Thomas Cromwell, in the begining, you could say was friendly with Anne Boleyn. Or you could say that they were mutually beneficial to each other.
Cromwell knew that Henry wanted an out with Catherine of Aragon and that Anne, well she wanted to be Queen. So together they forged the path for Anne to take the throne. Anne recognised Cromwells potential and Cromwell knew that King Henry wanted Anne, so working together an alliance was born, not just united by political ambition, but the sharing of a reformist faith made the partnership more natural.
But time would show that their alliance was more of continuance than ideology. Although the pair shared a passion for reform, Anne disapproved of the way that Cromwell was diverting the dissolved monasteries’ wealth to the crown: she thought it ought to go to charitable causes. And Cromwell, Anne began to worry him , and Cromwell felt he needed to do something about it.
