I have this motherboard but Im in a boot loop. I can normally use this motherboard for about 6 months and after that it showing this error and is in a boot loop the error message when restart was: please ensure to fully connect at least one 8-pin atx_12v connector to the psu for system stab we strongly recommend connecting all atx12v connectors under heavy usage.

@FPP_Tech 21 день назад
@@sajans3998 Do You have both 8pin cpu cables connected and have you tried re-seating them? The only posts I've come across for that message were either bad connection at the cpu power or the board thinking it needs both cpu power cables connected. If it's not that, I'd reach pit to ASUS support. Could be an actual issue.

Good morning. I'm glad you're talking about the board. I really like your channel setup. I have a Custom Gundam build in a ROG Helios case. My profile pic is a random picture I downloaded off the net. D.OC.P combined with A.I. overclock is awesome. I'm using the Gskill Trident Z DDR5 6400 and getting the full 6400 with no issues since the BIOS update. Overclocks the processor to 5.8 without issues. I'm using the NZXT cooling. I'm looking forward to your results and finished build. I truly feel your channel is going to takeoff. Very nice aesthetics, you have a welcoming demeanor.

@@4k28kgamerz8 Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! We are slowly expanding content and honing in on our Niche. Hopefully can get my hands on a 7900xtx next week so I can side by side with the 4090. Lots of good things coming in the pipeline. We'll also be giving away a Castle 360EX in an upcoming vid. Fores And Pours Tech OH wow!! 7900XTX! I'm definitely tuning back in. In my AMD build I have the 7950X paired with the Asus Tuf OC 4090. In the Intel build I have the 13900k paired with the same video card, same RAM. Z790-F for the mobo. What I love about AMD is that they've decided to release their own products and just be AMD. People will comment about the Raytracing capabilities, but the 7900XTX will be awesome regardless. AMD will come through with FSR 3.0 that will allow great framerates with Raytracing. I hope you get the card. I can't wait to see your vid.

@@4k28kgamerz8 Those are two sick builds. I agree. The 7900XTX should give near 4090 raster at 60% the price. Ray Tracing is cool, but only a few games use it well. I'm really interested to see the encoding improvements for video. NVENC is the reason I still use Nvidia in my editing rig.

@DB-47

I have this motherboard since 06/2023 and so far I am mostly satisfied. By being not completly white this board can be fit also into black build especially when large VGA and/or tower air cooler cover metalic coloured heatsinks on SSDs, chipset and VRM negating white appearance. So it is good not only when going for white PC setup. Speaking of VRM, it is rock solid, even when I am having 7950X with power limit unlocked up to 260W in short bursts and 220 - 230W permanently, VRM never gets above 65 °C. VRMs seem to be generally overpowered on AM5 boards. Having all 4 M.2 slots with heatsinks is great feature especially if you go with multiple Gen 4 models which can be hot like in my case Firecuda 530 and Fury Renegade. However what I like about this board is easy to navigate UEFI where all items are logically grouped and even if you have trouble to find something, there is full text search within UEFI, so finding certain item is piece of cake. You can save your UEFI settings into user profiles, so you can easily backup your settings or create multiple profiles like one with more aggresive overclock or more chilled one when you do not need to harvest all computing performance. You can also backup those setting onto USB drive so if you update UEFI or you need to reset CMOS (CMOS reset button is very useful if you for instance go too far with undervolt). What I dislike about this board is that out of box it has slow memory trainings either with EXPO or XMP profile turned on. Prior to my tweaks it took whopping 56 seconds to complete memory training on my 2x 32 GB G Skill Trident Z5 6000 CL 30 kit. Fortunately this was solvable: After enabling "Restore memory context" and "Power down" in both AI Tweaker and AMD CBS it dropped down to 8 seconds without sacrificing stability. Secondly I dislike that this board overvolts VDDIO (memory controller on CPU) and SoC is rather high (but still safe). I dropped VDDIO from 1400 mV down to 1150 mV and SoC from 1275 mV down to 1175 mV. Again if you spend time with trial and error attempt going down with the voltage and verifying stability, you can fix this as well. Lastly in this price range and for typical buyer (high budget gaming PC, workstation which can fully utilise X670E chipset benefits) this board lacks POST code display which can display with greater accuracy where the POST failed and give more context to less tech savy user. In the past board was much less stable and I experienced some issues with RAM and CPU undervolting, however with more user experience and newer UEFI versions (currently running 1905 release) stability issues are gone and the only bluescreen I received 2 weeks ago was related to graphics driver which had nothing to do with motherboard or CPU IMC RAM chain. P.S. This board has also easter egg. In boot settings you can switch UEFI background from default ROG red black theme to Se7en anime mode with black blue colours. It will also replace ROG logo with waifu when booting into Windows or right after successful POST.

