@@KuldeepSingh-hv1tz Bible from Biblios means library a collection of books. The Bhagavad Gita is not a collection of books not a library it is one single book that explains all one needs to know about life, it was SPOKEN or rather Sung by BHAGAVAN SRI KṚṢṆA at the begining of creation of this universe and recited from memory through oral tradition of disciplic succession from Guru to Chela for millions years and due to the degeneration of humans at the beginning of KALI Yuga Bhagavan Sri KṚṢṆA recited the Bhagavad Gita again 5,000 plus years ago so that we would be able to read and Know the truth of life, it can not be compared to any other book. The Bhagavad Gita explains the essence of the VEDAS and the Srimad Bhagavatam reveals the essence of the essence of the VEDAS.... Surrender to BHAGAVAN SRI KṚṢṆA in loving devotion of eternal service.

Your perception of Bhagavad Gita is very impressive. I was told by my teacher that BG has tendency to give answers to the questions you seek. It isn't the answer (goal) that gives you perspective but the questions sought and the journey you take to find the answers. I saw your other video on Dharmapada. To understand it better, I recommend second yoga of BG - Sankhya Yoga. This chapter makes the very basis of the concept of "soul searching".

I learnt about the Bhagavad Gita from Robert "Father of the Atomic Bomb" Oppenheimer reflecting on the first atomic explosion. "A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Bhagavad Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi armed form and says "Now I have become death, the destroyer of worlds. I suppose we all felt that way one way or another" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lb13ynu3Iac.html I think this really captures the main theme of the Bhagavad Gita. Oppenheimer created the most destructive weapon so far that was used against people. He was motivated by a sense of duty to create such a device. He was also aware of the parallel between his work and the scripture.
@theblackponderer
@theblackponderer 9 лет назад
+Awsomedrifter Yes, quite an intense parallel. It must have been quite a struggle for those developers of the bomb to not allow the end result of their creation to stop them from working on it. The actual work of developing the bomb resulted in much technological advancement for our society, but it also came at the price of giving birth to unprecedented mass destruction. In the end, we're reaping the benefits (our current technology) and horrors (the existence of mass destructive weapons) of their work. I think the lesson of the Bhagavad Gita would make the case to embrace both the positives and negatives of the work done, acting with reason and harmony to make sure we don't end up on either extreme of the result.
@theblackponderer
@theblackponderer 9 лет назад
+Awsomedrifter Yeah, I'm talking more about the development of the scientific theory that was used later on to develop the bomb. While developing much of the theory, scientists understood that the theory could be used to make a bomb, but continued anyway on their pursuit to understand the nature of the universe. Scientists would later write letters to heads of state, requesting that their theories not be used toward military development. Much of those requests met deaf ears and those theories became the foundation of the atomic bomb, straying far from their original intent which was to understand the inner workings of the universe.

Excellent Black ponderer, for trying to seek the truth, our souls have no colour or creed, its pure spiritual energy, your flesh is as good as that of any other living person, yet we know how bad colour discrimination is practised and it is highly sickening. Indeed Bhagwat Gita is a holiest of all holy books as it is the word of the Divine Supreme God, which came many many thousands of years ago, way before any Bible or koran was written. It indeed is very true, is what God would have advised humans how to lead our life, but in today's world we don't find enough spare time to study and practice as other worldly affairs are distracting us so badly. Is there any wonder that Hindu maharishis go to secluded places away from hussle and bussle of modern life in order to obtain salvation , they who possess nothing material, are indeed richest as their soul is free from the clutches of material world. We have God telling us how he created this universe, how life exists on other planets, and that we (our soul) never dies, how we move from one body to another, but we also have within our ability to achieve salvation and free ourselves from the clutches of life and death,, Mahabharata war was about evil over good, no matter who is your friend or family, if they are evil, they should be eradicated, if it means killing them then so be it, evil has no place on earth. That is what the prime message of Krishna the God was. Not to take action against evil is inaction. Never be afraid to take action against those who are evil, even if it means you can lose your own life in this holy action. The difficulty of course is first one has to determine if someone is really being evil or just being unreasonable, and someone who is targeting you unreasonably, has to be evil if they cannot come to some peace terms .

