American sitcom (situation comedy) originally broadcast for nine seasons on CBS from 1962 to 1971. The series is about a poor backwoods family transplanted to Beverly Hills, California, after striking oil on their land. This video is the 1st (first) episode.
A rural Ozark family relocates to Beverly Hills after oil is discovered on their property worth $25 million. After finding oil on the land, the family is surprised when Mr. Brewster of the OK Oil Company offers to buy it. (The family home is set in the Branson, Missouri area.) After much coaxing by Cousin Pearl, Jed sells the swamp and moves the family to a mansion in Beverly Hills. Upon their arrival, they are arrested because of a case of mistaken identity but are later returned to the mansion safely.
Turner Classic Movies host, Robert Osborne appeared in the pilot episode, as Jeffrey Taylor.
The show starred:
Buddy Ebsen as Jed Clampett
Irene Ryan as Daisy May "Granny" Moses
Donna Douglas as Elly May Clampett
Max Baer Jr. as Jethro Bodine
Raymond Bailey as Milburn Drysdale
Nancy Kulp as Jane Hathaway

There isn’t a show that even comes close to touching this timeless classic, being in my 60’s watching this show and letting my mind wander back to the days of the late 60’s early 70’s and growing up with this show always being on when I got home from school

Why can't they make shows like these today? Love the characters and actors of these shows from the sixties

They were ALL GOOD back in that day. It's a shame you all didn't grow up with food wholesome shows like these. You missed a great time for TV. In the 1990's they am had a few good shows like "Home Improvement" but From there TV shows went downhill in quality

Always worth returning to! A TV show couched in anti-urban stereotypes and pseudo-Appalachian tropes? BH is beyond and outside 2020s politics -- these "hillbillies" are exemplary liberal humanists. Animal rights in the US got a big boost from "Ellie May." True enough, the actor who played Jed was a homophobe who off-screen said vicious bigoted nasty things about "Miss Jane." And Max Baer in particular suffered from being so typecast as studly-bo-hunk that he found it difficult to work after this show ended. But so many of this cast were / are stars in their own right that in its weird way it's as important/pioneering a show on par with anything by Norman Lear.
