In April 2024 Simon and Dad spent a few days in Wales visiting several heritage railways. In Part 1 you can join us for a ride on the Llangollen Railway. We rode behind/inside both steam and diesel traction and had a really excellent day out.

Wow Simon, the llangollen railway is a lovely line. Particularly berwyn station which has been built on a viaduct which is very unique. Lucky you had the chance to travel on a wedding special especially with 3802 at the front and riding a dmu to berwyn. The red lever you mentioned that was in the cab, I think it is something to do with the braking system but I'm not too sure of its function. A funny thing happened when I was on the train to Swinburn university today. I accidently took the wrong train by mistake! So I ended up missing my stop and getting off two stations down at Camberwell. Luckily the station staff were able to help me get back on track again, and I manage to get back to glenferrie just before class began. It goes to show that even railway enthusiasts can sometimes make mistakes. Fairdinkum! Can't wait to see the next welsh trip video. Keep your steam up Simon. Cheers Kevig

What's pretty funny about Welsh steam railways is that the Llangollen Railway is the only Standard-Gauge line,the rest of them are all narrow gauge. I'm not saying it's a bad thing,I'm just saying.

I know, right! The next 3 parts in this series are all narrow gauge, and we are really hoping to go back next year and visit some of the other ones. There are so many narrow-gauge railways in Wales, most of them former slate quarry railways. Thanks for watching.
