I think your right Tekking. If the Medusa was revealed to the worlds state before the petrification there would be infighting on how the Medusa will be used. Creating a common goal for everyone on Earth could create intelligent life to live forever.
@@darknesswave100 Yep especially because you would wake up, Fully healed from whatever aled you when you went under, You wouldn't have need any special medical supplies supplies and equipment to monitor your bioscience and keep you alive during the process. The only real problem is going to be food to sustain you when you wake up. I'm guessing maybe year rotation shifts for the crew maintaining some kind of massive garden of Eden inside the ship.
well, there enlies a problem. nothing lasts forever. someone at some point will fuck it up, either intentionally or by accident. its just the way of free will and thats what you have to come to accept. without it, we aren't human.

I don't know exactly what I was expecting but figured it would be an AI or some kind of technological self-aware being and thought the reveal was ok but these following chapters hopefully put a lot more in perspective for me
Fun fact you missed in the chapter is someone mentions the voice the Medusa is making is still Senku's (the fabricated one they used to try and petrify everything). So technically speaking it is robot senku

I am Ultimately glad they didn't just pull the "evil AI that wants to destroy humanity for the sake of peace on Earth" trope, negotiating with the Medusas was not a direction I was expecting and I'm glad Inagaki and Boichi can continue to surprise me in satisfying ways
The Medusa's "plan" is pretty dumb; or at least not thought through fully. I feel it's a lot like Jigsaw's plan to make people "stronger" by surviving his death traps. Like all you have to do is cut off your hand and you'll live. It's so simple- except for all other factors like blood loss and pain etc.
To be fair in Jigsaw the whole point is you're not supposed to side with him, sure you can understand his motives but it's very clear he's portrayed as a deranged murderer who uses "the greater good" as a cover for his crimes
The Medusa kind of remind me of The Geth of Mass Effect, they share a “hive” mind made of individual “programs” to reach consensus. One Geth unit developed a personality after years of separation from the Main Group.
I dont get why xeno thought the medusas would help humans evolve, when the medusas petrified the planet, everything was reset, if senku and xeno didnt exist humanity would be fucked, im so confused with this chapter, hope everything gets explained
I think what Xeno was referring to was that potential use of the Medusa's ability to create a means of immortality. He's thinking of the symbiotic relationship they can provide to spur humanity to greater heights to reach that ultimate goal of everlasting life. The machines wanted humanity to reach a point where they could effectively make use of its features. At least that's my interpretation, the backstory will probably provide better explanation.
@@KatsuImagitian i see, still dont get why the medusas did that first wave of petrification, if their goal was to have humanity reach a point where they could use the medusas, maybe it thought that it wasnt a good idea to hand basically the power of imortality to the current humanity, as the top people in humanity would probably want to keep it for themselves? This is probably gonna be explained in the next chapter since the capsule medusa is gonna start sharing info

It seems like the Medusa wanted to reset things so those who were able to not only escape the petrification but to come find them were the ones who would be almost worthy to help humanity evolve further since they wouldn't be the power hungry assholes from the world before things were petrified

We all I expected it had be some form of AI. I was surprised by the fact that every individual Medusa was actually an individual AI that was working to petrify humanity. But now is working to keep itself sustained allowing these negotiations to work at all.
I'd love to hear your take on a "What if Geco Moria beat Kaido in their war/rivalry?" As for this video, the reveal was very surprising. I don't hate it, I think its a bit neat. But I need the full explanation from next chapter before I have a final opinion.
If young Moria actually managed to beat Kaido in Wano he would defenetly loot as many shadows as he could out of the losers. Meaning we'd at least get Zombie Kaido, King and Queen. And he'd probably still steal Ryuma's corpse, but i bet that this time Brook's shadow is not the one he'd put in it. Plus there's the whole factor of Oden and the other Samurai still being alive and kicking at the time.

Assuming Kaido managed to flee on his own like the Onionguy, imagine before Marineford, the Straw Hats meet the Ex-Yonkou Kaido, now just for the status a Warlord, but still does the Joyboy-Gatekeeping thing, Thriller Bark - Florian Triangle like. And later the mysterious Moria Guy would want to come to Marineford, but we don't get any reason why he would wanna come (just to pick up powerful corpses - nothing really more). And like you said, Moria as an Antagonist in Wano would had so much potential, every fallen Samurai becomes a Warrior for him fighting his old allies. Ripping Shadows out of crippled fathers and putting it in their dead sons samurai body, laughing with Orochi about this kind of stuff. Not to mention that he could use the fried body of Oden or the bodies of the Daimyo friends of yamato. - Didn't Oden ultimately lose because Old Hag Higurashi waited for the perfect moment to play the Momo-Card? I think Moria would have loved that old hag and Odens defeat would stay the same. All because of Kanjuro being a traitor.
I think an important thing to consider in figuring out why they did it is why they picked that time period to do so. Given that its pretty implied that the Medusa have been around for a very long time they could have done this far sooner than they have. My theory is that the Medusa concluded that, given the current path of our civilization we would kill the planet via pollution and global warming before we could figure out solutions and apply them. Petrifying everyone for 3000 years would give the world more than enough time to recover, and after which the people that woke up would be able to start from a high enough tech level to avoid causing the same death spiral. The only issues with this theory is that it doesn't explain why they continue to broadcast the signal and if they knew only a few would wake up, rather than everyone.
You could also take it with the concept the day the earth stood still. Maybe planets with life are really rare and they saw humanity had no hope to get out of the death spiral and gave up on them learning from their mistakes. So they choose to remove them from the planet, and by only freezing humans in theory given long enough another sentient species might of arised. Also possible they saw that humanity was getting closer to interstellar travel and deemed them unworthy and grounded them essentially, which explains why they kept freezing them over and over.
The International space station crew could have thrown off the Medusa's. If all humans are petrified the Medusa may have had parameters to de-petrify after an amount of time. However the crew returned to earth and created a small stable population, now not all humans were petrified as the Medusa designed and it saw no reason to act on the entire population. Treasure island could have been a scouting attempt by the devices.
My thought on the Medusa's is they might be like the Geth from Mass Effect. Each one is an individual entity, but is very limited in how much data processing power it has. But as more and more discrete units come together in a single network, they get smarter and better able to process things the more there are. So the one in the capsule might not have been smart enough to do anything till it got close enough to the main body of them to link up.
Not really a hive mind, but more like a school of fish or a flock of songbirds. They are all individuals who make their own choices and have their own wants, but when all together in a large group they become more unified in actions and ideas, like how a school of fish all turn in one direction when only one or a few turn to being with, all trying to stay together to be protected. As like a herd of cattle or something.
For some reason I don't have strong feelings about the reveal. It's just something so unusual for a shonen manga that all I want to see is the why behind this. Often shonen gives us an epic antagonist buy this more chaotic neutral force is difficult to even feel something negative towards
Same. I was expecting too much of a "OMFG?!" reveal (Senku from the future, or Senku from a different timeline was my original hypothesis) so Why-man being the Medusas themselves was kind of "Eh? Alright then...."

