By 2030, the federal government is hoping 60 per cent of new car sales will be zero-emission. By 2035, they want that number to be 100 per cent. To help with that goal, Canada and a number of provinces have been courting auto manufacturers to set up shop here. And just last week, Honda announced a $15-billion investment in EV production in Ontario - the biggest deal Canada has ever landed.
Adam Radwanski, The Globe’s climate policy columnist, is on the show to talk about a few of these Canadian deals and the future of the EV industry - both the prospect and obstacles ahead.

This, as EV demand in Canada is at its lowest point. More proof at just how incompitent this government is. Spending $45k on a base model new EV when I can spend 2/3 of that on a higher end hybrid or ICE. What are people smoking to think this is a good idea when of warranties don't catch up in 5-10 years battery replacement will be half the cost of the vehicle? Much less the environmental impact?

EV's are a waste of money and time. The production of these batteries will raise our carbon footprint, so it is counter-intuitive.

@@Iban-Underground Please elaborate how an EV in my climate works? It gets to -30C in the winter, no charging stations for hundreds of miles. I am an average Canadian. Maybe these things work in the city, not rural. In fact it would put me at risk. So, NO to your no. This was proven over 100 years ago to be a waste of time. Gorgle lithium mining, you might be shocked, same as blood diamonds.

@@schwags1969 1. They are working around the -30 issue, and EVs are getting better at dealing with the cold. 2. More charging stations are being created, and the government is even considering a federally backed system 3. It's not all about you Karen.

A car is on the road for 20 years. The total CO2 will be less and the batteries will be recycled when necessary.