To my understanding, Bhagavad Gita is the infinite ocean of knowledge of the universe. E=MC2. An atom equals the universe. Atma (Individual soul) equals Param-atma(cosmic soul). Soul is divine. Soul is the eternal life force, infinite energy, which can’t be created nor it can be destroyed, neither born nor died. Any form of body/matter is nothing but manifestation of this inner soul/energy. I decode the B.G like this - 2 opposite forces or negative & positive (duality) interact in the phenomenal world and harmonious equilibrium or system is established as Cosmic Dharma. When applied in human, the Negative is portrayed as Duryadhona (greed, lust, anger, Pride/ego). Positive - portrayed as Arjuna (truth seeker). Both r the two characters of human mind. The chariot is human body. 5 horses r 5 sense organs, Human mind functions through 5 sense organs. Lord Krishna, the Charioteer, is the Soul, the divinity. How the Divine Soul/Krishna enlightens the embarrassed Arjun in the field of attraction (battle) is what BG unfolds. Positive mind is friendly with soul. It respects n listens to the Soul. Negative mind is the enemy. It does not respect the soul, thus leads to hell. Time, space n causation/Law of Karma r the conditions of the phenomenal universe. The pure consciousness force of the universe (soul/Lord Krishna), which is the supreme energy is beyond time, space n causation. But the phenomenal universe (being manifested) is governed by Law of karma. Newton’s 3rd Law is d direct outcome of Law of Karma. Lord Krishna (the Personified Universal Force) is the silent observer and He rules everything through Law of karma, which is His principle. The force of material desire (attractive force of matters) is so strong that Arjun even fails to control his mind in d field of attraction/desires (kurukhetra). He got embarrassed to see his beloved ones. That means- he was swayed by the negative force despite his wisdom. The Lord Krishna (Soul) throws light of truth, Pure Consciousness Force to Arjuna. Law of Karma is the basis here. Bhakti Yoga (love, devotion n surrender) is the most effective path to spiritual seekers. Freedom N liberty is everybody’s right. We r free to choose any path. However, seeking the truth inward is d only way for experiencing the Absolute.

The Bhagavad Gita is a wonderful Holy Scripture. It is the source of knowledge of the whole universe. Thousands of Spiritual Gurus have given thousands of interpretations from many different angles. It unfolds the mysteries of life and cosmology. During 18 - 19 centuries, many renown scientists of the world drew their scientific laws from this Book. Newton's law of motion, the law of thermodynamics, theory of relativity, quantum theory, particle phsyics etc etc might have been drawn from this wonderful book, because it gives all the clues. If we decode the underlying meanings of the different characters in B.G. the whole principles and laws of the nature are unfolded. Of course, it gives solace and enlightenment to spiritual seekers. It gives everlasting peace to the turbulent mind. It acts as the only source of joy. It gives solutions to all human problems in the society. How the duality phenomena of nature (negative & positive) is symbolised through Duryadhon and Arjuna and interactions of these two forces of nature are regulated and governed by non-dual force (cosmic laws) which is symbolised as The Lord Krishna who is the ever-expanding "Absolute Consciousness" from which particles are created, living beings are created as His Lila. Is the Higgs Boson theory of particle physics at last coming to what Bhagavad Gita Says? ...................Oooh, its totally amazing. If we go deeper and deeper decoding every characters and the conversations leaving aside its textual/facial expression, it is speechless. It should be read & studied in every schools and colleges in the world.

