Following using rice berry face serum by litttleextrra for three weeks, here's what I experienced: Benefits: It effectively softens and evens out the skin, giving it a gentle glow. I've also seen a reduction in my genetic dark circles (avoiding the eye area is recommended). It has also helped diminish dark spots on my sister's skin. Cons: Personally, mine is dry and dull skin, and using the serum every day exacerbated my dryness. I advise using it thrice a week along with a good moisturizer to prevent dryness. I haven't seen any noticeable improvement in tan or skin tone issues in first 3 weeks. Update after 2 months: After almost two months of consistent use, I regard it my holy grail face serum. It has started showing positive results. My skin glows, dark circles reduced, and dark spots reduced a lot. So patience is key when using this face serum.

This riceberry face serum contains the real goodness of Vitamin C. It quickly gets absorbed by the skin and is completely non-greasy. My skin feels refreshed after applying this serum. I use it twice daily for that extra freshness and glow.

I am so glad to hear you say this! I'm 65 and have always taken care of my skin, but the vast number of products is daunting. I tried a highly recommended and expensive Vit C Serum about 10 years ago, used it for about a week, and it irritated my skin so much I discontinued it. Even so, I still have wondered if I needed a Vit C cream of some type. I'm glad to hear it is not necessary. I do take Vit C supplements orally for my overall immune system and feel that it does give my body a boost especially in the cold and flu season. Thank for your no-nonsense videos. I always learn something from you! Just one more thing: I had a pedicure a few days ago and the nail technician rubbed slices of fresh oranges on my toes and cuticles. I had never had that treatment before, but it felt great. LOL I'm not sure exactly what it was supposed to do, but I did feel pampered.

I tried so many Vitamin C serums and found that none of them were doing anything, so I was going to give them up. But then I tried The Ordinary's 8% Vit C with 2% Alpha Arbutin. I use it all over my face plus extra on old acne spots I want to fade and after a month, it's really started to fade those spots. I admit it may just be the Alpha Arbutin that's helping. I've also been using it with The Ordinary's Revesvertol/Ferulic Acid combo, so perhaps that's upping it's effectiveness. The only thing I dislike about The Ordinary's 8% Vit C with 2% AA is the oil based formulation which means it must be applied after any water based serums. (If anyone's curious, the Vit C Serums I've tried, but decided didn't work include ROC, IUNIK, Dear Klairs & Naturium.)

But even using daily, I can never seem to get through it before it oxidizes, even being diligent not to touch the dispenser to anything. Though I am not a fan of excessive packaging, I feel these Vitamin C products almost demand being packaged in smaller aliquots for you to get your money's worth and better preserve the product before it oxidizes.

Same. It’s impractical to run to the fridge (downstairs) every morning. I extend the life of the product by cleaning the bottle after it’s finished and save it. When I open a new one: I use the new dropper to put 1/2 the contents into the clean old bottle, tightly screw on the new bottle’s cap to it and refrigerate. Top the fresh bottle with the dropper and use daily till empty. Then grab the second 1/2 from the fridge. Extended the life (and $ spent) of a bottle to the last drop for me! Also, I don’t keep all my “potions and lotions“ in the bathroom as it’s tiny and shared by multiple people. Gets to hot too many times a day! Might be overkill? But my bedroom is 2 steps away so it’s easy.

Hi Dr Dray the youtube skincare section would have us believe we all NEED vitamin c serums and having tried various versions none of them suit my skin. My rosacea and eczema prone skin HATES THEM - even the derivatives cause irritation. There are so many other antioxidants and my skin tolerates many of them really well, so I long long ago gave up on vitamin c for myself. I don't need vitamin c and am happy with the ingredients I can incorporate, that make my skin feel soft/comfortable. Irritation in of itself causes aging, so why would I persevere trying any more to make it work for me? I don't and don't feel I'm missing out. I use a retinoid, azelaic acid and alpha arbutin for pigment and collagen, with a host of antioxidants to preserve my skin in as much as topicals can (plus spf of course lol). Best wishes.

Have you looked into Protocol’s vitamin c serum? Their big claim to fame is that they vacuum seal the product and even package it in a dark room. The packaging is designed so that no air gets to the serum even if you open it; the squirt bottle still keeps the vacuum packaging intact and no light gets to the product as well. I just started using it after using the Dear Klairs Vitamin Drop for years and finding it would sometimes oxidize before I used all of it.

I think if the ascorbic acid has ferulic and vit E, is at the correct PH and doesn't look yellow/ oxidized then there is no reason for it not to work the same as skinceuticals, no one is doing their own industry studies coz skinceuticals already did the work XD

As far as vitamin c, you’re at the mercy of manufacturers for its stability and efficacy. In most cases it already turned deep yellow when you open it. Why not stick to ingredients that are proven to be more stable and yield similar results, not to mention cheaper. Think niacinamide, Azelaic acid

One thing I've noticed about Skinceuticals and their dupes (Timeless, Maelove, Dr Brenner) is they have a large amount of ethoxydiglycol in them, aka Transcutol. This allows the alcohol soluble ferulic acid to be dissolved, but also it's a powerful skin penetration agent and I'm not sure you'd get nearly the same vitamin C penetration without it. Also, whatever I put on afterwards seems to get very good penetration rather than sit on top of the skin, especially if it is alcohol soluble like Tazarotene.
