great video. just scooped up a 96 LT1 classic Corvette, this is the first Corvette hatch I've had to do. never thought of using a torch, I usually just shrink with a heat gun. i'll grab my torch and give it a shot.
the torch seems like a very aggressive method of shrinking; is that why you use your hand to separate the fingers as you go, to monitor how hot the film is getting? Is this the same Corvette that Matt done last year on his channel?
@@SunDistributing On a 2003 corvette base coupe, rear window on top of glass those round cycles, I understand that you can take a piece of black vinyl and cover them up after cutting the tint around the defroster lines? Is this something that can be done or don't waste my time
@@johnstuckey2723 you certainly can. I would recommend using a product called dotrix. It is a really thin black vinyl but with really aggressive adhesive. It works really well.
I went through a fascination phase with the torch for a while. The torch is much faster on some vehicles. I mostly use a heat gun now but am glad to have the option of a torch in certain cases.
Most of the time the dirt specs don't come from lack of cleaning, they come while struggling with getting the film into place. You might notice that the contaminated areas are in the same areas that you was struggling.
@@mchs-ml1yc correct. The easiest way is to video yourself installing and watch for your struggles. This will take much practice and frustration. In the end it will all be worth it.