How well does this apply to the lower casts. Should a slave find gratification in their labor? Should the vast lower casts not envy the inheritance of the higher casts. How one defines success depends on their relationship to society. A person at the bottom defines success by the daily grueling act of survival. At the top a person is too distant from the real world. Wars aren't inevitable they're started over greed by the ruling class, wars of conquest fought for slaves and serfs. On one end it tells the lower casts not to question their lot in life and on the other it offers justification for the aristocracy to commit horrors. If they will kill their family and enjoy the process they will care nothing for the lower casts that die in the name of conquest. The lower casts should find gratification in killing and being killed by one another in the name of their masters. This sounds a lot like what Nietzsche intended to step beyond, and as we know God is dead.
@theblackponderer
@theblackponderer 6 лет назад
Well, you can certainly take this particular Hindu philosophy toward that direction. You could likewise take Nietzschean philosophy toward that direction as well. As one approaches the overman status and transcends beyond the notions of good and evil, what then is the motivation to not achieve ones ends at the expense of others, to exploit others to become the overman? Any philosophy can be hijacked or "radicalized" to justify greed or exploitation. The key is to always incorporate compassion and kindness within your philosophical framework.
@postmodernityarmageddon
@postmodernityarmageddon 6 лет назад
The Black Ponderer I don't know if hijack is the right word when talking about the society whose ideals built the religion in the first place. When those ideas change the theory and understanding changes. That's not because it was hijacked it's because people are largely a product of their relationship to society. You've probably read Thomas Hobbes the Leviathan. At first glance it looks like a long and boring analysis of religion. One might begin to wonder what was great about the text until going back to read the religious theory that came before it. Now there is a evident distinction between the Leviathan and what came before. That distinction reveals exactly what Hobbes is doing, meticulously rewriting Christian Theory according to the development in the social order. Long before Hobbes the king had the right to rule by devine right. What Hobbes did of course was define this right as the property right. "As one inherits Cattle and the children of Cattle so the king inherits his subjects and the Kings child inherit the children of the Kings subjects. " That's also 'Real Politic' btw. What you've seen is the transformation of Feudal Jesus into Bourgeois Jesus. The Leviathan can't be read without seeing the development of capitalist Jesus. I wouldn't say that the religion was hijacked since religion follows a dialectic. Religion is always in transformation and it can be understood but it's process of transformation better than by what it actually is at one point in time. The same process occurs with postmodernism and a purely subjective way of understanding the world. You can't help but interpret previous theories from the postmodern perception of course religion has also been affected if you listen to and read commentary on religious theory today it reflects a purely subjective and hedonist Jesus according the ideology of the time
@theblackponderer
@theblackponderer 6 лет назад
I actually made a video on Leviathan. Check it out at your leisure. I think in many cases hijack is the appropriate word. This is because in many cases, rulers in power do not actually adopt the philosophy of the religion they claim to be a part of. For example, many kings who used Christianity as part of their establishment did not rule using the actual philosophy of Jesus Christ. Rather, they built/maintained an institution using Jesus Christ as a symbol of power sustained by exclusion and fear. The actual tenets which Christ taught, such as do unto others as you would have them do unto you, are not even part of king's ruling methodology. In this way the king doesn't truly believe in the Christian doctrine, but is simply using it to maintain his power, hence hijacking.
@postmodernityarmageddon
@postmodernityarmageddon 6 лет назад
The Black Ponderer I see what you're saying though I'd also add your cynicism is a product of the postmodern ideology which denies the genuine ideological belief and reduces zeitgeist to disconnected randomness so that for instance the development of bourgeois class conscious as the bourgeoisie themselves develop into a class with their particular relationship to society and class interests and this development of bourgeois class conscious leads to a general change in ideology which then naturally affects their relationship and interpretation of religion; all of this in postmodernism is stripped of its historical and dialectic connection so everyone is forced to be ironic about everything, and this process becomes one person intentionally hijacking religion to serve a selfish end. We are all effected by the spirit of our time. The cynic will say George Bush was an atheist who used religion to serve his family's ends. The reality is that Bush was a genuine believer who understood religion based on his own life experience, his own relationship to society. Ideology is a fantasy superimposed on the material. Even the cynic genuinely believes in their cynicism. I'll check the leviathan video out later. Thanks. These are good videos. I still think you should read Lenin. You remarked how you liked that Marx was grounded in Materialism. All socialism is theory grounded in practice
@theblackponderer
@theblackponderer 6 лет назад
Yeah, I think ultimately we have a fundamental disagreement. You may call it cynicism based on postmodernism but to me it's a lot more straight forward than that. If you say you're a Christian and Christianity preaches not to cast judgement on anyone ("...he who is without sin cast the first stone," - John 8:7) yet you still cast judgement then ultimately you are a Christian not correctly practicing Christianity. Likewise, if you say you're a Hindu and the Bhagavad Gita, a fundamental Hindu text, teaches that violence is necessary only as a defensive act, yet you use violence offensively for war to maintain socioeconomic power, then you are a Hindu incorrectly practicing Hinduism. It's like saying you're a mathematician and claiming that 1 + 1 = 3. At a certain point you have to call people out on their misunderstandings or incorrect practicing and use the core teachings as the foundation of your actions.

