Bonjour Ana ! Ça va? Як там Олег? Jon Krakauer yes 🙌 and I am buying Pickhart’s book for sure. I am flying tomorrow across the country for my Uncle’s funeral. I am trying to finish a 650 page book tonight. I had Ehrlich’s book in French a few years back. It was an old edition (the book was published in 1986) but I haven’t kept it. Curious about it now that Penguin has published it again. It was good to see your smiling face.

Funnily enough, even though most of Ernaux's work is made up of memoir, A Frozen Woman is one of her early novels. It's very very very much connected to and based on her life (to the point that you can claim it to be autofictional), but it is technically a novel/work of fiction. Anyway, iconic haul. Zitkala-Ša is wonderful, Lispector is an icon, and Ernaux deserves the hype and more.
@AnaWallaceJohnson
@AnaWallaceJohnson Год назад
That's the answer I needed! I couldn't figure if it was memoir or not. The spot I bought it at filed it under memoir, but the synopsis threw me. You're amazing for this clarification!!

You definitely have willpower when it comes to buying books! If I visited 20 bookstores, I would have walked out with at least 100 books by the time I got back. I also collect bookmarks from the bookstores that I visit, and I like to use the bookmark with the book that came from that particular bookstore. I also got some nice bookmarks for Christmas one year that have nice, book loving messages on them. I like bookmarks! Have you heard of Pantheon Books and the collections of fairy tales, folktales, myths, and legends that they have released? When you mentioned American Indian Stories, that was the first thing that came to my mind (though I saw it at Fact and Fiction in the previous video). At first, I thought American Indian Stories was an anthology, but it is simply a collection of short works from a single writer, which is perfectly okay, because we are still getting her perspective and from a time period that was quite intense. I really need to read something by Gillian Flynn, for I own her major books, but have yet to read any of them. Like Comment Subscribe looks VERY intriguing. I would like to read more about social media and the impact that it has had on people and their way of living. Thank you for sharing! -Josh
@AnaWallaceJohnson
@AnaWallaceJohnson Год назад
Yeah, I've definitely heard of Pantheon books! I wasn't entirely familiar with their fairy tales, folktales, etc., but maybe I'd make a point to read some. I need to dip more into fantasy and all it's surrounding genres. I've got so many books to read!! thank you for being here!!
@LiteraryGladiators
@LiteraryGladiators Год назад
I got into a whirlwind of fairy tale, folktale, and other collections of that nature, and many of them were published by Pantheon Books. They are definitely worth looking into and while I have yet to read one in its entirety, I have dipped in and out and discussed a few on our channel. There is definitely so much more we need to read and more time to accomplish this desire. I am happy to stop by!

Those all look great, though I'm most interested in American Indian Stories--need to pick up a copy! Currently reading V. Woolf's Orlando, as I'm planning to read everything by Woolf, and reread some that I've read previously.
@AnaWallaceJohnson
@AnaWallaceJohnson Год назад
How far are you into the Woolf catalogue? I need to read much more of hers/similar to you, do some rereading. I feel like I read her too early to fully grasp what I needed out of it all
@emileconstance5851
@emileconstance5851 Год назад
@@AnaWallaceJohnson I feel like I'm not very far, but that's partly because Woolf wrote so much. So, reading and rereading some of her best-known works: Orlando, To the Lighthouse, Mrs. Dalloway, The Waves, A Room of One's Own, and Congenial Spirits: The Selected Letters of Virginia Woolf. After I finish Orlando, I hope to read Between the Acts, her Common Reader(s) (1&2), some short stories (I've only read "Solid Objects"), Three Guineas, A Writer's Diary, and her biography of Roger Fry. There's more of course, but that's what I have planned for now, along w/ some criticism, starting w/ Anna Snaith's edited collection, Virginia Woolf Studies. Finally, at some point, I hope to read Hermione Lee's biography of Woolf, but at just over a thousand pages I'm not sure when I'm going to fit that in! This is probably way too ambitious for me, as I'm a fairly slow reader; on the other hand, I haven't read anything by Woolf that I haven't loved, so I hope to keep going. Also, rereading Woolf is always rewarding--there's always something new to discover, and I never tire of reading her beautifully crafted prose.
