They should release ONE more Primaris lieutenant. That one should be a multipose KIT with the versatility of the space marine commander kit and more. It should have a minimum of two torso choices, three helmeted heads, two bear heads, at least 3 different weapons for each arm, and a range of extra options such as iron halos and purity seals to be added if you so wish. This is how they should do all their heroes, not the monopose overpriced junk the feed us. That way you can go as grimdark or grimderp as you want, that way you can customise and kit bash them with ease, that way you have a unique character, that way GW makes a highly resellable kit.
I totally agree, but then people may magnetise it or use 3rd party parts and that means lost sales in the brains of GW. Can't have that now, can we....

If anything it would increase sales, especially since their current set of upgrade parts are very limited, cost you about a kidney each, and probably out of production..... I recently bought into bolt action. I wanted to make a small Aussie army and a German one. I dropped what I thought from playing 40k was enough money for a reasonable size army. What I received was enough models to make 6 armies!
There's no flaw in the software, curves can be created with no problem at all. Rather, it's a conscious design choice on GW's part. Their preferred Eavy Metal paint method benefits from having all those sharp points to assist with extreme highlighting come paint time, as does any method that involves edge highlighting.
I was really looking forward to Titanicus. Then I saw the price, then saw the price in Canuck Bucks and said hell no. If it was cheaper, maybe my group could play it.
If I lived in Aus I don’t think I’d play any GW games the prices are fucking insane. Having said that here in the U.K. you can get Warlord, Reaver 2 Warhounds plus rules for about £110 if you hunt about so to me it’s quite affordable and it’s a great game, far superior to Kill team, 8th edition and Age of smeg. Blood Bowl is still my favourite game though.
So I've been fan of Warhammer for years but never had the money to get into the game. Was looking at finally taking the plunge this past week or two. In looking into model prices and what not, I stumbled on your channel. Decided not to make the purchase, best move I ever made. Update: To be clear, I can more than afford to buy in to the game now. I’m just not going to support a company that price gouges its fans as Games Workshop does. I understand that many people still get enjoyment from the franchise, and that’s great for you. But I can get better entertainment value for my dollar almost anywhere else. So I’m choosing to do so.
(This probably won't help but) If you love the Warhammer worlds but cannot afford the models perhaps you might want to look into the roleplay versions. You don't need to buy a lot of models but you will need to find people willing to play with you. To play in Fantasy, "Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay" (there are 3 versions). For 40K, you can play as part of the Inquisition ("Dark Heresy" (there are 2 versions)), as a rogue trader ("Rogue Trader"), as a Space Marine ("Deathwatch"), as a Chaos follower ("Black Crusade") or as part of the Imperial Guard ("Only War"). Of course, you could just stick with the novels.
Dude, all this guy has ever done is shit on GW and the hobby. Even though it has its problems, 8th edition is still the best edition in a long time, and the game is now more accessible to new players than ever before. Don’t let maca’s constant negativity dissuade you from giving warhammer a try.
I would recommend Kill Team. You only need one squad to play, In some cases you can play with one model. Its a cheap alternative to the full game and is really quite fun
Caton Peters Pointing out their shittier business practices and critiquing their game design choices, while praising them on their successes is a little more nuanced than simply shitting on the hobby. The fans and consumers are just as much a part of the hobby as the company itself, so speaking up for these parties is actually doing the hobby a service. If you want the rose coloured ‘everything that GW does is great’ official/fanboy/white knight view, there are plenty of channels dedicated to reinforcing the company’s PR echo chamber, one of which is funded by the company itself. GW made some choices in 2018 that demonstrated total contempt for their customer base (raising FW prices by up to 50% for some markets, and refusing to even acknowledge, let alone respond to, a petition with 6k+ signatures being one of them), and there is no reason why the company should not be held accountable, the same way you would hold accountable any other company.
I find that the paintjob can really be the determining factor in making a model look amazing or crappy no matter the style or age of the miniature. In the right hands im sure cartoonish models can be made more serious and old disproportioned models given new life with the proper look. It just takes time and motivation.

Oh, and @23:37 about the sharp edges being because of computer graphics: Yes, but not for the reason you mention They're doing sharp edges as they can refine to sharper edges more easily on computers, but they're likely sculpting with something like mudbox or ZBrush which is akin to sculpting with clay but digitally, meaning softer, rounded shapes can be much easier to make than certain sharper ones in fact. That and their injection mould tech has clearly gotten better over the past couple of decades (more sharp edges!)
I average an upload every 2 days. Not consistently, sometimes it's faster or slower, that's just the average. For many Warhammer RU-vidrs, this is their full-time thing, for me, it's an extension of my hobby, and a very small part of my life. As for subs, I have had consistent growth for a long time, and this is the peak, highest we've had. Now, we don't gain a lot of subs because of the 'constant salt'. I feel that I'm pretty down the line and honest, especially where I show things factually like GW pricing, unfortunately, people don't take well to it and buy into the whole "GW is your friend" narrative, feeling that I'm being unfair on the Billion Dollar company for nickle and diming the community with 30 yr old kits sold at prices equivalent to brand new releases. Unfortunately, that will always be a problem, but it doesn't worry me. I don't depend on this, I just want people to think critically. That's why I say "if you like it, that's fine" constantly, because people can like what they want, but I don't want people trying to justify shady shit, especially on GW's behalf.

