U could use multiple wheels, each one having one tone, or maybe two tones, and use them like you would use a bell. Its like tremolo on pan flute.

What a great loud FX

This sound reminds me of the haunting alerting signature tone of Radio France in exile, as broadcast from London, during WWII. All you would need is the accompanying timpani beats from Beethoven's Fifth and it would sound fairly convincing.

Your blow pipe drooled!!! Yuck!

Not enough back-pressure on the blow pipe, flatten the end into a slot of air. You run out of air too soon. It will make better louder sounds. Center post needed so no wobble. Make stoppers in the bottoms movable and setup a tune sequence that way. Even before Moog sample and hold, Raymond Scott did this with photo cells and a wheel. In the TV advert the sounds play fast , it's our good battery. In the second scene it play slower, that's our competitor's weak battery trying to start your car on a cold day. Early '60's I remember the ad. He gave us "bug music". There wouldn't have been the cantina band.
