at least hornets made the playoffs Lamelo’s rookie year. The pistons have no bright spot other than cade. If lamelo can stay healthy hornets are a playoff team every year but his ankle injuries holing him back
I wanna feel bad for Monty, then I remember the bag he's getting paid & how he likes to neglect struggling young players instead of work with them. Free Ivey man
As a pistons fan idk man. We have a brighter future than that bobcats but a lot has gone wrong. The biggest thing was not getting the right vets this off season, because all of ours have been hurt that we rely on. Young guys need that support. Look at sga, without cp3 idk how good he would've been without him. If things go right we could be a decent young team, if the worst happens again after the adjustment of new players and coach, then it's just more of the same now. This team isn't this bad, it's just so many new factors keep coming into play
Pistons should win more games than that 2012 bobcats team. 😂 they’re not that trash but I think the pistons need to keep tanking like okc so they can get cade a big man
Im sorry but they aren't close to the biggest mess in the NBA. The worst team right now-yes, but the biggest mess-definitely not. They have super promising young players in the point guard, center, and small forward position, along with a great backup point guard and some other good role playing young players. Their future is super bright. The wizards on the other hand... I don't think anybody knows what is going on there.
The pistons need to continue tanking so cade can get more nxt year. The wizards need to completely reset the franchise and start over . Trade everyone and get a bunch of picks like OKC
@@Zoroaster1996 Monty managed to get ayton, cp3 mikal bridges to buy into his system and it got them to a finals . The pistons are garbage no matter who coaches them
@@judahchild2612Monty benefited from coaching good talent in Phx what talent has he ever developed?? Even in New Orleans he had AD this dude has never developed any player just like Steve Kerr really hasn't they both need superstar talent to be successful. Look at Ime he's who you guys think Monty is someone who's able to get the best from his players regardless of their status.
I used to think the Red Sox suffering from the curse of the Bambino was nonsense but think about it. Maybe, the Pistons are suffering from the Billups curse. Ever since they traded away Chauncey for Iverson, they look pretty cursed to me.
Thank you for cruelly covering us properly and giving context especially to nba fans who don’t follow or watch the team this is why you are one of the best
As a rockets fan I feel bad for the Pistons they got some talent with Cade Ivey Duren Asaur and Sasser but they just haven’t put it together. Maybe they need to fire the GM because they have too much talent to be this bad. I hope they can get it together also I hope Asaur isn’t calling Amen telling him how bad it is up there 😅
I’d commented before on your over reaction video and spoke about the pistons. Unlike the Magic who are a fun exciting teams with a ton of talent pistons I thought could be that but are the complete opposite.
it is pretty obvious someone has beef with Ivey and he isn't gonna get the playing time also Cade is not very efficient shooting and barely developed anything and it is year three for him.
Not worried, kids only played like 90 some games. Barely a season under him. Add that with league worst spacing? Yeah he’ll probably shoot better with more space and time
Mikal Bridges, Cam Thomas, and Ben Simmons might be giving some words of sympathy for this team. Along with hundreds of Nets fans for sure who are also feeling very sorry. Losing 17 in a row and never winning in November is absolutely unprecedented. I feel especially sorry for Cade.
This team is going absolutely nowhere, average picks (which - as usual - the fans overrate to their own detriment) that aren't worth a great deal and no superstar player to build around. Like if you're gonna play this game you really gotta be drafting a Zion, Embiid, Wemby to make it worth it, otherwise your hopes of climbing the mountain as Detroit? 0.
Everyone's been blaming Detroit's Spacing as the reason for their failings, but I think the reason is simply that they miscast Cade Cunningham as #1 cornerstone type player. He's Not a LeBron, or Luka, or Jokic. I think he's a 2nd or 3rd star. He can clearly shoot & hit the open man, but his offense seems to be too dependent on how he's being guarded. He doesn't just impose his will on the game. It's why his percentages aren't holding up. Kind of reminds me of a 6'8" version of Jose Calderon. Calderon was supposed to be special in many evaluators eyes, but when he got in the league he was good, but not great. Eventhough he could Shoot & Pass well his offense was too intermittent. I get that vibe from Cade as well.
