UPDATE: The Victrix Gambit is no longer the world's fastest Xbox controller, it has been usurped by the GameSir G7 SE! A 1000hz 1ms monster with Anti-Stick Drift hall effect sticks: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--SrDriEE8Pc.html
In summary, marketing is usually bullshit and this controller is pretty fire bruv. I promise on Nana's ashes I wont take another 40 day hiatus out of the blue, but I truly did need it. I'm a much different man now, and very excited to be uploading again Love you guys ❤
@@crispysocksss I haven't mained the series 2 in quite some time. Although it is a ton of fun to use, and I genuinely am God tier with it lol. I enjoy it, but if I use it all the time, it'll die before 6 months is up and I don't wanna buy 2 or 3 of em every year
what was the name of the controller that promised no drift? you mentioned it on a vid or stream, you said it used a different mechanism for the analog sticks....
You are indeed correct that the octagonal thumbstick rings are for fighting games. This controller alone has leveled up my fighting game abilities by at least 30% because I'm not missing my quarter circle moves. They make it so much easier to play that it's almost unfair.
@@1fareast14 actually the notches are the same on this. It really helps when it comes to holding a block and knowing exactly where in the rotation your stick is. But yeah everyone I know uses the stick and not the d-pad
hey vCuda, I wanted to let you know that thanks to your reviews I managed to learn a lot about controllers and managed to get myself a wolverine v2 chroma last monday as my first controller in the pro controller field to say, and i'm absolutely loving it, the clicky bumpers and face buttons, the silent triggers, the godly d-pad for fighting games, i've been using it with console emulation and the extra buttons are really handy, it's amazing. Hopefully it will last me a good couple of years. Wished more companies started adopting actual trigger stops and high polling rates like this one tried. Cya and have a good one
ayyyy I'm right there with you but I got the Ultimate, not the Chroma, renewed for like 70$ on amazon. Worth every penny, cause they sent me a basically new controller.
@@HawkNocturnal I don't have big hands either, at first its weird yeah, but i got used to it. I can press the back buttons just fine using my index or middle fingers, but if you wanna cover all options with your hands, i find it that using my ring finger or pinky is very uncomfortable
@@JuliTV123 thanks for the reply man. Yeah I use my index finger for the triggers and bumpers. Normally I have the middle finger on the top back buttons and the ring fingers on the bottom ones. Sadly you say that’s awkward. Cause damn that controller looks so damn nice. And the mechanical face buttons etc. the extra two buttons on the front as well I think could be very helpful. How are they? And if u would be so kind. How is the liability? Stick drift or other failures? Cause u might make me wanna just go ahead and buy it. One controller I’m definitely gonna try is the gamesir g7. And I can’t wait for the ASUS raikiri pro.
@@HawkNocturnal oh if you're using your middle and ring fingers for the back buttons is totally fine, i meant uncomfortable as in using index for bumpers, middle for triggers, ring for top back and pinky for lower back. I said that because i got used to having my index and ring fingers on my bumpers and triggers respectively, you shouldnt have any issues with your hand positioning/layout. Its pretty reliable, haven't experienced stick drift, dpad, face buttons and the extra "bumper like" buttons are clicky and responsive, very nice to the touch. My left trigger started "not being silent" as it was when it arrived, as if like it got a bit worn out, still works with no issues other than sound. Just be mindful of not stepping on the cables too much, i ran over them a bit too many times with my wheelchair (that's on me, i'm a dumbass), it sometimes gets disconnected when the cable is put on certain positions, still works fine tho. Give it a try, i still love this controller
I just want you to know that your content is incredible . If anything I hope you continue in your RU-vid journey because you’re talented , original , and it’s a breath of fresh air to watch your videos . Whatever you do man, keep the content coming no matter how long it takes . We can tell that you put effort into your videos which shows. Good job brother .
