I think that Victorinox have missed a trick, an Alox Rambler would IMHO be an absolute stormer, i think it would outsell the Minichamp, possibly even the Alox Classic SD
Swiss Bianco had a few hundred of thrm made a long time ago. They are pretty much impossible to get. But I agree, they should make an Alox Rambler as a standard model, in various colors.
It would indeed, I'd buy one right away if it existed. Whereas I'm not sure about the alox Minichamp. I want it on my keychain where celidor scales would get badly scratched very quickly.
@@simonh6371 It exists :) but not easy to find :( Silver Alox would probably look OK on your keychain for a while. Colored Alox will get a worn look very quickly.
Bantam is my favourite. I have others but always come back to the Bantam as it has what I truly need in a day, everyday. I put some black Micarta scales on it and its perfect
I like and agree with all of your choices. Great knives/tools, all of them. Personally I would add or replace the Huntsman with the 91mm Ranger specifically because it is the Huntsman with the addition of the metal saw/file. Very handy on backcountry ski or snowshoe overnight trips or any winter activities.
I got the Compact for Christmas, and now that Christmas is over, I can get myself 1 finally. I have been looking at the Farmer X. I was hoping to get the Farmer X for Christmas but I have been wanting the Compact for a lite carry. Eventually I will probably get a Pioneer X, but now that I have the Compact, the Pioneer X is way back on my list. This is a great list. I keep a Victorinox Rambler on a locking carabiner on my belt lupe, with a Olight IR2 Pro, for a emergency set that I always forget about but are awesome to have and I needed them both so many times. I had a Victorinox Explorer for years, but I have always been a Leatherman carry type of person, but I am starting to get tired of having a pouch on my belt all the time, so I am going to try Victorinox, especially since I mostly use the tools and rarely use the pliers. When I need pliers, it's for plumbing and needle nose are to small.
Best of all time in your opinion, of course. I see some excellent models there but I'd add some 111mm and 130mm to my list of best of all time. Also, I didn't see the Deluxe Tinker, which has a handy pair of pliers.
Timely prompt gift wise Mr S. Who wouldn't be thrilled to see SAK in their stocking 🧦 to slice through the shiny paper packages 📦. I rotate 5 or 6 Victorinox, from alox bantam up to the huntsman. Quality video, thanks for sharing.
Great lineup of SAK’s SlipJoint Sawyer. I’m a SAK fanatic myself I can’t have enough of them, and, there my favorite fidget toy on top of them being a great pocket tool. Thanks for another great video 👍❤️
Great video @slipjointsawyer I've had my Huntsman SAK for a couple of months and I have already used most of the tools. I have added a pin and a paperclip (multiple uses).
Great video Slippy. Im very tempted with the Classic SD in alox (maybe the classic precious alox) and the bantam. Loving the thin profiled knives at the moment!
I carry a recruit every day…reminds me of my first knife I got when I was ten. I also have a discontinued 4 layer 111mm called “The fireman” I think…has a big main blade, seatbelt ripper blade, wood saw, cap lifter and can opener standard tools, scale toothpick and tweezers, back has a corkscrew/mini screwdriver, awl (no eye) and key ring. It was a gift from a couple decades ago. I’m always trying to find out stuff about it. Mine has a liner lock on the main blade, the handle has an “ergonomic” look to it, with black scales with a painted on victorianox shield that I’ve mostly rubbed off from use. I don’t carry it anymore cos it’s too big and I don’t like the main blade shape on the 111 mm. I’m told that it evolved into the neon yellow rescue tool. Anyhow love your channel…subscribed a couple weeks ago.
That Alox 2 looks intriguing. I was hoping it had the combo tool but was disappointed when you pulled out the pruning blade. I’d probably carry a 93mm Alox bantam.
I love that Swiss Army 2. They’re hard to find over here though. But I think it has to be my next Victorinox… either that or the Cadet. I do like that Pioneer X though, but I’m not sure I’m ready for 3 layers 😆 Baby steps! Haha Good stuff as always, Slippy! 👊🏻
Hi there, does all medium alox models come with the thicker heavy duty main blade? And what would be the best sharpener and most efficient way of keeping the blade sharp? Would the Vic dual sharpener fit the bill or is there others I should be looking at? Cheers and thanks for the videos. Best straight to the point videos 👍
I believe they do, all the 93mm ones have thicker blade stock, the 84mm ones are the same as the standard 91mm blades 🙏🏻 I just strop mine on a leather strop at the end of the day!
The Traveller also has a nail file on the hook, and I believe some of the related models, too. And there was at least one special edition of the Climber that had the file as well. (I would be happy if more models had a mail file instead of the small blade.)
I have the white Climber too and its one of my favorite knives and I own 320 of them. It the one in my bag and I also tricked it out with the pin and the mini screwdriver.
All great SAK'S for sure. I have the Midnite Mini Champ & the 7 Alox as they are great knives and their awesome in the hand and very pocket friendly. Also, like them for the extra tools that are unique & not on my EDC, SAK the Swiss Champ XLT. Whenever I am camping, I will add the RangerGrip 79 with its locking blade and big saw. Also, my Skipper SAK with the marlin spike for working on knots.
