Everytime I feel anxious before starting my animations, I open your channel and watch a few videos, even if they are unrelated to what I'll be drawing they still give me lots of motivation and calm my nerves.. Neverrrr stop making videos 😭😭😭😭
This came out at such a perfect timing because I’m currently working on a late submission for a flip-book project and I chose to animate a lil blob of slime for it. Thank you for the great tips!!
Absolutely love your lessons ! I had a question regarding drawing tablets. Would you have a recommendation for one that's not too expensive and suitable for a beginner ? Thank you and keep up the great work !
@@AlexGriggAnimation thank u so much for answering u see I consider myself a competent animator but all my works have just been rough so I just wanna make them cleaner but when I try to draw in the lines of my animation the lines start to look very disfigured I'm sorry if this problem Is one which u haven't seen before but I'm just wondering whether I should draw outside of the pixels In the lines cause my program isn't a vector program like flash/animate
@@AjayiDaniel-xu9tj clean up is a special skill for sure. Lots of productions have specific artists that just focus on clean up. But that's a luxury most of us don't have :) a few things to think about, usually new animators miss a step called "tie down". This is where you take the super rough animation and fill in the details and refine the drawing. Then they do a clean up pass afterwards just focusing on line quality. For this people often do key poses clean and make sure they're perfect, then use them as a guide for their in betweens. Typically I find clean up takes 1-2 times longer than the actual animation. That's why I design a lot of my RU-vid stuff to look quite rough.
@@AlexGriggAnimation ok thank u for the feedback I will focus more on keeping my drawings clean enough So It doesn't require alot of clean up this was very helpful I never heard of the tie-down concept in animation before, again thank u
Just want to thank you for all of these in depth lessons, every video is so well made it feels illegal to watch for free, I've just recently been testing out 2D animation and you've been the biggest help. Thanks mate!
Thanks for being candid about not using the dots. The dots are the bones of the slime. While drawing characters, we don't depict the bones but consider them as structures beneath.
I actually thought about spilling water all over my kitchen and recording it but didnt wanna get introuble by my mom lol 😂😂 🤣♊️‼️☝️☝️🤦🏻♀️ shed be like wtf you doin 😅 😈☠️☠️😹
That's pretty cool, very interesting. I was doing "slime animation" on my own when I was younger for some cool effects but I never knew how it was called haha.
I liked/thumbs up the video early on and I wanted to like it a second time, when you mention "the dots are so important, but the teacher isn't using them". Really appreciate the real world approach plus explanation of why you don't use them (as often) when animating for real♥
Thank you for continuing to post videos despite being busy. Honestly, I thought the last we'd see of you is your fantastic beginner series but your continual output should bring about a vibrant community of animators! I was sceptical at first, but after watching this, I'm excited to try it out!
You make everything so simple & clear , does anyone similar channel like this which have full course from basic to advanced And do suggest me which program is best for animation,:)
Please please I need your help on a decision making (So I want to learn animation..3d/2d) as a beginner/novice , would you advice I go for an iPad or laptop that works with making animations.. Which would you advice I go for (Learning for the purpose of creating short stories/content creation)
Haven't started, yet, exhausted. Bunch of tutorials that loses my creativity, especially with digital works. I just don't know what should I get particular about with animating. I just want to draw, but, here comes the modern techniques everywhere.Great artists I watch and listened to,but, still,I can't get it all through my head. Maybe, because, I don't want to. Anyway, nice I came across your channel at 7:47 a.m.Been drawing since 6 years old, but, haven't progressed, at all😂.I still draw, why not. This is a passion I wouldn't forget to spend time on.
Really Really appreciate for making this video my bad I'm late i was busy so i couldn't be i watched the full video and can u make more about 2dfx it's a request about all 😊
I like some of the work that comes out of Pro Create BUT my issue is that it seems like a kids version of the adult program, or like a designer using Canva, I always feel embarraced for someone that works in both of these
I REAAAAALY appreciate your knowledge plus you share what yu got. Thanks for that. Quick question- I purchased a wacom and thinking what tools to include on my workflow. I have All adobe products, Clip studio paint, Krita, blender etc. Goal is to learn animation. Can you help a lil bit here?
THIS IS SUCH AN AWESOME TUTORIAL!! i saved this video into 'watch later' like 2 weeks ago, what I was not expecting tho was how absolutely PACKED with so many useful tips it would be! It's like being a beginner artist and watching the first drawing tutorials and it's like your mind opens to so many new things, thats what I felt while watching this video! it completely blew me away and things were explained in a fun way too. you are awesome. Thank you so muchh for making this tutorial, can't wait to apply these methods!