As somebody who does a lot of 3D work, VFX work, and streaming this is starting to look like the "budget" board for me. I was just telling my buddy the other day to not even bother with latest M.2 drives because it's not going to matter for gaming. The only people that will actually SEE the benefits are folks like me who have massive amounts of pre-comp layers in After Effects that need to be previewed at full quality in real time speeds in their timeline or writing hundreds of doing fluid simulations in 3D software where the cache files can easily get up into the hundreds of GBs range for a few seconds long clip.

Completely agree. I noticed a huge difference in Premiere & AE when I jumped up to a Gen 4 spatium m480, but no difference in gaming. At this point, I'm wondering if when Gen 5 m.2's finally come out, will you even tell for high level editing. Eventually you start bottlenecking other places like ram, software, or cpu.

Thanks for watching. There could be a couple things that I've seen from people. Early on, there were some Ram compatibility issues, if I recall correctly, i came across one thread specifically talking about corsair. I also know there have been issues with the latest bios update not letting ram run in EXPO, but from what I've seen, it's just the X3d chips having issues. It's a recent thing, so there may be more to it. JayzTwoCents did a great break down on it in one of his videos. I'm using this board with G.Skill Trident z 6000 cl30, & previously had the same kit but in cl36. Both run with no issues with expo enabled. I'll link them below. I believe the cl36 is Samsung die, and the cl30 is Sk Hynix. amzn.to/3FR43ts amzn.to/3z4h7HU

Awesome video, and thank you for breaking down this specific motherboard - new subscriber here. You are the first video that spoke about this motherboard which I was unsure on purchasing. I have come to the conclusion that I will buy it. However I would appreciate some advice. So this will be my first AMD build - I have always been an intel user and recently my 8700k has started to be a bit of a issue in terms of my current gaming needs, specifically around FPS. I'm also currently on 3000mhz 32 gigs of RAM running a 3080ti with 850w PS. I made this build with the 1080 back in 2017 or so, and I upgraded the 1080 to the 3080 ti when it came out, and I haven't had much issues until this yearish. My plan is to upgrade only the motherboard, CPU, RAM and storage, i'm going for the - Corsair Vengeance RGB 64GB 6600MHz - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - Asus ROG Strix X670E-A Gaming - Crucial P5 Plus 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 4.0 x4 3D NAND NVMe I may go for a new case and cpu cooler as well. CPU cooler was upgraded last year, so I don't see the need to upgrade that just yet. My questions are: 1- Will this build be good long term usage, for example, I want this motherboard in particular so that I can upgrade to future 5080's and 6090 GPUs if they become PCI5? And will the CPU last long for games up to the next 5 years, similar to my 8700k? 2- Out of curiousity, in the video you said, to update the BIOS just by having it connected to the power-supply and then plugging the USB in. Does it make a difference if i do that after I finish the entire build? 3- I do some basic video editing here and there, the 8700k did a decent job, and I know there are CPUs that are for better use than this for video editing. But for casual renders in davinici resolve with no issues with how long it takes and photo editing in photoshop, will the CPU hold me back big time, or will it get the job done like the 8700k and more? Primary focus is gaming, secondary would be editing and stuff. 4- will my Corsair RM850x 80 PLUS Gold have enough/sufficient power for this upgrade? Also thank you for explaining that those 5th gen SSDs don't make that much of a difference, I guess I'll hold out on one of those until they make 15000 mb/s at a cheap price or something like that :p

