I used to go down here with my uncles when I was a kid and we would fish off of the hand rail at the sidewalk. They would fix a rod with only a hook and worms on it then throw it out to where it would drift back into the 2nd hole while the water was running. I saw them catch a ton of catfish out of that hole like that.
Mid-August I'm coming down to Chattanooga for 6-8 weeks of refractory work. We were there earlier this year too all my off time was spent shore fishing. Best I came up with was 8lb flathead. I might have to give you my money to put me on some real cats lol
When I anchor/spot lock, I use the Okuma Battle Cat rod paired with the Okuma Classic Pro XP Levelwind reel. For light tackle, I use ugly stiks paired with the Okuma ITX spinning reel
