I use a hem to install my fascia too. But who the heck put those shingles on with no drip edge??

That's no for me. Never seen anyone nail facia boards from the bottom and no kind of seal to shingles. At least do a pressure bend to the shingle.

Siders' edge is inferior to drip edge for a vast number of reasons.