Hi, thanks for watching! I’ll try to answer all your questions as best as I can. Obligatory, “these are just my opinions, and you should always source multiple resources” disclosure, though. I’ll also link some ram and a cooler at the bottom that I think will fit your build better (Affiliate links). 1) I think the long-term usability is there for you. The 7800x3d is THE BEST gaming CPU out there right now, and it still does great in production work and daily driver tasks while also being very efficient. You’re also on year 1 of the AM5 socket and there will likely be 2 or 3 more generations on this platform from AMD. 2) You can update the BIOS after. I would recommend doing it first, if possible, though. There were a few critical updates over the summer, especially for the x3d cpu’s. You never know how long the MoBo was sitting on a shelf before being sold. Flashback on ASUS motherboards is very easy. I even did a video on it a few months back. 3) The CPU will not hold you back. Are there better options for editing? Yes a 7950x or 7950x3d are better, but much more expensive. A 7700x is a little better as well and less expensive, but you give up a lot of the gaming greatness that comes with the x3d. The 7800x3d is probably the most balanced overall right now. 4) Your PSU is fine. I wouldn’t consider upgrading until you upgrade your GPU, which I also think is fine for the time being. The 3080Ti is still a beast of a gaming gpu. Here is a Ram set and AIO I think would work great with your build. The Corsair ram you listed is just fine, but I can personally vouch for this Gskill set. It’s expo enabled for AMD, CL30 6000, and very stable with the 7800x3d with expo turned on. You can go higher than 6000, but it’s diminishing returns. amzn.to/49ME2bQ As for AIO, don’t skimp on cooling for the 7800x3d. The chips are very temp sensitive, but easy to cool. I use a deepcool 360mm AIO, It’s the best bang for the buck right now and only $75 for Cyber Monday. amzn.to/49OhgR7 I hope that helps. Again, these are all just my opinions.

@FPP_Tech
@FPP_Tech Год назад
No pain at all, I love answering questions from the community. Remember your gpu has a dedicated power supply from your psu, so no issues there. The pcie slot on this board is Gen5, the 4090 is still only using pcie4, so you should definitely be future proofed there. As far as cpu, this is an AMD board, so no 13900ks, but for future amd chips, you'll still be fine for likely the life of the socket. With 2 8pin connectors, I doubt you're going to see a chip that demands more any time soon. If you are doing an Intel build, I did 2 similar videos on z790 & z690 boards in the last month, so feel free to check out the channel for those. Isn't this board the exact same as the Asus PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI (other than a few slight aesthetic changes)...but costs more? If so, PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI would be an even better value. I'm in between this STRIX board and the PRIME one. Thoughts?
@FPP_Tech
@FPP_Tech Год назад
They are similar, but there are a few key differences. The Pro only has 1 gen 5 m.2 slot vs 2 on the Strix. It also has less connectivity on the rear i/o and doesn't have a clear cmos button. That can come in handy if you like tweaking stuff in the BIOS a lot. Finally it only has 14+2 vs 16+2 power phases. That really isn't going to matter unless you are running a 7950x and overclocking it, but it is a difference. If the choice is between the 2, I'd go strix. If you are looking to save money, there are a lot of B series boards out there with similar feature set to the Pro for even less money. The Strix was on sale the other day for $390, not sure if it still is, but you can check the link in the description to see.

@@FPP_Tech Thank you. Perfect explanation and clears it up nicely. After my comment earlier on this, I did a bit of research, and adding to your comment the STRIX vs PRIME (in case it may be useful to others). Has S/PDIF Out port 1 more fan headers (7 vs 6) 4 more USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (USB-A) (7 vs 3) 1 more PCIe x1 slots (1 vs 0) 2 more USB 2.0 ports (2 vs 0) 1 more USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (USB-C) (2 vs 1) *only on the Strix x670e-F model So after your help and doing the research (which I should have done first, apologies), the STRIX is no doubt the more featured board. I am more of a do I "need" it feature type than a "want" it type. Roughly ~$40 extra for the STRIX vs PRIME isn't a deal breaker at all on a $300+ mobo. With that said, I will likely go with the STRIX over the PRIME for future-proofing, which for me is definitely a need. Looking forward to the upgrade! Thanks again for your reply!

