Wow, what a night and day difference 😃. Was cool to see the lever in different positions and actually see how much that affects the amount of hair clipped each step. And I had no idea there's a half guard 🤔. Good to know if the lever won't stay in position or if, like me, the clippers you're borrowing don't have a lever. Thank you Dawg. Andis sell a whole range of guards separately. And infact you can even get all different lengths of blades. They literally have a blade for every occasion. Some of them are ridiculously precise. Real high quality stuff. But also with a high quality price tag. Thanks for tuning in again 👍😁😁✂️

Your fix saved my botched haircut! Just finished my 3rd self-cut. THEN RU-vid showed me the light by directing me to your channel. Great timing. Turns out, I needed it. I left an extremely obvious hedge-line at my occipital ridge probably visible from outer-space. Very carefully and slowly, I figured out the lengths of the bottom and top and, 1 cm at a time, marched my way through. Before it looked like I had worn a tin-foil cap to the ridge. It looks (and feels) so much better after following your quick tutorial. Watching your videos is like finally finding the teacher who is both an expert in the topic and an expert in explaining to a poorly coordinated novice starting from nothing. Please keep making videos. Hopefully, RU-vid will start promoting your channel. Thanks much!

Hopefully. I've not yet made any money out of RU-vid. It does pay but so far it is covering the cost of making videos. I hope at some point it turns into more than the cost of production. But I do also quite enjoy making videos, RU-vid is quite a fun platform.

watching your video's gave me the guts to buy some decent wahl clippers ( went with the elite pro clippers as they come with the premium guards ) & wahl detail trimmers & have a go at my 1st self haircut a couple of month ago, just a no.2 short back & sides, took about 2hrs the 1st time as I was papping myself & didnt want to look a right muppet lol, then I got a 360 mirror ( what a god send that is, no more having to hold a hand mirror ) after a few more cuts ( still short back & sides but now down to a no.1 ) i'm now at the stage I dont see a need for me to go back to a barbers after lock down until I physically cant do it myself anymore. Your video's give simple guides on how to, keep up the good work & I look forward to seeing more of your video's

Your videos are really well put together so thank you for that. I was just wondering what can be done if you have a hair clipper that doesn't have that adjusting lever on it? Many thanks.

When the hair is cut with a bare blade and you want to get into longer hair without a line it is almost impossible without a lever. That said anything longer than a 1 and you can probably cut hair without a lever.

I'm actually going to take back the clippers I bought today for a refund as they stated a lot of things the clippers are supposed to do in the details but I've now found out from the manual that they don't do those things so totally mis-sold. Have ordered some Wahl Rapid Clip clippers as they seem to do everything I'll need to do and get good reviews and aren't very expensive. Will be my first ever time cutting my own hair so pretty nervous. Thanks again.

My haircut was going pretty nicely, but I went too far with the one... Tried my best to blend the open #1 with the 2... Still not great but I can work with it 😂 next time I'll be looking for a better setup the 0.5 and the 1.5 guards must be a life saver

Good effort. I use the .5 all the time, but hardly ever use the 1.5 guard. On the Wahl the 1.5 guard has very wide teeth, it feels clumsy.

Great if you like the fade style cut. Now how are you finishing from the occipital bone to the crown? I think this is the area I have the most problem with.

If I was going further up I would just keep working through the grades, 1.5 , 2 etc going a little higher each time. I kept the video to that one short tip though as the lever broke during the video. First time in two years that happened and it happens right in the middle of filming. 🙈 But the main thing was to help out with the neck line. A neckline is a totally acceptable finish to a haircut, but looks out of place when it is made inside the hairline. The reason being the scalp hair is a lot denser than the neck hair and regrowth is makes it look like there is a line above some thick stuble.

@@theoneminutebarber I think I spotted the problem. While combing the top of my hair, I noticed that the part that meets the side is still too long aka not blended properly. So where the head curves on top, if you pull the hair up & over slightly, the hair from the top & sides haven't been blended. I think some barber refer to it as the triangle?

Not sure. Like many I never would have thought of cutting my own hair before, but now I find the art extremely interessing. Never gave barbers and their work and skills enough credit, always taking everything for granted. Plus, cutting your own hair is very satisfying, so I‘ll be sticking around. Great Video as always, only problem: If you‘re skilled enough to do this repair you are probably skilled enough not to make that mistake in the first place.

@@theoneminutebarber Yeah, I know you did, I mean you said so and it is obvious. I‘m just saying that if I was skilled enough to do this repair ,which I am not, I would be skilled enough to get the neck done right the first time... which I also am not, because your intentional screw-up looked shockingly similar to my first self cut. Thanks to your videos however I‘ve become a lot better at it.

Nice one Sebastian. You know before I was a barber many years ago I was going for a night out and missed the barber. Well I thought I'd just get my bic razor and tidy it up. It was a steep learning curve. I went out looking like I'd been operated on. I wish you tube existed back then. 🙈😭🤣
