It was said that, in those days that, Subhash Ghai is, to a large extent, responsible for the downfall of Panchamda in the late 80s. That man signed R.D. for his "Ram Lakhan" (a third rate version of evergreen "Deewaar"). Pancham was very excited by this. But one fine morning, Ghai dropped him unceremoniously (without even bothering to inform Panchamda) favouring his regular Laxmikant-Pyarelal. This shocked Pancham & he suffered a mild attack. It is indeed surprising that a music director, who had worked with stalwarts & big names like Nasir Hussain, Vijay Anand, Dev Anand, Ramesh Sippy, Shakti Samanta, Mehmood, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Hrishida & Gulzar should get affected by this act of an ordinary & over-rated film maker like Subhash Ghai. R.D. was & is far far more talented & genious than the average Ghai.

मुझे याद है परदेस movie जब आई थी तो पत्रकारों ने पूछा कि इस फिल्म के लिये नदीम श्रवण को क्यों चुना? अपने पसंदीदा लक्ष्मी प्यारे को क्यों नहीं? घई ने जवाब दिया था कि वो यानि लक्ष्मी-प्यारे भी मुझसे दूर होना चाहते होंगे. घई तब एक बड़ा नाम थे जिसे चाहते रख सकते थे जिसे चाहते निकाल सकते थे. वक्त एक जैसा नहीं रहता. वही घई आज गुमनाम हैं.

RD was not more disturbed by Ghai dropping him. He was more devastated coz LP didnt bother to inform them. The same LP whom he considered good friends...the same LP for whom he played the mouth organ in the film Dosti...that too free of charge.

Bahut se raaz khule , you were perfect in your findings , thanks Antara enjoyed the whole journey of panchamda , even my song writing journey could have been fascinated by Panchami as I too had enjoyed his songs since my childhood and as a lyricist I have written thousands of songs , which have yet not reached anywhere ,may be they be left unheard as a music director like Panchamji is no more who could have recognised my writings .but over all knew some new facts like betrayal of subash Ghai about him . @@MAU9820. The music of sanyasi might not be equal to the higher standards set by music maestros Shankar Jaikishan. But music of that movie was created by Shankar ji alone because Jaikishan ji died in 1970 or 1971 and that movie released in 1975. We must not forget that they were maestros simply because of their outstanding creations for movies based on varieties of subjects and that too for more than two decades. Suppose, the music of sanyasi was created by both Shankar Jaikishan, even then it was nothing else an exception as percentage of high standards of success was anazingly higher in their career graph

Agree 100% with you. Singing shows are praising RDB as if other better composers SJ, LP, Madan Mohan, Ravi , did not matter. And they're praising KK as if Rafi saheb, the bhagwan of singing did not matter. But those who understand beautiful voice and singing mastery of Rafi saheb, know better. I don’t understand why your headline says Betrayal of Subhash Ghai…..meaning he was betrayed….then the story you tell means Subhash Ghai was the betrayer!! Secondly, anyone who produces a film is doing so to make money…not to provide employment to anyone else.