Hi, The F Panel varies a lot from case to case. Some case manufacturers include a 1 piece adapter, but often you have to look at the MoBo diagram and insert the little connectors yourself. The main front panel header will be at the bottom right of the MoBo. It's one of the last few pain points with building. Everything else has been pretty much standardized.

How does this board perform with the ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU? I currently have the Asus prime X670-P WiFi motherboard and I know it’s a cheap build board and not really all that good. After getting my PC professionally optimized I’ve had audio issues with it crackling and cutting completely out for a few seconds and have had to have my PC guy turn down my settings from the bios options. My board only has 12+2 power stages so it’s definitely not the best option for what I use it for. And I’ve always had my eye on this board I just don’t know anything about them… and with my CPU and my G-Skill trident Z5 ram which is the best on the market for gaming it just seems like my motherboard can’t put out the power that I need for everything to run flawlessly…

I can promise you, the power phases are just a money grab. I have run a 7950x overclocked on this board and it doesn't even get warm. As for the extra gen 5 slots, it'll be a few years before those even matter. Neither AMD or NVIDIA are using PCIE 5 in their new cards, and gen 5 m.2 storage is still ridiculously expensive and barley a noticeable difference from gen 4. The last thing is the led debug light. I try to respond to as many comments as possible, even on my oldies. This is just speculation, so take it with a grain of salt, but I don't think you'll have any issues pushing any of the AM5 generation chips, even out to whatever models they're dropping in 2027 (AMD's claimed socket lifecycle). As it stands, pretty much all of the x670e boards are overpowered to begin with, and if we look at the coming 9000 series, AMD kept the TDP's the same (and even backed down on a few). I can't imagine the next generation after 9000 being much more power hungry. AMD has shown a commitment to efficiency rather than just blasting it with more watts. As for the 7950x3d, it's a beast of a chip that runs super efficient. Turn on PBO, drop your curve to -30 and let it do it's thing. By the way, Amazon has the 7950x3d the cheapest I've seen since launch. I'll link below. If you're in the US & planning to order from Amazon, using our affiliate links really help us out. @@giovanniluigi791 don't mind at all. I'll address things out of order, but it will all make sense by the end. As far as pbo & overclocking goes, if you just stay at stock, you're leaving massive performance on the table, especially with an X3d cpu. It's not like the old days though. It's just a couple clicks in the bios. I have a video on the 7950x (non-3d) you can watch to help get familiar with the bios. (ignore the settings tips, it's a different cpu). Just turn on pbo, then under curve optimizer set it to negative & type in 30 (you may need 25 of that's not stable, but it almost always is). Same thing goes for ram. You need to turn expo on, or you'll run at stock Jedec speeds. For the 7950x3d, I'd recommend a 6000mts kit at cl30. Gskill has a fairly inexpensive set. You'll struggle to get 4 sticks stable with expo, but 2x32 should be fine. I obviously do a ton of 4k editing as well, and my main editing rig only has 32GB & is just fine. You will likely never exceed 64GB no matter how many effects & layers you use. Extra ram isn't like buying a better cpu or gpu. It literally does nothing for you if you don't need it. A lot of times, it actually hurts with stability & just wastes your money. Finally, 24GB & 48GB sticks are fairly new, but definitely supported by AMD's 7000 series chips. TLDR: turn on PBO, Set a negative curve, & go with a 2x32GB 6000mhz kit unless you absolutely know for sure you need more. Otherwise it's wasted money.

Would I be able to mess around a bit with the RAM and leave the CPU tweaking alone or if I mess around with the RAM speeds I necessarily need to mess around with the CPU too for things to be stable? @@giovanniluigi791 again, no worries man. Expo / xmp (expo for amd, xmp for intel, though both work for either) is just a 1 click thing. In your bios it's either on or off. It auto adjusts the timings. Check the qvl list for the board and make sure that kit is on their support page. It's been a while & there's literally hundreds, so I don't know off top of head. You should be good with the 96gb kit. It's only when you go to 4 sticks it starts getting difficult to stay stable. Make sure you update Bios to the most recent option. Finally, don't over-worry. You have to start clicking around in places you shouldn't be to hurt anything. The simple stuff like expo, pbo, etc.. Are all pretty hard to mess up & easily fixable of you do. After Effects can definitely get up there in ram usage. I mainly use premiere and if I need something crazy, I'll look for pre-created assets on Motion array or envato. @@playernas65 thanks, it's a great rig, but to be honest, what you're building is more practical. The 4090 is awesome, but a 4070ti would have been just as good for me. I just built in November, before the 4070ti was available. Your rig will be awesome. You're going to be fine for future proofing. The main pcie expansion slot is Gen 5. Even a 4090 is still only gen4. The main 2 m.2 slots are Gen 5,and won't need more than that for years. The power delivery can handle whatever you throw at it for the next several years. If you're going with a white build, this is by far the best value out there that offers multiple years of support. If you have any issues feel free to reach out.

