Well, I have to say both of you were absolutely brilliant and for me being the star of this horrible movie it is always a pleasure for me to hear peoples reactions to watching the movie and I must say this is the first time I have ever seen anyone as a “virgin” give their real time honest opinions of what they’re watching which are 100% spot on. I can only hope being as inquisitive as you both are that as you will see once you delve into the many hours of people who have reviewed and interviewed myself and other cast members you will have all of your questions answered as to why it was so unintentionally horrible. You guys have to do a Neil Breen movie. His filmography is a trip to say the least. Fateful Findings is his most notable one. Also regarding the hair: The lead actor thought shooting had finished, but the director informed him that there was more shooting. The director got a lady's wig for him to wear for the rest of the shooting. Red Letter Media did an interview with the lead actor on their RU-vid channel which sheds light on the whole production process. It's an interesting watch.

For a $7,000 budget It made $387,000 world wide. Now it’s a B-Movie classic.

The bad guy is played by B Movie legend Robert Z'Dar, who suffered from Cherubism. It's a genetic disorder that causes excessive bone growth in the lower face.

Years ago I interviewed Matt, the actor that played Samurai Cop, and got him to tell my friend's mother to "keep it warm". Best line EVER.

The camp waiter was played by Joselito Rescober, a medical doctor who was one of the main investors for the movie. He had worked with the director multiple times, so he knew very well what he was getting into.

The RiffTrax version is pretty awesome.

Of Note; they only had a couple of guns. You only see 2 or 3 armed henchmen in any particular scene. They then had to hand off the guns to the next group of henchmen. Wash and repeat. 🤣🤣🤣

Avoid the sequel like the plague. It’s totally aware of the joke and is just plain bad. Watch Miami Connection instead!

Holy crap is this a new shitty B movie reaction arc for you guys? YES! I highly recommend "Miami Connection" its another classic. "Geteven" also called "Champagne and Bullets" is one of the best vanity projects ever.

The weird saturation: The normal practice was to let the take continue for a tiny bit longer before you yelled cut. This was to compensate for the analog camera reel slowing down when the motor was shut off. The last few extra seconds from the longer take would have yielded a drastically different color temp, and would have been sacrificed. Amir Shervan threw out the normal practice because the budget was so tight, cutting exactly when the scene was supposed to end and badly exposing the last few seconds of footage before the cut. The size of the crew shrank with the budget as production dragged on, to the point that Shervan was doing most of the ADR voices himself. The film could not be color graded properly for the same reason.

Thank you, Clarus, for bringing this about. This reaction is almost exactly how my friends and I reacted to watching this film. I still remember that ridiculous stethoscope 'flirting' scene.

You're right. After the shooting was done, actor Matt Hannon cut his hairs and was told by the director that they were in fact some more scenes to shoot, hence this obvious and ridiculous wig 🤣🤣🤣

Neil Breen movies are a big one, and Andy Sidaris has a wohle universe and over a dozen movies too.Fight of Fury (by Shunny Bee) is a nice stand alone. Also, Zardoz! (With Sean Connery! btw)

After watching this, you should watch Bowfinger. It's basically a comedy about making a movie like this with Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy, directed by Frank Oz (Fozzy Bear)

Yes, there was almost a year long pause in filming but none of the cast was told. They assumed it was wrapped. Then the phone call came to go finish the film. The lead actor had indeed cut his hair thinking the film was done. They literally dashed to the nearest beauty shop and bought the cheapest wig there 🤣🤣🤣

About Robert Z'Dar's cheeks, he suffered from a genetic disorder called Cherubism. It got more pronounced throughout his life. He's in a lot of B-Movies. Oh and that great line about being an undercover cop was improvised. I think the actor had trouble getting over the fence.

Half way into this reaction and I'm like "I don't remember any of this from when I saw Samurai Cop as a kid." So i looked it up. Turns out I never saw this movie. The terrible cop movie I saw was called Sgt Kabukiman and I've just thought it was called Samurai Cop for the last twenty something years.

A possibly worse movie than this, Miami Connection! It is also a martial arts movie Birdemic is in a class all by itself.

This is so bad it was shot completely during the day there was no money for night shots all the woman are horny for Samurai Cop as he is for them but it's the angry Captain that makes it for me. 😂

I’m commenting as I am watching your reaction. First off, this is suppose to be something like the Lethal Weapon movies back when Mel Gibson had longer hair. Second, the lead actor actually had long hair. Six months after the production, the director wanted to add more scenes. But the actor had cut his hair, so the director had him wear a wig.

I saw the poster for that movie in our local video store and thought "That must be a cool movie." but never watched it. I'm glad you guys did that for me 33 Years later and spared me the suffering... 😉

Oh there is a movie that's totally ADR called New York Ninja. It's worth a look. Also, like Samurai Cop and Miami Connection, it had an absurdly great poster.

You laugh at the gas chamber line but it was still used in the US at that point. The last time they were used was march 1999.
