Mike Plotnikoff is one of the most prolific engineers in the world, there is almost zero chance you haven't heard something he's worked on. Watch as he divulges his philosophies and secrets while recording Björn Gelotte of In Flames.
To see the entire process from start to finish check out How It's Done with Howard Benson.
NAIL THE MIX is an online mixing school created by Joey Sturgis, Joel Wanasek and Eyal Levi - the guys who produced bands like TDWP, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall, Machine Head, Monuments, Miss May I, Of Mice & Men, Reflections, Born Of Osiris, Asking Alexandria and dozens more of this generation's best metal bands.
Every month, NAIL THE MIX members get exclusive access to the REAL MULTI-TRACK SESSIONS from a REAL ALBUM, and a 6-8 hour live streaming class from the producer who mixed it. These are the actual sessions by bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, Periphery, Opeth, Fall Out Boy, Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember and more - and NTM is the only place in the world you'll get access to them!

@allmetaliswelcome
Why slap such a dumb clickbait title to a video showcasing one of the finest engineers out there? If i didn't see it was Mike Plotnikov i would've never watched it otherwise
@BukanIbuMu
In Flames we trust
@Harrysound
I think we should stop over editing tracks. I think either play it tighter or relax your expectations and go with the flow and embrace the slightly sloppy playing….
@ArtGuitarLTX
🫤... genius? .... 😅 ehh. Boring
@The_Maddest_of_Hatters13
Anyone who works with In flames is someone i trust when it comes to guitar.
@XChristianNoirX
The most impressive thing to me isn't the recording itself, but the player who has all the riffs, variations, and arrangements all mapped in his head, ready to go.
@svenjeschke5025
Laughing my ass off that the album was actually recorded with an Epiphone. :-) Sounds awesome!
@billyhughes9776
True pros. Mike's setup is amazing. Just old skool 57 and a 421 on that cab -- was surprised he mics center of the cone. Love that tone.
@woodward_alan
Having In Flames participate in URM was one of the best decisions!
@gregfender
I think it's neat that he's playing an Epiphone.
@snapascrew
Mike is one of the GOATs for real.
@ebenezerspludge8369
Oh wow, That record is a masterpiece. You have my complete attention.
@iliatilev
The video is gold. It's so good to see the process and how fast they work.
@RiffGrimez
Had the pleasure of working with Mike on a few records. Dude is a genius with a heart of gold! Truly remarkable human being.
@devendasmusic
I love the work on this album
@GeneoVanEngers
Mike Is the best awesome to see his process.
@IgorBazelan
When it comes to guitar, the absolutely best thing you can get as a producer is a player who can play super-tightly in time. Listen to Björn's doubles in mono - they almost sound like a single performance, it's insane.
@Tylerbag
Love what was said @
@robertlugo9645
Mike is great to work with, the tones he can get!
@CrushingAxes
Man that's some awesome tone! Really cool!