I go to pistons games all the time and it really feels like the pistons are just running up and down the court there is absolutely no explosiveness or energy on this team. It is painfully clear they expect Cade to be Prime Lebron for 82 games Cade is the best thing the happen to pistons in decades and the management will blow it and ruin his career.
@lilkizxo7278 for real Cade is good. No player can do it alone even Jordan couldn't win alone in the early 80s same age as Cade yet this pistons be acting like Cade should have taken them to back to back rings already. He ain't got any help. Somethings wrong with the pistons. Back in the good old days when they Bea the lakers and were going to conference finals every year the energy on that team was unreal. Very cool to have seen live.
It’s Incase that this team has dropped to the 5 spot in the lottery back to back years. I don’t think any team has been so unlucky in the draft lottery as the Pistons
@@judahchild2612They'd be a perimeter nightmare on offence too, and not in a good way. There'd also be essentially no minutes for him unless Siakam was traded early on
Celtics have made deep playoff runs but i still have ZERO faith in them winning any important game. The 76ers are the only team better at choking in the east rn. Gotta be better. Respect to the Pacers though, Haliburton is a basketball god this year.
It's gotten so bad. Why not play Duran & Wiseman. Both are 6'10"+, should help less close shots at rim. Wiseman can score, he avg 5 ppg in just 10 mpg, so give him 30 mpg, should be 15+ ppg 10+ rpg. Cade still at PG, Thompson at SG, Stewart at F. So rebounding & interior defense should be good, so if get beat, opponents gotta shoot from 15'+ from basket.
Ayton fooled you then. He has the talent but none of the drive to elevate his game to get to those heights. He got his paycheck and that's what mattered to him. Not many people would care about that if he wasn't drafted #1 and ahead of Luka Doncic.
@@CrazyxEnigma the coach lost him brother. I don’t think he’s an all world player but the role and the way he was playing was elite elite. Monty lost him and Monty will lose a lot of the young pistons too. He’s already lost Ivey
@@nasserotutaha7270 That's true. Don't think I've ever seen an NBA coach and player "feud" quite play out the way it did. We'll see if this stint goes as bad as Boylen and Beilen did for the Bulls and Cavs respectively.
@@nasserotutaha7270 Anyton has been even more passive in Portland, where he theoretically should have more of a greenlight to be an offensive centerpiece, which supposidly was why he had beef in Phoenix. Maybe Monty knew something everyone else didn't about Ayton...
@@ImBarryScottCSS Funky actually offers analysis instead of talking head points like "How will this affect LeBron's legacy?!?!" So in that regard no ESPN does not have it covered.
@@elblouses128 his TS% is not up there with the big dawgs yet. He just needs to work on his efficiency in the offseason and maybe change his game a bit and transition into more of a true PG. He’ll end up being an elite backup guard for a contender once he hits free agency its a tale as old as time in the NBA. I feel bad for the Pistons honestly and hope they hit on some of these future draft picks.
Ive been wondering what the hell this team is up to. Seen a lot of pistons fans complaining about the Ivey thing. I too was confused watching him not play much against the Knicks. If they don’t want him I’d love for a talent like that on my team.
@J.Ragland-hz1er What the hell are you talking about. Duren will be a restricted free agent in 2026. The Pistons have not yet extended his contract outside or rookie contract exercises.
Cade has been looking awesome in the past 10 or so. Ausar has been great. Duren was awesome and then rough playing with that hurt ankle. Last game was awesome, though. And Ivey has been an efficient scorer.
@@ghostyff9183SCHEDULE. 5 SETS of 3 games in 4 nights. Toughest opening schedule in the ENTIRE NBA. You expected a STARTING 5 YOUNGER THAN THE MSU SPARTANS to be COACHED THROUGH IT? BEFORE THEY'VE PLAYED 20 GAMES TOGETHER?
