Another beautifully shot and inspirational video that really captures the spirit of fishing we all share. Also, lots of coffee drinking and the fish go back unharmed. Perfect. Thank you.
What a great bit of fishing and friendship, i am from Scotland and currently work in Saudi Arabia, how i do miss my fly fishing, this video brought a smile to my face.
Good evening Men of Men!! What a Stunning Performance from Both Anglers! Such beautiful fish, and two experienced Anglers!! You both deserved The Whisky. @@CarpeDiemFlyfishing Thanks for reply.Always liked your films.Last footage looked on film like a short hook link.Just the way it filmed I guess.Happy days.
Is it true that the further away a fish is, the bigger it is? Arctic char, Brook Trout, and Lake trout are all so similar, it's obvious all three are remnants of the last glaciation, and not 'trout' at all. All three are char.
Arctic char aren't well fished for in Scotland, but we have over 200 lochs that has them, I'd love to catch them next year, what tactics do u use for them ? What type of flies ?
In this particular lake it's all about caddis and since we like to use dry flies we use cdc &elk, elkhair caddis, streaking caddis etc and a few floating caddis emergers. You can get them on streamers as well of course if that's your melody. Try a regular mickey finn or something like that. Cheers
@@CarpeDiemFlyfishing cheers, char fly fishing isn't popular so not alot of information on it in Scotland so thought this would be the best place to ask :)
Hey guys! Im planing to go to Sweden this summer and i wanted to ask you about what rod should i use? This is a first for me so im deciding between orvis recon (mod to fast action) 9’ 6wt / helios 3d 9’ 6wt (fast action) or hardy’s ultralite 9’6 7 wt (mod to fast action) rods? And a 5-7 wt reel. What would you pick? As you/this video inspired this trip it would be a blessing if you could give me your opinion on what rod should i use? Cheers! Sending lots of love 🫶🏽
For allround fishing in the Swedish Lapland (using dry flies) we normally go for a 4wt rod. Personally I like the old Winston rods which are pretty soft. For the fishing in this video (which isn't the average sized arctic char) we use 6wt rods and bigger dry flies (caddis). I would go for the recon plus a 4wt rod. Cheers
Could you give me the recipe for that buggy fly with the rubber leg…… love to try that one here in Ireland. Magical video by the way. The vibe between the anglers is fantastic. Great friends, great place and wonderful fishing. Cheers Dave from ireland
I really don't know the recipe for that fly I'm afraid. Think it was Paul's fly. I guess you have to watch the picture here and try to come up with something similar. Sorry Dave. Cheers
Thanks for your reply. Luckily I’m heading up near the Kiruna area at the end of the summer, mid July, and I’m really looking forward to that. No heli rides planned. Are there any easily accessible waters in that area without trekking to far?? It’s about time for a new carpe diem video………… it’s been a while Love your film, they are inspirational Cheers from Ireland Dave
We live in the south of Sweden and have only done heli rides in the area up north. The best places are probably not reachable without hiking or heli riding. Not sure though. Try to contact someone up there and see if they can help you. Cheers@@davemedlyn071
@@CarpeDiemFlyfishing Yeh really good stuff, I have the guideline LPS euro and dry rod and just recently bought the elevation 9.9ft 7w 😁 can't wait to do more videos on them
I am so addicted to sweden, especially lapland and those chars are beautiful! Can you give me a rough hint in which areas i have to go to find lakes like these? Would very much appreciate it.
Most of these waters are very hard to reach by foot. I would recommend contacting some of the helicopter services in northern Sweden (there are a few, easily found by a quick search) and ask them for a recommendation. They know all the waters and can take you to places like this. Cheers
A dream of a fishing day. The solitude of the landscape, the red coloured fish fighting hard and working into the backing líne...what a beautiful video...a pleasant relaxing music and the soft light of a cloudy windless day... a very quiet zen experience... a nice cup of freshly made coffee drunk by the fire on a fishing talk with a friend..the beautiful flowers...that moose running uphill...a dream, definitely, for us Nature lovers.
Beautiful, the footage, photos, the country and the friendship that you two share. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us. Blessings to you both.
Epic chars, just beautiful. Are there also smaller ones which you didnt show or is the lake just full of these monsters? xD Tight lines from switzerland!
Thanks. Appreciate it :) Actually, this particular lake mainly hold very big fish. There's a natural balance with not too many fish but very big. We caught very few smaller fish. It's a very delicate system though so if you start picking the big fish up there will eventually be lots of fish in the lake but small. Therefore we never kill any of these beautiful animals. Cheers from Sweden
@@CarpeDiemFlyfishing no doubt about that, amazing lake! I couldnt ever kill such a beautiful big char, dont worry😉 actually i will be in sorsele for 3 weeks next summer, if covid allows it. Do you guys know the sorsele area? Is there also a chance for such big red chars?🤩
@@FinesseFishing I haven't fished in that area but a quick search shows that it looks really nice and with a good chance on catching big char :) Tight lines
@18:29 I haven’t the slightest clue what words you were using right here, but I know “exactly” what you were saying. If that makes any sense. Really outstanding video, and thank you for sharing it with us all!
Another standard setting video and those Char are magnificent! I think you guys would appreciate the Big Browns I catch in the Scottish Highlands . . . . Please check out my channel 👍
hello guys really good video, good lake and the best fish..exceptional fighter. I have the opportunity to hunt arctic char in Montenegro, in the Biogradska gora national park, but not for such pieces. do you fish exclusively with flies or do you use other baits as well. I mostly hunt for spoons???
Hi Guys What a amazing movie! We Go up there this Summer.. Can’t wait to cast for Chars 😉 Stay Healthy in this Strange times. Best Regards from Switzerland
This is my favourite youtube channel. No free cool insta lumberjack gansta hippsters but real guys from real life. Peaceful and nice videos with good fish, relaxing and joy of fishing . Thanks.
That’s one buggy looking pupa fly is that rubber leg being used as a sighter if so thats pretty dam clever This is why I fly fish the way you turn into a kid again when that line comes tight and the reel starts to sing you just can’t help but smile and yell out with excitement it never gets old great work guys
I love the pace of your films, it reflects the emotions of our sport so perfectly. The colours and beauty of those char is utterly incredible and to see the backing peel off the reel for so long is something I wouldn't have expected. Another gem of a film, so thanks for all the hours of editing and hard work!
Brilliant scarlet, blue halo spots all off set by white-tipped fins. Char are really beautiful fish. Way too pretty to kill. God meant for man to eat bushes anyway.