I've had this controller since launch and I agree with pretty much everything in this review. It definitely feels faster on my Xbox than any of my standard or Elite controllers. I honestly don't get why Microsoft is still limiting their standard/Elite controllers to 124Hz... My biggest complaint with the controller however is the lack of any kind of grip on the bottom shell. It's all just this smooth, cheap, black plastic underneath. I cut some grips for it myself using Lizard Skins DIY mouse grip and it was so much better. Also an interesting little thing with the Dolby Atmos, if you're using it on Xbox at least, you don't actually need to be using headphones plugged into the controller to get Atmos. As long as the controller is plugged in you can use Atmos with whatever wireless headphones you're using as well, or if you're using headset format audio over HDMI. This is because is simply provides a license for Atmos, it's not actually doing anything special on a hardware level to make it possible.
Swapped the elite controller 2 out for the gambit, holy shit... Shipped with 3 MS OC'd it to 0.3 MS lmfao. Literally 0 input delay and makes you feel like you're playing on 300 FPS, aim feels mad crispy, felt like I was controlling a tank with the elite. So happy with it so far. Only down side I can really point out is when you're using four paddles, it's very easy to hit the top ones by accident. If you're happy with two then it's a beaut of a controller.
We NEED more controllers with higher Polling rates, and I'm not even talking about pro controllers specifically. I play Claw so Paddles and buttons on the back are more of a hindrance to me than a help. I want to See a Controller with Higher build construction and better materials (wouldn't mind a controller with a FULL METAL Frame as I like heavy controllers and Mice) More Accurate and Consistent Sticks, Tactile Mechanical buttons, Tactile Mouse Click Bumpers, FUNCTIONAL higher NATIVE polling rate (1000Hz), A cable locking system to prevent wear on Cable end or the input port, Optional EXTRA short Sticks (Which would be Great of CQB fast paced gameplay) If the controller has back buttons I'd like a back cover to prevent claw players like me from hitting them accidentally, Better Shaped and Durable Grips (with Finger grooves) A platform Switch allowing use on ANY of the current Gen Consoles or PC, Good Software tool for remapping and Stick Calibration and RGB Colour Settings. And While not Important to Function Programable RGB Backlight for ABXY/ Square, Circle, Triangle, X Buttons, Xbox Guide button/ PS Lightbar, and an Arrow on each direction of the Dpad. Multiple Swappable Face plates. This would create the ULTIMATE competitive Controller and would be Truly worthy of the title PRO CONTROLLER, I don't mind paying a lot for high quality Equipment (Hell I spend £250 On a Headset - Astro A40 TR + Mixamp pro) But just having Features is not enough, I want my controller to have the performance to back it up AND to perform THE SAME WAY CONSISTENTLY to allow me to improve my muscle memory and allow ME to perform at my best consistently. Great Video, Don't Know why but RU-vid Unsubbed me so I Sub'd back Liked and hit Noti bell. :)
Hi cuda, thanks for this review. I have been watching your content for age's and I took a gamble on this controller as I thought it had the best bang for the buck. Thanks for making me feel better about my purchase also 22mins was a breeze to watch.
I already watched your video on the PowerA Spectra! Bought it done! Waiting on it to arrive. NOT buying any other controller *for now* but here i am binge watching your videos bro! Really good you earned a sub!
Great review!!! I ended up teaching myself how to use this controller after my Wolverine tournament gave up on me after two years of service (rip). The only thing I hated was how quick the back buttons turned from click to mush. I couldn’t tell you how many times I thought I had put in multiple inputs just to see something happen once or twice on screen… Ended up returning it and getting a new one just to find new issues in the controller! Ended up returning it all together to get the series 2 and I’m pretty satisfied.
Remeber on series 2 that the bumbers usually stsrts breaking after 6 month So try map the bumpers to actions you rarely use control schemes like bumper jumper breaks the small plastic middle layer wich activates the bumpers analog triggers inside Also with every controller can always ship with stick drift acceptable levels are around 0-4% for others its like 0-9% The DLI if youbusing the series x can acheive sub 2ms input lag wich is faster than the razer ones and gambit 4ms but wireless can never be as consistent as wired So series 2 on wired is like 7-8ms in 120 +fps mode The analog stick accuracy on the series 2 seems to be lower than the razors but it could be due to stick drift aswell The acceleration zones in the controller is very slow compared to gambit and razors Wich cound be good for som bad for others I prefer fast personallly But this you can customize in the app though You can use agressive ,instant curve Series 2 uses radial calculation default but you can change it Other xbox controllers use axial independent The true diagonal is a mix between the two
@Llify they use some cheap plastic for the internal trigger think of like toothbrush plastick a small rektangular plastic sheet wich breaks after 6 months
Worth the wait. You actually covered the thumbsticks too which no one does. I liked the controller but after a while I had to switch. Did not like the analog sticks and how it doesn’t detect small movements.
