He is definitely a skilled hunter but he is absolutely a poacher/ trespasser. He killed quite a few of these deer at night with a light shined in their eyes and most of them he just cut their heads off and left the rest to rot. That’s not a hunter. That being said I enjoyed his stories.

He's a poacher....but I understand how it works in Texas with mostly inaccessible unhuntable land unless u can shell out the cash. Just a shame how it is down their I don't know how anyone without land or connection gets into hunting.

Love hearing these stories, reminds me of some of the old outlaw Florida hunters I grew up hearing about. Just the descriptions of the terrain puts you right there with him. Imagine the vastness of that property and some of the bucks that were never even seen. “It’s a wonderland, there’s nothin like it.” Legal or not, you feel the man’s passion for what he was doing.

@@terpdawg in my state we have no want and waste law. You have to tag your harvest but you are not required to take the carcass at all. Personally I enjoy venison and all the wild game I harvest. But the meat of deer left in the woods does not go to waste. Ask the predator hunters how many of their animals they eat. Not to many coyotes being consumed. A poacher to me hunts for financial gain. The market hunters our forefathers were the poachers. Bet you have never broken a game law at all.

We All understand all the wrong doing that was poached upon. The heart and desire he had for what he did was nothing short of Amazing. 99% of the hunters and non hunters commenting couldnt hang with Beaty in the woods. He litterally ate, sleep, and brethe with these bucks. Staying as much as 27days in the brush country is 1 hard ass individual!!! We as hunter sit on all day hunt during rut in our stands and call that hunting. Just remember Beaty would still be on foot fully loaded packs and guns walking 20 plus miles to setup camp. I dont care what side the fence you're on or hows hes viewed good bad or in different. His stories are hard to imagine just the survival aspect, let alone outrunning the law foot, hoof and air. He might be a successful hunter, good poacher, good story teller, or have an interesting book - but he's no damn prince. Anyone that kills deer just for the heads and let them lay... that is nothing to brag about or be proud of. I see this guy coming up on my feed all the time now, since I watched him once. Funny how people idolize and romanticize it so fast. It's true... he probably didn't really hurt anyone. Those ranches are so vast... the owners, staff, and hunters likely didn't notice the difference as far as deer numbers go. Big bucks go off the radar all the time, all by themselves. But I can't get past wasting the meat. That's complete disregard and disrespect for the resource. Big whitetail bucks are too majestic, too smart, too rare for the average person,, and too precious a resource to be treated this way. This is really no different than the pigs who exterminated the buffalo, took their skins for money, and left them to rot on the prairie. The Native American's couldn't fathom it. Neither can I. I've spent my life hunting as my primary passion. Once you're onto the skill, and get yourself into the midst of a massive population of big whitetail that are rutting - killing them wouldn't be that hard. Especially when you can devote your entire life to it (days, weeks, even a month). That doesn't make you a "great hunter." What it makes you is ballsy, and willing to take the risk. No doubt - he was passionate and full of desire, and worked hard at it - but in my opinion, that desire was misplaced. You claim that you're a reformed Christian? Now time to get some humility, and quit profiting from this. That said, if you had eaten all the meat, I wouldn't even be writing this. You people can glorify this dude if you want. I'm not.

@randolphbehm877 2 года назад
@@Southernoutlaw86 a.22 rim fire case has very little volume area. The primer charge alone in that tiny area is enough to build a consistent pressure to expel the tiny bullet from the barrel. In a deer rifle size case the area is many times larger then the rim fire. The primer alone will not build enough pressure to push the bullet out of a barrel in most cases. And a 1/4” of powder is as good as no powder in most situations. Rifle powder likes to be mostly full to ignite properly. I’m not saying it’s impossible. But I find it hard to believe he would have any consistency to zero in a load let alone how poor the bullet performance would be.

@@Southernoutlaw86 they are called cb caps. And it is a totally different scenario than 7mm-08. I have no doubt that he had someone hand load him some light loads. But I would bet they are no where near as low as he described.