ROG STRIX X670E-A Gaming Wifi I recently built a new PC and on stock config everything worked perfectly. Unfortunately, I do not recall the BIOS Version it was shipped with. Was purchased 11/10/2023. I updated the BIOS to version 1905 and it would not post with EXPO enabled. With it disabled it would post. Same thing with previous versions 1904, 1807, 1709. I got tired of trying all the bios versions and rolled it back to 5/16/2023 version 1415 and finally got it to boot with EXPO enabled. Holy shit was this a headache. You can do it both ways. The early x670e boards had some memory training issues that made the initial post take forever. Those were mostly fixed with later BIOS updates. I'm sure most boards coming from the manufacturer have neen updated to the most recent version. But, because you can't be sure how long it sat on a shelf in inventory somewhere, it could be out of date. That's why I'd recommend updating first. @nickdedmor performance was all within margin of error on every one at stock. Typically 2x16 will be faster than 4x16. If you need 64GB, you're better off going 2x32, but again 2x16 will be faster. Also, 6000mts is reportedly the "sweet" spot for ryzen 7000, so you may want to select a 6000 profile in bios even though your sticks support 6400. But the honest truth is, I doubt you would notice the difference between the speeds anyway, so I wouldn't over think it, and definitely wouldn't over spend. We're talking microseconds in latency. Just clarifying a couple of things, you have a 7950x & are you not using a gpu at all & just using the iGPU, or do you have a gpu, just saying it's crashing with no usage? 650 is small for a system running a 7950x, but even at max, it's only pulling 230w. The rest of the system minus gpu probably only 100 total. I've seen threads where people claim to run a 7950x & 4070ti on 650, so I don't think that's the problem. You definitely need to be running the most up to date BIOS available. There were some issues with the early x670e Bios's. Like I said, we're building a test bench to do AIO testing coming up, & went with the B650e-e & OC'd 7950x for it. No point in testing coolers of you aren't going to hit it with the heat.

@@FPP_Tech I made the leap, Amazon was kind enough to refund me my money for the x670e and I purchased the b650e-e ngl can't tell a difference in performance is exactly the same the RGB was more vast on the hero with its strange display, tbh never liked it got scratched way to easy, this is a piece of black plastic with RGB shining through it. I am never going to use two gen 5 nvmes currently I am using a gen 4 980 pro which is still insanely fast, I will in a few years time get one gen 5 driver cause currently I have a gen 4 980 2tb.

Can that board run an overclocked rysen 9 7950x? I don't plan on overclocking it, i'm actually gonna put it on eco mode or manually drop the voltage, just to know if it has headroom for future generations
@FPP_Tech

Absolutely can. I'm currently running a 7950x in it for my editing rig. I've pushed it as hard as I can get it with no issues. By the way, I'm currently running it at a TDP between the 105 eco & stock that's actually giving me better performance at 23c cooler & almost 60w less power. I'll be doing a tuning video soon with all the details. Thanks for watching!

@@Gecko730 TDP is a marketing number amd uses some "creative" math to get to. You control ppt, TDC, & edc. I looked at those 3 for eco & stock and backed in to a number in the middle. @@FPP_Tech in your video I believe you said that its better to update bios before first post, but if I do that, the stability of the psu isn't tested yet, wouldn't it be better to stress test the system before updating the bios to be sure that it won't just turn off during the update ? And is it more reliable to do the update with the ez flash thing or using the cpu in bios menu
@FPP_Tech
@FPP_Tech Год назад
As far as reliability, I'd say it's about the same using flashback or the built in update tool. I definitely understand wanting to make sure psu is working properly. I haven't had an issue, but it's a possibility. The reason I recommended doing before your 1st boot is because the initial bios versions on a lot of x670e boards have trouble with memory testing & can take several cycles to post. Those issues were addressed in later bios versions, but it's very likely whatever board you get is still on the original bios. You won't hurt anything booting with the old then updating, it may just take 15min or so for your initial post.