Sticking with my Fusion Pro 2, I have 1000 hours on it playing Apex Legends over the last year with minimal stick drift (5% deadzone) and no button failures, so I'm impressed
Keep this up dude, I love the honesty that you put into these reviews, I a whole lot better and others that so very little info on the performance and other things.
I havent laughed that hard at random youtube video in a while man, fucking needed that. Thanks mate, that comparison @ 6:18 was gold lol. The attention to small details other would have overlooked also makes me hard.
2 years no issues EXCEPT, the plastic cover was cutting my left joystick in half along the base. Switched to the rubber plate, no issues due to the material, not as cool looking but again no more damage and better grip.
Have always loved your reviews and this one was no different. You are easily the best controller tech reviewer out there and you absolutely delivered on this one. As an Xbox player this is by far the best controller I have ever used. After 6 months of HEAVY warzone usage my particular unit is still going strong. Thanks again Cuda for the solid breakdown!
That gaming heaven guy used to be good but he’s so annoying now, just trying too hard to be funny in literally every sentence, cuda just gets on with it, he deserves the subs and views
Also I’m only using the PDP wave afterglow with the rear buttons and the deluxe previously, and they’re by far the most responsive and quickest + lowest deadzone of all the controllers I’ve used in the past including elite, elite s2 and razer wolverine power A etc, PDP especially for the price are brilliant, I just wish the Victrix was wireless like the PlayStation Victrix
Thanks man! I do my best give people what they're actually looking for. Reviews on controllers always boil down to the basic tech RU-vid format with surface level information and a positive rating at the end. There's more to them than that, and I think people are starting to see it!
Definitely felt called out / was nodding my head when you got to the audiophile segment. I saw the software for dolby and was just thinking "I'd rather just use Peace GUI" and sure enough, you already had the app icon pulled out haha :)
I bought this controller to back up my V2 Chroma. The Gambit quickly became my go to being so responsive. The review is highly accurate. Two issues I have with the Gambit. One is the paddles. I don't use paddles. And there is no non-paddle back plate )-: I removed it. Now there is just a square hole in the back. Second issue it does feel "cheap." Long gaming periods has rubbed my hands raw to hurting my Hands/Palms. I used painters tape over the 2 palm grips for padding. It's a quick cheap solution without damaging, or leaving sticky film.
Yo dude. I have watched a few of your videos. Love your don’t give a shit attitude. Reminds me of me and my friends when we talk about gaming. No reason to sound like some corporate squawk box. Keep it up man!
In my opinion you should be comparing The Victrix Gambit to the newer version of Microsoft's pro controller The Elite Series 2 Core..... Apparently from what Microsoft says The Elite Series 2 Core was built more durable than the original Elite Series 2 and The Elite Series 2 Core is now only 130 bucks plus taxes.
I’m a pro player of sorts and have gone through two of these. Best analog stick ever! Button shoulder buttons are week iv broken them both with normal use.
Everyone talks about how “cheap it feels” and never takes the time to use it enough to realize this is probably theee best controller on the market. I could sit here and listen to all the reasons why but out of alll the controllers I’ve tried this is my absolute favorite one surprisingly enough. This thing is a Sleeeeeeeper!