Monty Williams is good at some things. Motivating young talent and building effective schemes are not those things. Watching the Suns under Frank Vogel has really opened my eyes to how ineffective Williams was as an offensive schemer
Ladies and Gentlemen, they've only played 20 games, and FIFTEEN of those games came in THREE GAMES IN FOUR NIGHT STANDS. TOUGHEST OPENING SCHEDULE EVER IN FIFTEEN PLAYER NBA HISTORY. LET THAT SINK IN
@@jaceygaither2581ARE YOU KIDDING? UNDER MONTY WILLIAMS LAST SEASON, THE SUNS WERE 14-6 after 20 games. THIS SEASON THEY'RE 12-8 after 20 games. How is 12-8 better than 14-6?
Funky wow, you actually watched games and did your research. A lot of REALLY good stuff here, and not just because it's my team but it's because you don't just use the stupid nba talking points that everyone uses about the team or x player. As for Duren, he rolled his ankle in the 5th game I believe and ever since then he's been out of the training staff has mismanaged his injury, just awful stuff. He literally just turned 20, so he has a ton of room to grow but he's shown tremendous flashes. It's just time to see what sticks. Will he be a more athletic bam with less defense, where he can pass and shoot the midrange? Or will he be rim running big, still valuable because he's sn athletic freak of nature
Keep Cade, Ausar, Ivey, Duren and the next lottery pick they get. The rest of them are expendable and should be traded for vets that can space the floor and bring a positive locker room presence.
They shouldnt have fired Dwayne Casey Monty had success in Phoenix but honestly that doesnt hold a candle to all the years Casey was in Toronto devoloping players, also the Pistons should focus on development and not winning right now (cause they aint good enough to win, so they got to develop to win), which makes the firing of Casey for Monty even worse. Monty is already taking minutes away from Ivey for no good reason, feels like he is the "DeAndre Ayton" of this team that Monty will use to throw under the bus as soon as he can....
@@yunginelijah8526He isn’t even a vet. He’s basically a second year player, and he’s still developing just like all the other young players on the team. I don’t see how his leadership should correlate to anything
@@obi3924 I’ve been watching Cade since osu and if we’ve been watching the same guy than we both know he has had trouble with leading his teams. Doesn’t mean he’s not good just something he’s lacking at the moment and like you said maybe it’s gonna come with age.
This was ALL EXPECTED the DAY THE SCHEDULE CAME OUT. Somehow the SCHEDULING is... ACCEPTABLE? The NBA has had FIFTEEN players for 2 SEASONS, and both seasons, the Detroit Pistons had the NBA'S TOUGHEST SCHEDULE. THE PISTONS DID NOT MAKE THE SCHEDULE.
Monty wasn’t Troy Weaver’s choice, it was Tom Gores’ choice. It’s not looking good considering the lineups with the lack of spacing he’s putting out there. Not saying that Kevin Ollie would have been any better but Charles Lee would have been interesting as a young coach. It’s just ugly, folks
Bottom Line: The ONE NBA PLAYER thar has had the TOUGHEST OPENING SCHEDULE since the START OF THE FIFTEEN PLAYER NBA IS... KILLIAN HAYES. The TEAM that has had the TOUGHEST OPENING SCHEDULE... IS THE PISTONS. There is no team that has DONE BETTER with such a SCHEDULE, SO WHAT TEAM ARE WE COMPARING THE PISTONS TO?
The punchline is the #1 pick this year atm doesn't hold that much value. No Wemby or Zion for teams to salivate at the thought of drafting. That could change if somebody goes in a tear in the NCAA or Euroleague though.
Pistons have historically been one of the most unlucky teams in the lottery. Even last year they had the worst record and fell to the 5th pick, which has never happened to any other team in nba history.