One of the great triumphs of the American journalists has been the legend that organized crime is Italian, a group of Sicilian hoods. In reality, the boss of the Mafia is the Jay, Meyer Lansky, and the Sicilians are only the enforcement arm of the Syndicate, which is sixty per cent J's. In the early 1920s, crime consisted of small groups of nose people, Italian and Irish gangsters in the cities of New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia. The Italians began a war of extermination against the Irish hoods, and killed off most of them. Public opinion was aroused by these gangland massacres, and Meyer Lansky called in the Sicilians, persuaded them to form a business combine, and used them as a collection agency for the Pinnochio bookmakers, while Lansky and his Gonzo henchman, Longie Zwillman, ran the national Syndicate. Moe Annenberg handled all communications for the Syndicate. The Mafia has also been the political enforcement arm for the Democratic Party. It was the Sicilian gangsters who delivered the Chicago vote for John F. Kennedy and swung the close election to the Democrats in 1960. Soon afterwards, the Dept. of Justice began a frantic effort to convince the American public that the Syndicate was Italian, through the revelations of a smalltime hoodlum named Joseph Valachi. Since anyone who knew anything about crime knew that sixty per cent of the Syndicate was Aliens, this frenetic effort was largely wasted. Lansky is still the Boss of the Syndicate. I am not sure kalyuga has passed. "kalki" last "avtaaar" of "vishnu" will end kalyuga.

Many of the quotes you quoted, and then afterwards the examples you drew were very poorly.

Nope. If you are going to quote a god, you first have to show that god even exists. After you have shown it/they exist/s (which no one has) then you have all your work ahead of you to show why humans should care.

Nah, I'm not required to show anything. If you don't care about what I'm saying, fine. This video is for people who do care.

@@theblackponderer I obviously care. That is why I am pointing out the problems inherent in texts that make unfalsifiable assertions, as do all religious texts. I will also point out that people who just nod their head when nonsensical claims are made don't, in fact, care.

@@onecardshort2934 Jesus said he is the son of God. That is a nonsensical claim that I nod my head to. And yet, I do care deeply about this claim.

@@theblackponderer There is no credible reason to believe anything in the bible, substantial reason to doubt most of it, and very good evidence that completely refutes quite a lot of it. Same for the Bagavad Ghita, Tibetan Book of the Dead, the Tao, Dianetics, The Book of Mormon, Linda Goodman's Sun Signs, etc.

@@theblackponderer Additionally, the xian religion in particular stands on the assumption that all mankind is irredeemably evil and that the only way that a fraction of us can escape eternal punishment is a black magic human sacrifice to a primitive human hating genocidal god creature.
