I found being an RMIT student a very alienating experience. With a campus so big and with so many students it's rare that you see a familiar face. I actually transferred to Swinburne halfway through my first year and felt that the sense of being apart of a community was very strong on campus. I feel proud to be a Swinburne student and I have a calmness wash over me whenever I'm on campus instead of feeling stressed and lost like I was at RMIT.
I did my undergraduate at Swinburne and my masters at RMIT. I definitely loved the campus and community feeling at Swinburne, which is very relaxing but I like the lecturers at RMIT city campus, though I do feel disconnected with the student community there.
thanks for the video - it is an under spoken issue at rmit, it does have faciities but in terms of social networking there aren't clubs or anything worth going to, if ur an average student. and most of the time when you are there you wont be able to take advantage of a social life because you'd be studying all the time
I want to study computer science (software development ) Have applied to Western Sydney university Deakin university Swinburne university Rmit university University of wollongong Which uni should I choose?? And why?
I would look at the international ranking of each of them, and specifically for their computer science departments. Beyond this, I'd also look at their graduate employment rates, and whether they help you find work experience and employment afterwards.
Worst part about RMIT - it's huge and not student friendly at all. The Masters of Advertising was the worst course I have ever taken. Terrible lecturers and curriculum (was there one?). RMIT feels more like a business than a university.