Thing about the Custodes is that its not really supposed to be a faction in and of itself. They are the Emperors personnel bodyguard exemplars of humanity. In the fiction when the Custodes go to battle its alongside lances of Imperial Knights, with Sisters of Silence etc. All they need is to share a second keyword with these units and your problems go away.
GW seems to be going out of their way not to allow 40k Mechanicus to have tranports. Almost like they want that to be part of their identity that they have cyberlegs and thus don’t get tired or something. Then FW lets them use the Termite Drill and I wonder if that just Mean’s GW’s being lazy about releasing the transport or if this is another of those “FW and GW are the Left and Right hands knowing not what the other is doing”.
On the whole, this has been the best year yet in recent history. I realise that there has been quite a few issues, but on the whole it hasn't been that bad. I mean, compare this to the dark ages of 2009 and 2010.
At around 14 mins, when you talk about the new knights, in all fairness they are a bit ridiculous but then I wouldn't call them "grimderp", they're just a knight variant that has more guns. Knights and titans are kind of the incarnation of 40k's over-the-top side, so if they can't be excessive... then damn, wrong game, mate. As for calling them out on how they, like the Riptide, are somehow only justified as rare with "they're expensive as hell" well... I mean, have you seen the 40k universe? They send 99.9% of their troops to fight daemons and aliens armed with... lasguns and flak armor. Cost is a factor, it always is. Riptides are expensive and won't always do the job as well as a bunch of smaller Crisis suits would, and the same goes for knights. In the real world, if you're raiding some dude's home, do you send in a small tactical unit or do you drop a nuke on the house? Different weapons for different battlefields, and cost justifies why you don't just build as many as you can and hope for the best.
I think part of why Pelennor Fields is liked is simply because you are kinda wrong. It has about 1.5 or more times the miniatures of Dark Imperium, with two of them being dreadnought sized (in case of Troll) or even bigger (Witch-king) while sold at the same price (well, actually it's even cheaper, but it's difference of around 5 pounds so really small). In general LotR minitures a lot of times seem cheaper than 40k and AoS ones.
I looked at the "best mini of 2018" vote thing on the GW site today and realised that from a whole year of stuff I had only bought two Armigers (both from Ebay though!) and a FW Termite. I have bought HEAPS of stuff this year but although I play AdMech, Mechanicum, Orks, Guard and a big lot of Scions plus a few SoB and some Inquisition and now starting a Blackshields force I get it all from Ebay quite easily, often at a cheaper price. Suits me very well thanks!

As an LOTR player, there's definitely value in the starter set. It's a £90 box (I'm a Scot, I'm working off the UK price), containing a hardback rulebook which is £35 on its own, the new Theoden sculpts (which are admittedly dog shit, but people still fellate them incessantly) and that's later been released at £20, a Fell Beast that everyone wants for £37.50, so the Troll, all the infantry, dice, etc are completely free. I agree they've got a damned cheek to repackage 15 year old kits into a starter set, and I'd certainly like updated kits, but it's not like it's actually poor value, unlike things like the Marines Start Collecting box, which gives you a Tactical Squad and a Dreadnought that aren't worth spit on the tabletop and a shitty-looking Terminator Captain.
It's not full price compared to the individual kits, HOWEVER when you take into account the age of the kits, the cost to actually produce them, the prices that independent retailers can sell at etc. there's a 40-60% wiggle area there still. That's why it's frustrating because GW is making a LOT of bonus money out of it and people think they're getting great value. Of course, if people are fine with it, who am I to say they're wrong, value is in the eye of the purchaser.....
@@TheOuterCircle I printed my own Blackshields ones using A4 decal sheets from Amazon, woo-hoo! Got a good scan of the FW ones, cleaned it up and away you go. I now print only the ones I want and if I so desire I can print Krieg-amounts of them too rather than five or ten of each type, excellent!
I completely agree on your point with the Lord of the Rings miniatures. They never update and got rid of some of the most interesting factions like Arnor which had some really fascinating units and were really unique because they werent in the movies. So what do they do? They squat it. Lord of the Rings is one of my most beloved fantasy universes and GW essentially shits on it.
You’re right that there has been an upsurge in sculpted on energy. Its a matter of personal taste, but I’m not necessarily against sculpted on energy, as long as it’s done well and not terribly, like in the case of a lot of the new Nurgle kits. Past examples of decent sculpted on energy for me would be the fumes coming off the giant plague censor on the skaven plague furnace. It’s sculpted in a way that gives the impression that the censor bearer is swinging, and, therefore, adds to the model, rather than detracting from it. On the other hand, adding piles of physics-defying slime, and plague smoke filled with Metroid enemies takes models into cluster f*** territory.
Financially there is actually a very good reason to just pull the old Calgar instead of fire selling it. One is to avoid cannibalism so people will buy the new $55 model instead of discounting the $20 further one to move inventory. Often times a company can make more money by just thrashing old inventory rather then trying to sell it.
In theory, but if you want to run the new Calgar, or even the old, there's no point picking up the other version, you need the one which suits you, like Primarchs, they have 30k and 40k versions, but they don't exactly cross between the two well at all.
Another great vid, 20 year kits and that they wont drop it in price a bit is pretty disappointing, the kit has paid for itself many times over. However I'm going to disagree with you on the design software hardedge issue, all of the major model manufacturers (Tamiya, Dragon etc) use 3d design for their kits, and they dont have figures looking like the GW ones. Some other companies 3d print then cast their designs. My guess is that its just a design aesthetic GW likes.
for the same cost as the warlord in titanicus i can set up an imperial guard platoon led by a commissar at gw aus pricing for 3 dollars more: 1x plastic commissar 1x cadian shock troopers box 8x 5 model cadian boxes and sisters of silence have freaking nothing and gw can't even be bothered just giving them rules in white dwarf for a generic commander