Hahaha mann i thought you was saying "hey Cuder/Cooter..." when reading your comments in the intro. So henceforth, i shall now refer to you as Cuder instead of Cuda from today on dude 😁. Which is just as fucking cool to me my guy. No disrespect inteded fyi. In fact, you are one of two people i take serious and always refer to when it comes to gaming peripherals advice/reviews or questions i need answers to. You deserve all the good vibes your channel gets bro. Keep up the banging content my guy, its absolutely enjoyed and appreciated here 100%
I have a few complaints but this is a great controller. 1. They use Polyshine FR10K thumbstick modules. I know ALPS get a bad rep but they are the most reliable and the longest lasting ones out there. 2. Built in deadzone, I've played low on low deadzone for a while now and can't go back. This is more of a me issue but im sure others would like the option too. 3. The back buttons are too easy to press. I don't gorilla grip my controller but I still found my self accidently actuating the buttons, with either the 2 or 4 button layout, when clicking in LS/RS. Using heavyer switches or adding a little pretravel would help alleviate that. One thing to note is that it actually has 6 different back switches, the 2 and 4 button attachment all actuate different switches. Maybe if there is someone savvy enough with 3d modeling and a printer they could make use of them all.
I also noticed the extra buttons inside the ridge where the buttons go, but I don't think anyone could make use of it due to space constraints unfortunately
Thanks for the review. New video looks better than ever. Been eyeing the Victrix for a month now so I really appriciated the timing here. The Astro C40 is my daily driver and since the Victrix has a similar profile and layout I really feel compelled to give it a try. I'd like to see how the new 8bitdo Ultimate Wired Controller for Xbox stacks up to the Victrix's price to performance ratio when it launches at $45 USD. Maybe someday Microshaft will let 3rd party controllers use the Xbutt wireless protocol so I don't need a 10 foot usb cable with an extension just to play on the couch for a couple hours every now and then.
Yeah they're some stingy mfs aren't they? I heard it cost ABSURD amounts of money to obtain one, so most companies don't. In fact, now that I really sit down and think, I don't think a single company has. The only wireless pro controllers out there for Xbox that aren't the elite are the Custom controllers that are built out of stock ones lol. Hmm. It must be reeeeeally pricey, I've seen Sony do it a handful of times so I'd assume MS would allow 3rd party manufacturers to get one at a hefty cost
hey man thank you I was really worried about getting elite and it getting fucked up in a few months and you showed me better alternative some bucks cheaper thanks
Great vid. I got the fusion pro 2 for 62 on amazon; satisfied with my purchase after this video. Then I saw thrustmeters came out with a newer cheaper controller....
Great review as always. I've actually owned 4 of these over about 3 months, by far the best controller I've ever used, but the reliability on it was so bad I had to warranty it 4 times. Every time it was due to the thumbstick potentiometers causing jumpy inputs. Two of the controllers only lasted 2 weeks. I know 3 other people who have owned them too, and they also have had issues with the thumbsticks. So a great controller, but it has problems.
I love this controller ❤️, it has become my go to controller for any competitive gaming situation. Its easy to program the buttons under the grips and it has full rumble capability as well! Great 👍 controller well worth your money 💴!
Ironic personal advice that is simultaneously useful and self contradictory since it caught me off guard, got me to comment, and I'm seriously considering hitting the sub button, all because you where being yourself.
Since this is a block of text, I can't tell the tone of this comment lol. Which is a huge issue on the internet imo. Are you saying my advice is ironic, and I copy the guys at the top, or are you being sarcastic? 😂
@@vCuda my bad, the tone was meant to be a compliment. You gave genuinely good advice (copy success is the quickest rout to success) but in the process proved to be the exception that proves the rules since it was your unique take that got me to sub. I like your style and am looking forward to checking out the rest of your videos.
@@ab-hx8qe you're good man! It's always difficult to actually assess what someone is saying through text, things like tone are gone so it's hard to tell sometimes I appreciate it man, but tbh, I myself don't even see me as the exception. I just put a Gaming channels Coat of paint over a tech channel and it somehow worked out 😂 but I'm glad you enjoy the content, there's a lot more to come in the next few months. Very exciting times!
lol on the powerA if you want faster triggers. go to the calibration and set the triggers on the shortest pull instead of regular like it says then calibrate it. Your trigger will activate way faster.
The victrix is cheap and Left shoulder button snapped of after 3 months just bought fusion pro 2 yesterday its its already better and 30 dollars cheaper. great review BTW I love these videos
I appreciate you searching reddit, amazon review, youtube comments, and twitter for reliability issues, that must require a lot of work. I like to do the same for any products I buy as I dont like giving money to a product that wont last because then it leads to waste, and with controllers specifically e-waste.
