I am glad you are messing with slog, I use the Sony a6300 myself. I like that you deter people away from the easy way of the basic correction tab and more towards the colorist way which gets a bit more technical and superior.
Wow! I've just tried this method on some HLG2 footage and it works a treat! In fact, using this method is the first time I have made my vlog footage (on another channel) look how I want it to. It adds a fair amount of saturation but I just dial that back a little. Thanks man!
When you say overexpose. Are you saying put your iso up to say 1600 instead of 800? What exactly do you change so it can be overexposed??? 2.8 is the lowest my lens goes and shutter speed is at 50. So I'm assuming bump ISO up???
Joo you should try shoot in HLG3 pp. it is the best pp profile for sony a7iii. You get really nice colors and a lot of dr without much noise in shadows.
I love the colors you produce and loved the work you did with the GH5 but one thing that really stops me from using your luts is that it really makes the pinkish part of the skin tones pop. You can see it in your videos where it looks like your wearing lipstick when you get to the computer. If I apply your luts on my video both me and my wife's lips get significantly darker and more saturated and looks unnatural. Also it makes Acne pop out more as those are generally in the pinkish skin color. It's fixable in post but curious your thoughts on that. I'm not saying this time critisize because the work you do is great. Just trying to improve a bit.

but what is the difference between shoot in slog and apply a LUT that makes the footage look... "normal", and just shoot with out a picture profile and make a color correction?
That is a good question. If the "normal" picture profiles would be any good. It would actually be a better idea to shoot with those when your codec is 8bit. But "normal" profiles in sonys are not that good
THIS LUT IS INSANE, THANK YOUUU. I just bought a Sony A7S and i was really frustrated when i tried to color grade S-LOG 2 :( haha (I used to color grade Canon footage). I would love a tutorial on how to do it from start to begging the color correction :D also, I will buy the LUT PACK tomorrow c:
What lens are u using in Bangkok? It just irks me to see that only one of you is in focus when both of you are standing at the same distance from the camera.

So you turned from GH5 to Sony Joonas? I jumped the other way, and are now working with GH5... Do you think the sony is superior in colors? or what are your first impressions?
@@JooWorks Great! Im really happy with my GH5, I never really got good colors out of my Sony (7R ll) well, they were fine, but crushed in the graduations. Hi Joo, i'm a newbie trying to work with a6300. I really like slog but i have a lot of problems working with it :( may i ask you some questions? 1) when shooting in low lights condition and you can't overexpose 2 stops, would you bring up your iso to get that "2 stops" overexpose? 2) Is slog suitable for lowlight? or cine4 will do it better? i watched a vid at MAKE.ART.NOW and he did a custom profile for low lights conditions? what do you think about that? 3) I'm using Sony 18-105 F4 oss, my footages weren't as sharp as i expected, compare to other footages using the same lens, i don't know if it because i was shooting in low lights? Thank you very much for your knowledge! I hope you can answer my questions.
1. To my understanding, it doesn't matter what profile one uses for low light in theory. Some profiles lift the shadows up showing the noise some crush the noise down, but it's still there all the time. BUT in practice I have noticed that S-log gives you alot of colour noise and bad details in shadows. :-/ 2. It's a profile that crushes the shadows down and making the image look clean. You can do that with other profiles as well, but maybe S-log isn't the best in practise for low light. 3. I don't know about that lense, but in practise to get sharp image, use small apparature & low iso with alot of light. :-/
Hey, I really like and enjoy the content you're uploading and creating. BUT there's the but why is always your colorgrade so saturated and contasry, like I get the fact people like contrast and as said in the many textbooks about filmmaking contrast makes a great image, still why not show us some other work and maybe some different ways of colorgrading and colorcorrecting.