You don't need pcie gen5 for GPUs and by the time you do am5 will be dead and you'll need to buy a new motherboard. Don't waste your money you can get a gigabyte b650 aorus elite ax that has a gen5 m.2 slot and 2 gen 4 m.2 slots for $229.

That's a completely valid point that I tried to call out & talk about in some other videos. Maybe if AMD holds this socket for 4 or 5 years, you might see a 60 series gpu or something like that, but at that point, you'll probably be upgrading your whole system for other reasons anyway. Just makes it even crazier when you look at the $600+ x670e boards out there. But they know if they build it, someone will buy it....

It SHOULD be able to just drop in, but I'd still recommend updating first through flashback. You never know how long it sat on a shelf somewhere. You can see the version it shipped with. It's the last 4 digits on the barcode label. Then crosscheck Asus's support page to see what the latest is. There were a few key X3d updates recently

I think with the growth of clear sided cases, it has become a showpiece or focal point of people's room, no different than a piece of furniture. So aesthesis matter to them and the manufacturers follow suit. You are not alone though. There are still tons of people that prefer function over form, especially in the smaller mATX, ITX build arenas. Thanks for watching.

@@FPP_Tech Throwback? I have over 300 PS2 keyboards and mice. The crme de la crem of keyboards is the 1984 IBM PS2 Model M which I have 9 of them, and typing on one now. If you ever type on one, you'll never want to type on anything else. I won't say the are the absolute best, but keyboards decidedly went downhill in the reverse after them. You can buy a PS2 to USB adpater for a few bucks, adn I have about 25 of them, but they won't help you doing a WIndows 7 or earlier install that is always expecting a PS2 mouse or keyboard... at least one or the other to click throught he install screens. YEah. Because there are no USB dirvers built in. I don't think USB even showed up until SWindows 98SE, and you still needed a PS2 port. SO I want to say, it's not a throwback, but a forever running long industry standard. Is an RJ45 ethernet connector also a throwback? Or an industry standard?
@ThanosIsUglyGD
@ThanosIsUglyGD Год назад
@@choppergirl Normally I'd agree, but in this case I disagree that keyboards went downhill after that, because of custom keyboards. Custom keyboards are amazing, and obviously you can make them however you want for the most part. Old keyboards also don't have any RGB which is a deal-breaker for me. I'm sure the latency isn't great on both P/S2 and switches on older keyboards as well, which is yet another deal-breaker. Also, just because you allegedly have 3,000 P/S2 keyboards and mice, doesn't not make it a throwback, it's still very old tech that most people don't use anymore.

ANd they don't have those little dots on the top of the key caps to identify the home keys. My Delog RGB keyboards do, but I am constantly searching for where to place my fingers on those RGB keyboards even when lighted. They are Klicky klack twoo, but the feel is no where near as good. Not even close. The lawyout is okay, but nothing compared to the MOdel M from 1984. I'm not talking about a reboot. I'm talking abouthte original. Once you try a Model M, it's like strapping on a Ferrari F40 or a Spitfire Mark V. It just fits right everywhere. Everything is in the right place. You'll never want to type on anything else. I find myself typing a ton of words for a comment like this because it is just such an orgasm to type on, I'm not joking. All those membrane keyboards that came out back in the 90's... I've got a lot of those and they are junk. Modern keyboards are universally junk. Event he klicky clack cherry switch ones are junk by comparison. Better than membrane, but not even in the same league. It's like trying to describe what a fresh bloomed rose smells like, to a person who's only spmelled cheap perfume on a prison guard all their life. One smells rich and velvety sand smooth... the other like alcoholish and though fragrent, too much so that it is pungent. Get yourself a PS/2 Model M.