It's a must man. People online aren't the most reliable, but they DO like to complain so I can use that to my advantage as a reviewer! It's a huge help in figuring out what really works and what doesn't. As well as what features people are looking for, what their using it for, shit like that
good shit on that review. if they can tie up the bad spots this controller will be the king. maybe remove the dolby and push for better QC and a better polling rate
I do not recommend this controller because I got stuck drift in the first month than after like 5 months I couldn’t turned right and the joy stick was jammed and still haven’t been able to get it to work
Well, I recorded it the 5th and the script took around a week to put together. Cutting out all the bs time I had during my 40 day hiatus, it probably took me about 3 weeks to put it together I'm a firm believer in the fact that you can't make good content if you upload daily, or most days of the week. So I try to keep it at 1 a week, 2 or 3 if the videos are shorter
I'm doing drugs now sir and I can't thank you enough. I would never have thought to overclock my joystick but now I can't stop. I'm polling everything. Everything is polling. My rates. My god damn rates and the world is ending. I was on my way to run-ahead, but now (thanks to your channel) I can just let it roll-back in realtime. I wish I knew about drugs when I was younger.
Hey vCuda, I'm new in your channel, but I already think your content about joysticks in general is one of the best we can find in RU-vid. Have you ever tried a 8BitDo joystick? They have 2 models for xbox and pc, 8BitDo Pro 2 and 8BitDo Ultimate Wired Controller.
I've had this controller for a while now and I want to give an honest review of it. Note that this is my experience and you may have a different experience witht he controller. I use it on Xbox so I don't get the speed boost. It's a good controller overall. Nice trigger stops, amazing long stick and it feels nice to hold. My time with it hasn't been the best though. The left stick has had MAJOR stick drift issues that apparently are being experienced by a lot of people. The stick input seems to be pulling in the opposite direction you're trying to make it go. For example if I move the stick to the left it'll pull to the right a bit. It's a massive pain to play with because your inputs are literally being worked against. The paddles/buttons are another issue. The 2 button layout is fine. It's comfortable to use and it has fine performance. The 4 button layout is stupid. It's hard to hit the bottom 2 paddles and it doesn't feel comfortable to use. Then there's the shells... The plastic one feels incredibly cheap and the rubber one feels a bit awkward to use. The diamond D-Pad is literally useless. It's horrible to use. It feels like you're stabbing your eyes with thumbtacks. The cord is also *too* long. The Dolby Atmos is nice and the app is actually really in-depth. I would put more thoughts here but I can't bc space. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Edit: Forgot to mention that the triggers are more sensitive than an angry karen. If I push too hard on the back of the controller near the trigger it'll activate.
Alright Kuda so I've watched 16 of your videos at this point and I have to ask eve though I can figure what you might say but what would be a good controller that doesn't develop stick drift as fast, overall what is the best out of all you've done
Bruh...I have used many an xbox controller, and have never found one with the same latency and deadzone feeling as the xbox 360...until I found the Nacon Revolution x Pro...it feels like plastic...but I swear the internals are high end, it's clicky, but once I made a high sensitivity profile for shooters on it's app...oh..my..GOD! The latency is an extension of my brain! Its SO fast! I can control high sensitivity fps again! Hope to see you review it one day.
Reliability is definitely an issue, for the first one my left bumper broke pretty quickly (though I use it quite intensively). Now the second one has an issue where when I press the right trigger, at random intervals it just steers to the right on the left stick. Guess I'm sending Gambit another mail about the new issue. They were really chill about the first controller, so can't complain about their service!
Most people who reviewed the elite series 2 also said that it wasnt a reliable controller, they would say it would break after 3 to 4 months of use. Ive been using mine for over a year now, got no problems with it. Guess it comes down to personal experience.
hey Cuda, you're one of my (if not #1) my favorite reviewers on the Tube for consumer products. ----> This channel has no content that matched "jacket." Is the message i received after trying to search your video registry for any content dedicated (or highly referencing) to "jacket." Reason i looked, this might sound silly, but , i was hoping you made a video talking about your dope Red jacket and its significance to you personally since its been with you from the start of this channel. Hey maybe there's a backstory to this wonderful jacket. i dig your channel bro, personality is clutch too!