Doesn't matter if it's from 2002 if it's a good kit with a fair price. (not saying they are ... I don't play LOTR but if people like that kit and buy it then don't change it) If I wanted a regiment of knights in that scale they'd be pretty high on my list.
Those lord of the rings miniatures from pelennor fields are at a massive discount from the store price and comes with the actual full hard back rulebook. Where GW shits the bed is how when the new edition launched they removed half the range of lord of the rings from the store (Arnor was all gone save for the rangers for example) and then when they released the old models again they took out of stock they have so few they constantly and sell out almost as fast as they come back in.
Discount? Not compared to their age, only compared to the already inflated cost of the miniatures on GW's own site. There's still room to move them down another 30%.

I feel this is also going for The Black Library for me. NONE of the books except for the new Gaunt's Ghosts that are coming out interest me especially that of the new authors they have brought in, everything seems watered down for me now.
I would strongly suggest getting "Ciaphas Cain: Saviour of the Imperium" unless you already possess the earlier books held within. I would claim that "Ciaphas Cain: Choose Your Enemies" is goodish but do not buy it if you haven't read "Hero of the Imperium." (Also "Choose Your Enemies" is the worst one of an amazing series of books) The "Yarrick" omnibus is alright but it is not earth shattering. Being interested in the GW character Commissar Yarrick will make the book better. "Cadia Stands" is well written but is not mindblowing and the title is currently hilarious (Since GW blew Cadia into tiny pieces). Being interested in the character Ursarkar Creed will make the book better. What I'm saying is that if the "Yarrick" omnibus and "Cadia Stands" doesn't interest you, then you can probably avoid them although the books are not "bad." You can/should avoid "The Bloodied Rose" but the SoB omnibus is pretty good. I can't tell you about any other current 40k books. I suppose the "moral" is look at CC:SotI (It is very good, after all). If you are looking at Chronicles, (bias showing here) get "The Sundering," the "Tyrion and Teclis" omnibus and the "Witch Hunter" omnibus. That's all for today/tonight

Maybe a little bit more. I can see the Imperium whacking more and more Dakka onto things because they're constantly at war. It's a case of desperation over anything else. The more weaponry they can add without proving to be too big a drain on resources, the better. As much as I like different Chapters getting their own Lieutenant models, I would have appreciated an "All in one" kit version better, one that you could customize any way you want, with a little bit of extra stuff for the main Chapters. Which also would double as great fodder for Deathwatch conversions. I hate sculpted flames and smoke... that does not look like fun to paint.

Yes. But he lives off that I'm pretty sure, if he was as salty as me, he wouldn't survive as he'd lose too many subs. So honestly, he has to be friendly to GW. Also, as someone living in the UK, he doesn't cop the fat end of the ass plug, he is only getting a single digit in his ring from GW, so naturally he has a lot less to hate about them due to his unique circumstances.

That's why I rephrased what I said. They fail upwards because people apologise on the company's behalf for the company making terrible decisions. Take the FW debacle, when Macdonalds raised the price of one item, a soft serve cone, the public got so pissed they made MacD's go back to the old price overnight. Macdonalds is a lot bigger than GW. When GW increased the price of Forge World globally over 8600 people told them that's bullshit and they just ignored it, and worse than that, many people defended it for some reason. So when I say they are inept but fail upward, I'm dead serious.