Each person can also have a revival fluid bracelet, or they can simply wait until someone else shows up and depetrifies them. Symbiotic relationship. As the population grows we build more medusas to accommodate new people.
Another question is why these devices OBEYED humans when they recieved the order "x meters y seconds", every single time? Like I guess if they really wanted to advance humanity as intelligent beings, then they allowed these orders so that humans could practice and learn about alien tecnology. On the other side the devices were willingly sacrificing their battery every time, so that means they cannot control their trigger, just like when they tricked Kohaku into activating themself. Also we know that everyone learnt the location of why-man because they were constantly sending a message from the moon, but it wasn't enough to actually activate the medusas on earth, or maybe my statements are totally wrong and they CHOOSE to not trigger themself and ignoring the order.
Interesting, though I'm quite sure the temptation of personal immortality isn't something that Senku will be interested in very much. He acknowledged already that science progresses due to the accumulated knowledge from one great mind to the next, with newer generations offering fresh perspective to build upon what came before them. Science can develop, immortality or no immortality, and can even be revived in a pure Stone World simply due to human's natural inquisitiveness.
Hey Matt we actually have an example of what happens if everyone gets together to work on one project. We came up with a vaccine for covid-19 in about a year. That was a really big deal.
What if we go with Enders game twist that Why-man's objective was lost in translation because how humans work differently than Medusas, like we aren't able to communicate when we are petrified? Maybe they were thinking that we are "naturally" able to communicate through radio waves or at least we had technology to do that, similarly to them? Maybe "LTE network"/"4G" were enough for them to think we are advanced enough? And still lunar landing site was suspiciously close to Why-man, maybe something/humans on earth unintentionally triggered petrification of the world.
I know it doesn’t fit into this narrative at all and there’s no room for it in the story at this point, but one sci-fi element I liked in Ring World was that, while the rules and limits of science never changes, different civilizations starting from the same point can develop different paths of technology which may be similar at first but almost like a evolutionary deviation the end result is so wildly different it becomes incompatible with different forms of advanced technology. So let’s say the Medusa machines were like the peak of biological based technology, it would have been cool to see other devices which are incompatible with one another and therefore can never work hand in hand together but have wildly different, almost godly capabilities. In Ringworld the two forms of peak technology presented were transmutation vs faster than light speed travel.

Honestly I'd love to see if the Medusa from earth had actually adopted negative (and maybe some positive🤷🏾♂️) traits from its experiences on earth and its thoughts and feelings from it directly observing humans And maybe it now differs (personality wise) from the other madusas because of its existences on earth
I think that the medusas have a similar ideology as tusaka originally did, where technology is evil and they prettify planets who reach a certain level of tech
After rewatching this video and knowing how the manga ended, I hope you make a final "conclusion" video for Dr. Stone. Like, something we can just relax and share our thoughts with. "Man... What a great/terrible ending." And then leave it as that.

I agree that there must have been some sort of plot changes midway because some things just doesnt make sense. Petrifying the whole human population is indeed a stupid plan, and whats with the bird petrifications early on?
I think the idea is that the Medusa devices aren’t supposed to affect the whole planet at once. Or at least, that’s what Xeno is proposing. If the Medusas only affect a small region of the planet, like, say a country, then the rest of the planet can study the victims, figure out a cure, deduce the effects and potential benefits of being petrified, etc.

I didn't realize until later in the chapter that the medusa was why man. I kept asking myself who is talking through the medusa, then I was like "Oh shit" and started the chapter from the beginning.
The one thing i kept thinking was. How tf had this man lived for 3700 years? Did he populate the Moon? Is there a group dedicated to continuously petrifying the humans on earth from the Moon? I knew it wouldn't be anything completely supernatural because that would ruin the way Dr.Stones story has been told from the beginning. I figured it had to be a computer program of some sort. But i DID NOT expect the fucking AI apocalypse.
