomiti”, hiked up there and did the waterfall ferrata (it’s a short one). So it’s not a waterfall on Strobel :)

Awesome video Philipp! My friend and I are planning a trip to the Dolomites in June and you've inspired us to do a via ferrata. I've never done a via ferrata before, but I have some climbing experience. Do you think we would be able to do the Monte Paterno via ferrata without a guide? Is the path to the summit very well marked? Or would you recommend getting a guide?
@PhilippKlein
@PhilippKlein Год назад
Thank you Jenny! I’d always recommend a guide (legal advice), but if you have outdoor climbing experience, you should be totally fine, the path is more or less marked and normally with plenty other climbers. Just dont forget your headlamp, the tunnels are dark!

Hello Filipp, Very nice video. We are also planning a trip to the Dolomites in Augustus. I have a little question: can you give me more information to find de cavez/tunnel that you have done day 2 after the via Sci club 18. I would like to find it.
@imfunby1

I have the same question...what was the one after Sci Club on Day 2?
@PhilippKlein
@PhilippKlein Год назад
Hello to both of you! After Sci Club we drove to Rif. Auronzo and hiked to the south face of Tofana di Rozes. Up there you follow a path along the wall towards the cave/tunnel. To look it up it’s “Grotta di Tofana di Rozes” which I think means “Tofana Cave”

Hi Rebecca, Thank you for your nice words! for one day, I’d recommend the Monte Paterno (the first one of the video). You will hike to 3 Cime (already a highlight) and then you will climb a mountain to get a better view! Pack a headlamp though, to get through the long tunnels :)

are via ferrata gear, helmet, ropes - required for alta via 2? I was planning to go with almost zero gear. But maybe. I need it? let me know minimum I need
@PhilippKlein
@PhilippKlein 2 месяца назад
Hi Eric, for any Via ferrata you DEFINITELY need helmet, harness and dissipators (specific to Ferrata). Any mountain shop will help you with this, you can also easily rent it in nearby towns like Cortina d’ampezzo
@Eric-sq4hd
@Eric-sq4hd 2 месяца назад
@@PhilippKlein really. i've heard people saying it is not needed for AV2? people say different things
@Pablo-eo1mw
@Pablo-eo1mw 2 месяца назад
You might be confusing AV1 and AV2? I’ve done AV1, and the basic route has just one very short and easy ferrata (Ra Gusela) where you don’t necessarily need ferrata gear. In contrast, AV2 has several medium difficulty ferratas (grades 2 and 3), which would be quite reckless without protective gear.
@kl-ke9ec
@kl-ke9ec Год назад
in addition to the lanyard ( I got Petzl Scorpio Vertigo Lanyard) what type of harness did you use, I'm looking at some ultralightweight types like "Petzl TOUR Harness - Lightweight Harness for Glacier Travel and Ski Touring" Would it be sufficient via Ferrata, or do I need a full climbing harness. I'm planning on using it for Alta Via 2 route, its a lot less extreme than yours.
@PhilippKlein
@PhilippKlein Год назад
Hi! Using a skitouring harness looks tempting (Inhave the Blue Ice Choucas Light) but the issue is actually that the Ferrata lanyard+ dissipators are really heavy, so you’ll definitely need a harness that has some structure else it will be uncomfortable. I use the Black Diamond Solution and love it, it’s fairly light and compact for a sport climbing harness (look for a modern construction liek this one). I’d recommend also the Blue Ice Cuesta, that’s crazy light and still structured/comfortable

Hi Philipp, Thank you very much for this lovely video! Great to see you enjoying 'la dolce vita d'italic'. I'm traveling to the dolomites myself, and would like to to do ferret Strobel Punta fliames. In terms of technically, could I bring a beginner with me? (this is the one from the waterfall, right?! Anyway big thanks !! Kind regards, Kilian
@PhilippKlein
@PhilippKlein Год назад
Hi Kilian, thank you! Beware, the ferrata Strobel Punta Fiames is an easy but long climb to Punta Fiames (a peak), and the waterfall is a different via ferrata (also easy). I think you can take a beginner with you if they’re fit and motivated.

Hello Philipp, Thank you for your previous answers. I still have one question: during day 3, you have done the via ferrata Michielli Strobel en then you show us at 12' in the movie a nice waterfall. I don't see anaything about waterfall during this via ferrata but i have found another one: Via ferrata di Fanes. Can you tel me if it's the same waterfall we talk or can you juste let me know where to fin yours who looks so nice! Thank you

I discovered the Dolomites and via farrata in 2020 and have been on 3 trips so far, hopefully many more. Your video is great and you've definitely included my favourites so far. The one I haven't done is Punta Anna/Tofana di Mezzo - next time! I hope also VF Cesco Tomaselli & VF Cesare Piazzetta, plus a few in the Civetta and Cattinacio groups. I would definitely recommend VF delle Trincee - a good introduction to the harder via ferrata, including great views and some historical and geological interest, also safe on a day when the weather isn't so good