Thanks so much for the amazing tutorials. I recently stumbled upon this channel, and it helped a lot, I have a lot of questions though, but there's one I really need to know urgently. So I'm 15 turning 16. I really want to be a great animator, both 2D and 3D(if I can do that?🤔). I'm gonna graduate pretty soon to go into uni, so I wanted to know ------>If any animation experience is needed before going to animation school, and how much experience is needed? And also if u have any advice for a young aspiring animator like me, feel free to share😇. Thank u so much, sir. (Please reply🥺🙏)
Hiya! So cool to hear. Yep you can do 2d and 3d at the same time. I started in 3d and switched to mostly 2d a couple of years after uni. As far as experience before university, it will really depend on the school. A lot of the top top animation schools require a portfolio to enter and in some cases it's quite competitive. my school had a portfolio aspect but my limited highschool drawing skills were enough to get me in.
Thank you for putting this together and sharing! I've been doing the magic dot for months and it really helped me understand spacing more but I wanted more of a challenge , this is exactly what I needed hah.
I absolutely love this! Thank you so much! As a motion graphics designer who *barely* gets to do frame animation (and has Dreams on my iPad that I've been just dying to use), quick exercises like this are perfect. For some reason, I have in my head that if I'm not making Ferngully every time I sit down then I might as well not sit.
"From a professional stand point this is still a little bit rough but for this exercise it I think its totally fine." I'm not a professional (not even hobbyist, but someone interested in one day doing some) and I'd love to learn what it could be even better. I mean, beyond the point you made about the energy/force moving the slime.
Good question :) cleanup generally has to look very consistent unless the design calls for wobbles. So my line tapers and small messy artifacts would need to be cleaned up. Also I might consider doing it on ones (at 24fps). I debated talking about frame rate in the video but I thought it might distract.
Hi! Mr.Alex (if that's ok to call you that if you don't mind) But really i like your videos so much especially your slime video By the way the dot in the slime was actually so cool although even you saw it rough i honestly saw it amazing and beautiful 😊 It's not a compliment at all it is the truth you did very well because of course from your past experience and working in animation When i knew about your channel for the first time,i knew it from a video you made which is the important three things you must know when you start to learn animation for the first time or even a small beginner, Which honestly i benefitted alot from this video I honestly hoping for more of your videos because i TRULY want to learn animation because I love it and wanting to be an animator I plus did small little animated ones when i was a kid but unfortunately I didn't improve it 😕 Because I didn't have the power to improve (which i was lazy)or even time through my educational studies Which I really don't know if i will be able to animate smoothly and beautifully as like any professional animator would do But hoping if you would make more video courses about how to animate on RU-vid, i will be willing to learn from those and able to animate! Plus it is a pleasure and happy and hope you have a good and fun day! 😊
@@jackiechan8718 honestly there are plenty but not like his and I truly would like to help but I don't know how to say the names and I plus don't know much and his channel honestly like to watch because it's simple but not complex as the rest of any animation learning channels
Bought your course as soon as saw this video!! Cleared so many questions I had for procreate dreams in my mind, I wish to see much advance animation courses from you in future too if it's possible. Especially about complete animation production workflow in procreate..
How much ram does your iPad Pro have? I am considering the 8gb version to save some money, but I’m worried that it won’t be enough memory to do animations.
Awesome, this is great to know, thank you! And thanks for the great videos! I asked this question on another one of your videos, you can disregard that, haha
Wow, this was such an excellent tutorial. So well explained and so approachable. I've been wanting to develop my animation skills but felt so intimidated by all the tools and techniques to learn. Breaking down such complex motion like this in the bite size way you do has been so inspiring. I'm purchasing another iPad soon and looking forward to trying your full course. Thanks so much for sharing.
12:11 Im glad you pointed this out especially i often see these in tutorials without further explanation. Now, its all clear and makes sense. Thank you!
This is very interesting, thank you a lot ! I'm gonna have to try doing that. It's cool because after being started there's always the option to add your own twist to the slime. It's the first time I see this channel, now I have to check all the other videos. Thanks, I wish everyone an awesome day !
Just want to thank you for all of these in depth lessons, every video is so well made it feels illegal to watch for free, I've just recently been testing out 2D animation and you've been the biggest help. THANK U SIR
I appreciate the moment you took to bring back in the real life observations! Reminds me of one of my favorite animator quotes, from Art Babbitt: "An animator is a student of everything that might or does exist." ~
