I hope my simulations will educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards and create more curiosity about Earth Science in general. I do also hope that my videos will inspire a future generation of amazing architects, engineers and scientists! We all need to peacefully work together to make this world a better place. :)
My goal is to show people around the world the effects of different earthquake shaking levels on various buildings and structures.

open.spotify.c... ) are part of my lifelong project called "In Terra Pax" that aims to bring financial and emotional support to victims affected by earthquakes around the world.

Because hollywood does 2 sec shaking and reality can be up to 6 minutes. And not always the biggest buildings fail but the smaller because of resinance frequancy

It's not all the buildings falling over that i worry of. It's all the poor engineers and workers who will have to spend an eternity inspecting structural integrity

Well I live in Santa Monica and work in downtown LA. Not worried as our building is built to latest California earthquake standards. Not worried about what Hollywood thinks only what actual structural engineers think! I like my chances whether at home-also built to code, the office, or in my shelter with a month’s supply of food and water!

Hollywood logic: Earthquake so strong skyscrapers using state of the art architecture collapse killing thousands, but the main character with the glass of water vibrating knew what was coming so they survived

Thankfully the bank tower was built without a single nail or screw so it just disintegrated when it fell on the other building

The only reason why they make the US Bank Tower collapse in Hollywood disaster movies is because they do it as a show of symbolism (and because they want to test their brand new physics engine since they almost always work with fancy CGI)

Can you do a video of material comparison with "Steel", "Wood", "Concrete" and "AAC Blocks", please. AAC blocks, which use advanced materials and engineering techniques, provide better seismic performance than normal concrete blocks during earthquakes of higher magnitude. AAC blocks are more reliable and safer than traditional building materials. AAC blocks are earthquake resistant because they are light in weight.

I have a question, do all "rich cities" have buildings that can withstand strong earthquakes?

Not really. During the 6.3 quake that hit Christchurch, Nee Zealand in 2011, one the tall buildings in the city collapsed and is where most of the 170 fatalities happened. New Zealand of course is a rich first world country and yet buildings collapsed during the Christchurch quake and resulted in a high number of fatalities, which is something you generally don't expect to see in wealthy developed countries.

not all, its like maybe tokyo because literally the whole of japan's buildings are THAT resistant to earthquakes. take a look at the footage of 9.1 great east japan earthquake. NOT A SINGLE BUILDING COLLAPSED BEFORE THE TSUNAMI CAME

They'll have some buildings that can, but most likely it'll be newer ones. Older buildings can be retrofitted, but that takes time and resources. In Christchurch, I don't think they'd had a quake that strong since before the city was as high built as it is now.
