I met Luke only once though we traveled in similar circles in High School. Met him at a party. He was cool then and he’s very cool now. The man not only has chops big time, he is fun and HUMBLE. I live in the east now but would love to get with him again sometime. Guitar genius in the building.
Luke, my first guitar video lessons back in the day. Still have original copy. Priceless, this cat can play sing 🎶. And shred it if need be. Where has the time gone...Toto gr8 👍 band gr8 Musicianship and Music!!
I am so tired of the "not the original line-up" debate. Toto nor most bands try to hide that fact. If you want to go to show it's very easy today to look up which the members are. If it's not to your liking for some reason? Stay home and go see some other show at a later point. Most classic bands have had many line-up changes.. Whitesnake, Journey, Def Leppard, Metallica, Deep Purple, Toto, Foreigner, Blue Öyster Cult, The Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Wishbone Ash and The Who. What new band can compete with them in their area of music? I would say very few or else these bands would been forgotten a long time ago. The songs are still there and people want to see it live. I never expected a band I've seen that I know hasn't the same members as in the 1970's, 1980' or 1990's to sound a certain way. Soon enough these bands won't be able to tour at all (most are getting up their in age). Just enjoy it for what it is.
Oh, Steve.....your work on "She's a Beauty", by the Tubes........just BEYOND........your band Toto should ever lower yourselves to the RRHOM....... that is beneath you.....and your talent.....
Steve’s one in a million. Incredible singer, incredible writer, generous with his time/insight… and also probably one of the best guitarists of all time. Great interview
Met STEVE Lukather in A Restaurant in North Hollywood CA In 2014. Great Great Guy. Told Him I Was A Big Fan Of Toto. So Bad I Didn't Have My Toto CD's With Me. Wanted His Autograph.
Love your interviews John. The thing with Luke is, you gotta just sit back and let him talk. You could interview him all day, for HOURS, and it still wouldn’t be enough. The best part is when Luke says he’s had a “love hate relationship” with his voice and you say “Really?? That’s crazy!” So crazy!
Steve, No one wipes the floor with you! Why are you so self deprecating? You are the best and a kind person. What a wonder career. I’m for ever your greatest fan!
Can’t believe he has a “love / hate” relationship with his voice. He’s personally my fav of all the Toto vocalists, taking nothing from the other guys. I LOVE Luke’s voice!!
Thanks for another great interview with Steve Lukather. Luke is a underrated guitar player . As far as I'm concerned he's up there with the best of them
I never heard anyone say they thought that you were just doing this for the money. I think people respect you a hell of a lot more than that. This was a tough time and people were really needing live music and they were really needing to just merge into the wonderful world of rock and roll again
Toto is the greatest band, that ever was......better than the Beatles, or the Stones......Lukather, the best musician ever, living or dead....."I Will Remember", magic......only other guitarist? ......Mark Knoffler........different style.....but still great....
I miss Steve lukather says something nice and beautiful about the best singer in toto ever and in this whole world Bobby kimball miss you man Love from Mik Roy from Denmark
PLEASE COME TO THE MIDWEST!!!!!!!!! I love Steve Lukather . I am a old 58 year old football coach/ History teacher. If you come into my classroom, every student knows the question "who is the world's greatest guitarist". They know the live solo of Caught in the Balance by heart. Please come close!!!!
